Book International Organizations

Download or read book International Organizations written by Giuseppe Schiavone and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-12-30 with total page 331 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dramatic changes in the world order since 1992 - the continuing struggle in the former Yugoslavia, the creation of the World Trade Organization, the tentative steps towards European Union - have led to major revisions of Professor Schiavone's International Organizations . New entries, including the G-7, G-24, and the International Committee of the Red Cross, have been added. On the 50th anniversary of the UN special annexes on peace-keeping agencies and major resolutions are now included. The introductory essay contains an overall view of the basic features of the law of international organizations and a survey of their historical development and outstanding problems, helping the reader to set the organizations in their proper context, be it global or sectional. The main body of the book consists of alphabetically arranged entries for over 200 organizations - from the UN to specialised agencies and regional bodies in Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and the Pacific. Each entry is broken up into sub-headings such as Purpose, Structure, Origin and Development, and Activities. Specific data concerning addresses, principal officers, main periodic publications and a short list of works of reference are provided with each entry. Ease of access to all entries is expedited by an index of acronyms and full names. Membership charts, a table of foundation dates and a classified index complete the volume.

Book Non Governmental Interests in International Regional Organizations

Download or read book Non Governmental Interests in International Regional Organizations written by Elisa Tino and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2018-03-20 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: International organizations are typically intergovernmental in nature and endowed with a bipolar institutional structure where organs of States are usually juxtaposed with the Secretariat. On these premises, in Non-Governmental Interests in Regional Organizations: The Role of Parliamentary, Socio-Economic and Territorial Institutions Elisa Tino aims at analysing the unexplored phenomenon of institutional multipolarism of regional organizations, namely the trend to establish institutions representing non-governmental interests. Particularly, illustrating their diffusion in various geographic areas, explaining rationales underlying their establishment and investigating their institutional aspects, Elisa Tino pinpoints the contribution of these institutions to the development of regional organizations both according to the functionalist approach and the constitutionalist one. Thus, she aims at providing food for thought in the study of international organizations.

Book Rethinking Free Trade Economic Integration and Human Rights in the Americas

Download or read book Rethinking Free Trade Economic Integration and Human Rights in the Americas written by María Belén Olmos Giupponi and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2017-01-26 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph offers the first systematic overview of the protection of human rights in trade agreements in the Americas. Traditionally, trade agreements in the Americas were concerned with economic questions and paid little attention to human rights. However, in the wake of the 'new regionalism', which emerged at the end of the last century, more clauses addressing social issues such as labour rights and environmental standards were inserted in trade agreements. As economic integration increased, a framework for the protection of human rights evolved. This book argues that this framework allows for human rights protection on a transnational level, while constructing regional identities. Looking at the four key regional integration processes, namely the Caribbean Community, the Central American Integration System, the Andean Community of Nations and the Southern Common Market, and also at the North American Free Trade Agreement, it shows how the integration process has reached a considerable degree of consolidation. Writing on key sources in English for the first time, this book will be essential reading for all free trade and human rights scholars.

Book South South Regional Financial Arrangements

Download or read book South South Regional Financial Arrangements written by Diana Barrowclough and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-01-18 with total page 361 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book shows how regional cooperation and integration have increased massively in scale and scope in recent years, as developing countries seek new ways to shield themselves from economic turbulence and to kick-start their economies in the face of stagnant global demand. The trend is partly a defense mechanism against the limitations of the international financial system, but also reflects a wider search for new and different growth paths more appropriate with developing countries’ increasing economic and political voice. As a consequence, the landscape of financial and monetary mechanisms has changed dramatically, especially in the ten years since the economic crisis of 2007–2008.

Book Pr cticas de marketing y estudios en los mercados de consumo

Download or read book Pr cticas de marketing y estudios en los mercados de consumo written by and published by Comunicacion Científica. This book was released on 2024-06-26 with total page 167 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book Trade Agreements Investment Protection and Dispute Settlement in Latin America

Download or read book Trade Agreements Investment Protection and Dispute Settlement in Latin America written by Belén Olmos Giupponi and published by Kluwer Law International B.V.. This book was released on 2019-01-15 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years many Latin American countries have liberalized their trade and investment regimes, opening their markets to free international trade. At the same time, regional economic integration has boomed. This book is the first systematic analysis in any language of these globally significant developments, and the first comprehensive legal study of dispute settlement relating to foreign direct investment and trade in the region. Undertaken by an expert in the field, this study describes the current institutional framework of Latin American trade and investment law as well as specialized legal issues in the region's various economic blocs. Among the many issues and topics raised the following may be mentioned: • questions of compliance and procedure in the context of today's international investment regime; • formalized dispute settlement mechanisms; • alternative dispute resolution channels, including dispute prevention practices; • legitimacy and transparency of the various dispute settlement mechanisms; • inclusion of social clauses in trade and investment agreements; and • avoidance of investment treaty liability. In order to offer a most accurate view of the effectiveness of the protection granted to foreign investors, special attention is given to relevant case law – completely covering the period 1985–2015 – as well as arbitral precedents before international bodies and in jurisdictions across the region. The book concludes with a critical examination of the future prospects of international economic law dispute settlement in the Americas, pinpointing current trends and unveiling future possible avenues for change. As an in-depth explication of how the rules and principles of international economic law are applied in Latin America, this book has no peers. For practitioners drafting business agreements with Latin American companies, or needing to ensure availability of appropriate remedies, this book's detailed insight into international litigation in the region, including case law illustrating the main topics, will prove to be of immeasurable value. Professionals in the arbitral community worldwide, as well as governments, dedicated research centres and officials in international organizations will welcome this book's model for comparative integration studies, systematic guidance on procedure and case law of domestic and international courts and arbitral tribunals, and extensive treatment of dispute settlement mechanisms in trade and investment agreements.
