Book Dynamics of Underactuated Multibody Systems

Download or read book Dynamics of Underactuated Multibody Systems written by Robert Seifried and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-08 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Underactuated multibody systems are intriguing mechatronic systems, as they posses fewer control inputs than degrees of freedom. Some examples are modern light-weight flexible robots and articulated manipulators with passive joints. This book investigates such underactuated multibody systems from an integrated perspective. This includes all major steps from the modeling of rigid and flexible multibody systems, through nonlinear control theory, to optimal system design. The underlying theories and techniques from these different fields are presented using a self-contained and unified approach and notation system. Subsequently, the book focuses on applications to large multibody systems with multiple degrees of freedom, which require a combination of symbolical and numerical procedures. Finally, an integrated, optimization-based design procedure is proposed, whereby both structural and control design are considered concurrently. Each chapter is supplemented by illustrated examples.

Book Optimal Design of Multi parameter Dynamic Systems

Download or read book Optimal Design of Multi parameter Dynamic Systems written by Erkal Tüzgiray and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two design methods for multi-parameter dynamic systems are proposed. They are intended to eliminate the limitations and disadvantages of the existing design methods. The powerful mathematical tools of optimal control theory are applied to the practical design problems of classical control. The first method is intended for linear systems only; the design problem is solved in the s-domain, by finding 'the best root locations' of the system's characteristic equation. In the second method, the design problem is solved by finding 'the best response' of the system in the time domain. The second method is applicable to a wide range of dynamic systems; it can be used to synthesize linear, non-linear and sampled-data systems, and systems with time delay. This method is also extended to a numerical stability analysis procedure. Fourteen examples are presented to illustrate the applications of the methods. (Author).

Book Offshore Compliant Platforms

Download or read book Offshore Compliant Platforms written by Srinivasan Chandrasekaran and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2020-02-05 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A guide to the analysis and design of compliant offshore structures that highlights a new generation of platforms Offshore Compliant Platforms provides an authoritative guideto the analysis and design of compliant offshore structures and puts the focus on a new generation of platforms such as: triceratops, Buoyant Leg Storage and Regasification platforms. Whilst the authors – noted experts on the topic – include basic information on the conceptual development of conventional platforms, the book presents detailed descriptions of the design and development of new deep-water platforms. The book describes the preliminary design of triceratops in ultra-deep waters and presents a detailed analysis of environmental loads that are inherent in offshore locations such as wave, wind and current. The new methodology for the dynamic analysis of triceratops under ice loads, predominantly in ice-covered regions, is also examined with detailed parametric studies. In addition, the book covers the structural geometry and the various methods of analysis for assessing the performance of any other similar offshore platform under the special loads. A discussion of the fatigue analysis and service life prediction is also included. This important book: • Includes the analysis and design of compliant offshore structures with a focus on a new generation of platforms • Examines the preliminary design of triceratops in ultra-deep waters • Covers an analysis of environmental loads that are inherent in offshore locations such as wave, wind and current • Reviews the structural geometry and various methods of analysis for assessing the performance of any other similar offshore platform under special loads • Discusses fatigue analysis and service life prediction Written for engineers and researchers across engineering including civil, mechanical, structural, offshore, ocean and naval architecture, Offshore Compliant Platforms fills the need for a guide to new offshore platforms that provides an understanding of the behaviour of these structures under different loading conditions.
