Book A Computer oriented Study of Performance Feedback in Sampled data Control Systems

Download or read book A Computer oriented Study of Performance Feedback in Sampled data Control Systems written by John Paul Mantey and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This research is concerned with the development of computer-oriented procedures for the design of sampled data control systems. Two general areas of this problem are considered: the synthesis of optimal controllers having low dynamical order, and the design of adaptive control systems. The performance of the system is evaluated in terms of a quantitative performance criterion. Two new performance criteria are developed; the meanquadratic-error criterion and the average rate-of-decay criterion. Since the primary requirement of a dynamical system is stability, these criteria are examined in terms of the theorems from Liapunov's direct method of stability analysis. The analysis of the rate criterion may be applied to nonlinear as well as linear systems. Included in the discussion are illustrations on how some of the qualitative performance criteria, such as 'good' transient response, may be satisfied through proper selection of the mathematical performance criterion. The optimization procedures are based upon the concept of performance feedback in which the evaluated performance of the system is used directly in the adjustment of the system parameters.

Book Optimum Control of Linear Sampled Data Systems with Inaccessible State Variables

Download or read book Optimum Control of Linear Sampled Data Systems with Inaccessible State Variables written by J. G. Root and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 15 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Some new results in the optimum control of linear systems with respect to a quadratic performance criterion are given. It is assumed that the system is subject to additive random disturbances and that some state variables cannot be measured or can only be measured with additive noise. It is well known that when the disturbance and noise are normal random variables, the optimum controller is a linear function of the minimum mean squared estimates for the state variables. In this study the result is shown to hold without qualification. (Author).

Book Advances in Control Systems

Download or read book Advances in Control Systems written by C. T. Leondes and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-12-01 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in Control Systems: Theory and Applications, Volume 6 provides information pertinent to the significant progress in the field of control and systems theory and applications. This book presents the higher level of automata, which represent the embodiment of the application of artificial intelligence techniques to control system design and may be described as self-organizing systems. Organized into four chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the existing technology in learning control system. This text then demonstrates how to apply artificial intelligence techniques to the designs of off-line and on-line learning control systems. Other chapters consider the decomposition methods and the associated multilevel optimization techniques applicable to control system optimization problems. This book discusses as well the complex optimal system control problems applied to the trajectory optimization problem. The final chapter deals with systems described by partial differential equations. This book is a valuable resource for control system engineers.

Book Optimum Design of Sampled Data Systems with Random Parameters

Download or read book Optimum Design of Sampled Data Systems with Random Parameters written by Stanford University Stanford Electronics Laboratories and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Three problem areas associated with the design of linear sampled-data systems are considered. The first arises from having the transition and distribution matrices of the system be random variables, i.e., the random parameter problem; the second from having multiplicative noise at the input to the system, this being a special case of the first problem area; and the third from being unable to measure the state vector of the system exactly. In each of these 3 areas, the performance of the system is measured by using either a generalized sum-squared-error, a final-value, or a minimum-time criterion. The design procedures are based either upon minimizing the expected value of the performance index or upon minimiz'ng the performance index in the presence of worst-case variations within the system, e.g., minimizing the expected value of the sumsquared-error. In general, the results are in the form of feedback coefficients which relate the value of the optimum input to the value of the state vector of the system. (Author).

Book Sampled Data Control for Periodic Objects

Download or read book Sampled Data Control for Periodic Objects written by Efim N. Rosenwasser and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-02-02 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is devoted to the problem of sampled-data control of finite-dimensional linear continuous periodic (FDLCP) objects. It fills a deficit in coverage of this important subject. The methods presented here are based on the parametric transfer matrix, which has proven successful in the study of sampled-data systems with linear time-invariant objects. The book shows that this concept can be successfully transferred to sampled-data systems with FDLCP objects. It is set out in five parts: · · an introduction to the frequency approach for the mathematical description of FDLCP objects including the determination of their structure and their representation as a serial connection of periodic modulators and a linear time-invariant object; · construction of parametric transfer matrix for different types of open and closed sampled-data systems with FDLCP objects; · the solution of problems of causal modal control of FDLCP objects based on the mathematical apparatus of determinant polynomial equations; · consideration of the problem of constructing a quadratic quality functional for the H2-optimization problem of a single-loop synchronous sampled-data system with control delay; · description of the general H2-optimization procedure. Necessary mathematical reference material is included at relevant points in the book. Sampled-Data Control for Periodic Objects is of use to: scientists and engineers involved in research and design of systems of systems with FDLCP objects; graduate students wishing to broaden their scope of competence; their instructors; and mathematicians working in the field of control theory.
