Download or read book Optical Cdma Spectral Encoder Decoder written by Neetika Soni and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2013 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recently, there has been increasing interest in field of Optical CDMA due to its potential for offering unmatched features at ultra high data rates in field of local and metro area networks. OCDMA exhibits as an attractive alternative for broadband fiber optic multiple access networks among other optical multiplexing technologies such as OTDMA (Optical Time Division Multiple Access) and WDMA (Wavelength Division Multiple Access) Optical CDMA is a technique where different codes are assigned to different users. Each user data bit is spreaded according to the code allotted to it.Aim of the book is to discuss very simple method of Optical CDMA encoding technique known as the Temporal Phase Encoding and the performance of the system with this encoding technique is evaluated on the basis of number of users, length of the spreading code for 4-phase and 8-phases. Simulation results for the system are presented for upto seven users. Bit error rate curves are plotted with data rate of 1Gbps.

Book Optical CDMA System Based on Spectral Amplitude Encoding of Incoherent Broadband Sources

Download or read book Optical CDMA System Based on Spectral Amplitude Encoding of Incoherent Broadband Sources written by Lucie Adam and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this thesis, a new optical Code-Division-Multiple Access (CDMA) system is demonstrated based on spectral amplitude encoding of noncoherent broadband sources. This scheme employs low-cost optical sources such as light-emitting diodes (LEDs). The spreading gain is independent of the data rate, therefore individual users can operate at data rates compatible with available electronic devices. Optical CDMA systems are generally classified into two categories: time-encoded and frequency-encoded systems. In the former case, a low information rate is mapped into a high rate optical pulse sequence. This is possible because of the wide bandwidth of optical fibers. The latter relies on encoding the entire available wavelength band at once with a sequence identifying the intended user. The encoding and decoding principles rely solely upon the crosscorrelation properties exhibited by the set of signals used to distinguish subscribers. We employ simple maximal-length sequences. We demonstrate how data is recovered or rejected with the use of a differential receiver. We examine the transceiver design, and the impact of their characteristics on the system capacity. The performance of the proposed CDMA system is experimentally characterized. The experimental set-up and its advantages and limitations are detailed. We present our bit-error rate (BER) measurements for different code lengths and received power. Also, the resulting eye patterns are shown.

Book VLSI Micro and Nanophotonics

Download or read book VLSI Micro and Nanophotonics written by El-Hang Lee and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-09-03 with total page 632 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Addressing the growing demand for larger capacity in information technology, VLSI Micro- and Nanophotonics: Science, Technology, and Applications explores issues of science and technology of micro/nano-scale photonics and integration for broad-scale and chip-scale Very Large Scale Integration photonics. This book is a game-changer in the sense that it is quite possibly the first to focus on "VLSI Photonics". Very little effort has been made to develop integration technologies for micro/nanoscale photonic devices and applications, so this reference is an important and necessary early-stage perspective on this field. New demand for VLSI photonics brings into play various technological and scientific issues, as well as evolutionary and revolutionary challenges—all of which are discussed in this book. These include topics such as miniaturization, interconnection, and integration of photonic devices at micron, submicron, and nanometer scales. With its "disruptive creativity" and unparalleled coverage of the photonics revolution in information technology, this book should greatly impact the future of micro/nano-photonics and IT as a whole. It offers a comprehensive overview of the science and engineering of micro/nanophotonics and photonic integration. Many books on micro/nanophotonics focus on understanding the properties of individual devices and their related characteristics. However, this book offers a full perspective from the point of view of integration, covering all aspects of benefits and advantages of VLSI-scale photonic integration—the key technical concept in developing a platform to make individual devices and components useful and practical for various applications.

Book Optical CDMA Systems in High Speed Telecommunications

Download or read book Optical CDMA Systems in High Speed Telecommunications written by and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 43 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Boulder Nonlinear Systems (BNS) and the University of Colorado at Boulder (CU-Boulder) have developed a novel spectral optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) system with bipolar code capability for use in ultra-high-speed communication applications. By using liquid crystal spatial light modulators (SLMs), BNS and CU-Boulder have successfully fabricated and demonstrated a reconfigurable 2-user encoder-decoder system based on a fiber test bed using three arrayed liquid crystal SLMs. A broadband Superluminescent Diode (SLD) source amplified by an erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) was spectrally encoded and decoded. The bipolar correlations of the codes were verified. Good contrast between the autocorrelation and cross-correlation values shows that a binary information symbol can be recovered by an appropriate threshold operation. BER (bit-error-rate) measurements also show the ability of this system to perform MAI (multiple-access-interference) rejection. The system can be made very compact, even with large numbers of subscribers, when large format, two-dimensional SLMs are used. Due to its programmability and two-dimensional operations in the optical domain, the system is suitable for implementing optically transparent routings in an ultra-fast Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) switch.
