Download or read book Caring Responsibilities in European Law and Policy written by Eugenia Caracciolo di Torella and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-02-28 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the emerging engagement of EU law with care and carers. The book argues that the regulation of care by the EU is crucial because it enables the development of a broad range of policies. It contributes to the sustainability of society and ultimately it enables individuals to flourish. Yet, to date, the EU approach to regulating the caring relationship remains piecemeal and lacks the underpinning of a cohesive strategy. Against this backdrop, this book argues that the EU can and must take leadership in this area by setting principles and standards in accordance with the values of the treaty, in particular gender equality, human dignity, solidarity and well-being. The book further makes a case for a stronger protection for carers, who should not only be protected against discrimination, but should also be supported, valued and put in a position to make choices and lead full lives. In order to achieve this, a proactive approach to rebalancing the relationship between paid and unpaid work is necessary. Ultimately, the book puts forward a series of legal and policy recommendations for a holistic approach to care in the EU.
Download or read book EU Korea Security Relations written by Nicola Casarini and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-02-25 with total page 81 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an original examination of current European Union (EU)–Republic of Korea (ROK) security relations. It brings together analysis and original material on relations in the fields of Nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament, Cybersecurity and data-protection, Space policy and technology, and Preventive diplomacy and crisis management. These represent areas of particular interest to examine the extent to which the EU and ROK are able to successfully or otherwise cooperate. Relations between the EU and the ROK have been growing in quantity and quality over recent years. Alongside the economic dimension, the political and security elements of the relationship have shown promise for further collaboration between the two sides, not least within the context of North Korea’s nuclear threat and East Asia’s wider evolving security environment. All contributors are leading experts in their respective fields and each chapter is co-authored by a European and Korean expert for a balanced assessment. The volume will be essential reading for students, scholars and policy-makers interested in EU–Korea relations, EU foreign policy and security, Area studies, and, more broadly to EU politics studies, security studies, and international relations.
Download or read book Net Neutrality in Europe La neutralit de l Internet en Europe written by Alain Strowel and published by Primento. This book was released on 2013-10-28 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. This book summarizes the state of discussions regarding net neutrality in Europe. It comes at the time the European Commission intends to legislate to guarantee the right of all citizens to access the open Internet. Net neutrality is not only about how to ensure the fundamental right to receive and impart online information. The rules on the protection of consumers, by fostering transparency, also contribute to Internet neutrality and openness. Similarly competition law prohibits anti-competitive discrimination, including in Internet communications. Net neutrality thus appears at the juncture of various areas of the law. The contributions of this book compare the merits of various forms of regulation and discuss the policy dimensions of the net neutrality debate.
Download or read book Children and International Human Rights Law written by Aisling Parkes and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-08-15 with total page 421 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child 1989 is one of the most highly ratified human rights treaties in the world, with 192 states currently signed up to it. Article Twelve is fundamental to the Convention and states that all children capable of forming views have the right to express those views, and recognises that all children have the right to be heard in any judicial and administrative proceedings affecting them. This book explores the historical and theoretical background to Article Twelve, and examines the various models of participation which have been created to facilitate a better understanding of this provision. Aisling Parkes analyzes the extent to which Article Twelve has been implemented under international law, and in domestic law, as well as setting-out recommendations for the most effective ways of implementing Article Twelve in all areas of children’s lives.
Download or read book Routledge Handbook of Public Aviation Law written by Paul Stephen Dempsey and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-07-15 with total page 441 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Routledge Handbook of Public Aviation Law is the first book to incorporate a comprehensive analysis of Public Aviation Law – principally international, but also domestic law in a comparative context – in a single volume. International Law is pervasive in Aviation Law, and is incorporated into a number of major multilateral treaties (e.g., the Chicago Convention of 1944, for Public International Air Law). This is supplemented by various Annexes (promulgated by the International Civil Aviation Organization) and Conventions and Protocols (promulgated by States in diplomatic conferences). States then implement these international obligations in domestic laws that create aviation regulatory administrations that, in turn, promulgate regulations. Bringing together leading scholars in the field, this prestigious reference work provides a comprehensive and comparative overview of Public Aviation Law. It surveys the state of the discipline including contemporary and emerging areas of law, regulation, and public policy in air transportation. Each chapter begins with an overview of the international law applicable to the subject matter, followed, where appropriate, by a comparative examination of domestic statutes, regulations, and jurisprudence. The objective of the book is to identify and summarize existing areas within the context of international research, and to identify and highlight emerging areas. Both practical and theoretical in scope, the Routledge Handbook of Public Aviation Law will be of great relevance to scholars, researchers, lawyers, and policy makers with an interest in aviation law.
