Book The Theory and Practice of the Ophthalmoscope

Download or read book The Theory and Practice of the Ophthalmoscope written by John Claiborne and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2015-07-17 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The use of the ophthalmoscope as an aid to diagnosis, has become of such importance that it behooves the young practitioner to familiarize himself with its workings. Therefore we are in favor of the circulation of any books or monographs among the general practitioners that will tend to draw their attention to the value and importance of a thorough inspection of the interior of the eye in many diseases whose origin may be in some other organ of the body. Students too often become disheartened if they fail to take in a full view of the fundus of the eye during a few weeks' course of instruction as given by many instructors. If they will first study the principle involved in the use of the ophthalmoscope in some work like the one under review, they will much easier grasp the technique of its use. The book by Dr. Claiborne is claimed to be simply a statement of facts culled from more ponderous works, and, while not giving enough of the subject to be of great practical value, it will be found to contain elementary principles of interest to beginners in the study of the theory on which the use of the instrument is based. -The American Practitioner, Vol. 5 [1888]
