Book One Year of Thankful Thursdays

Download or read book One Year of Thankful Thursdays written by Susan W. Brown and published by . This book was released on 2019-10-04 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hustle! Go get it! This is your moment! So many of our moments are caught up in trying to figure out what to do next according to the world's latest desire or trend. This can become truly exhausting and overwhelming. What if we decided to take control of the narrative by changing the paradigm completely. What if the hustle and constant movement have actually derailed us from the joy that is possible? What if slowing down the pace, just for a second, allows you the space to notice, maybe for the first time all the truly incredible gifts that surround you every moment of every day. Too often, we think of gratitude maybe only during the holidays when we are told to by social media or commercialism. This can be a disenchanting view as we have so much to be thankful for we could easily list 10 things each day for every day of the year. Let's initiate our own intentional search for joy by having eyes to see the beauty all around us. Let's embark on a journey of ONE YEAR OF THANKFUL THURSDAYS! These won't include the typical thanksgivings either...these are a bit unique and require some thoughtful perspective. Let's look at things from a completely different vantage point and find gratitude in what some may call the ordinary or mundane. My friend, none of it is truly mundane and there is always always always something to be thankful for. We just need to take out those perspective glasses, dust them off, and see anew what an amazing world it is and all there is to be thankful for on a minute by minute basis! Once you start to see things clearly with an attitude of gratitude, it truly changes everything! You start to see that everything really can be viewed through a heavenly perspective. Nothing is out of the realm of possibility no matter how unusual for pointing to the One who made us to seek Him out in all the details of life! With that said, let's dive into cultivating a heart of gratitude!

Book Grateful American

Download or read book Grateful American written by Gary Sinise and published by Thomas Nelson. This book was released on 2019-02-12 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discover the moving, entertaining, never-before-told story of how one man found his calling: to see that those who defend this country and its freedoms are never forgotten. As a kid in suburban Chicago, Gary Sinise was more interested in sports and rock 'n' roll than reading or schoolwork. But when he impulsively auditioned for a school production of West Side Story, he found his true purpose--or so it seemed. Within a few years, Gary and a handful of friends created what became one of the most exciting and important new theater companies in America. From its humble beginnings in a suburban Chicago church basement and eventual move into the city, the Steppenwolf Theatre Company launched a series of groundbreaking productions, igniting Gary's career along with those of John Malkovich, Joan Allen, Gary Cole, Laurie Metcalf, Jeff Perry, John Mahoney, and countless others. Television and film came calling soon after, and Gary starred in Of Mice and Men (which he also directed) and The Stand before taking the role that would change his life in unforeseeable ways: Lieutenant Dan in the Academy Award-winning Forrest Gump. The military community's embrace of the character of the disabled veteran was matched only by the depth of Gary's realization that America's defenders had not received all the honor, respect, and gratitude their sacrifices deserve. In the aftermath of the September 11 attacks, this became Gary's new calling. Grateful American, now a New York Times bestseller, documents Gary's dedication to working tirelessly on behalf of those who serve this country, sharing stories about how he has: Entertained more than a half million troops around the world playing bass guitar with his Lt. Dan Band Raised funds on behalf of veterans Founded the Gary Sinise Foundation with a mission to serve and honor America's defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need Grateful American is the moving, entertaining, profoundly gripping story of how one man found his life's work: to see that those who defend this country and its freedoms are never forgotten. Praise for Grateful American: "Gary Sinise writes as he lives, and as the artist and actor he has always been: with American authenticity, purpose, and a conviction that is inseparable from his nature." --Tom Hanks, actor and filmmaker "No entertainer alive today has visited and performed more for our troops at veterans hospitals and military bases all over the world than Gary Sinise. For years his foundation has built 'smart homes' for our troops that were severely wounded in combat. The book is called Grateful American, and I promise that after you read it you will be grateful for what Gary has accomplished and contributed to our country. He's truly one of a kind." --Clint Eastwood, actor, director, producer, and musician

Download or read book I Want to Thank You written by Gina Hamadey and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2021-04-13 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An inspiring guide to saying thank you, one heartfelt note at a time. We all know that gratitude is good for us--but the real magic comes when we express it. Writer Gina Hamadey learned this life-changing lesson firsthand when a case of burnout and too many hours on social media left her feeling depleted and disconnected. In this engaging book, she chronicles how twelve months spent writing 365 thank-you notes to strangers, neighbors, family members, and friends shifted her perspective. Her journey shows that developing a lasting active gratitude practice can make you a happier person, heal complicated relationships, and reconnect you with the people you love--all with just a little bit of bravery at the mailbox. How can we turn an often-dreaded task into a rewarding act of self-care that makes us feel more present, joyful, and connected? Whether we're writing to a long-lost friend, a helpful neighbor, or a child's teacher, this inspiring book helps us reflect on meaningful memories and shared experiences and express ourselves with authenticity, vulnerability, and heart. Informed by Hamadey's year of discovery as well as interviews with experts on relationships, gratitude, and more, this deceptively simple guide offers a powerful way to jump-start your joy. Hamadey found herself thanking not only family members and friends, but less expected people in her sphere, including local shopkeepers, physical therapists, long-ago career mentors, favorite authors, and more. Once you get going, you might find yourself cultivating an active gratitude practice, too--one heartfelt note of thanks at a time.
