Book Ordinary Differential Equations and Stability Theory

Download or read book Ordinary Differential Equations and Stability Theory written by David A. Sanchez and published by Courier Dover Publications. This book was released on 2019-09-18 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This brief modern introduction to the subject of ordinary differential equations emphasizes stability theory. Concisely and lucidly expressed, it is intended as a supplementary text for advanced undergraduates or beginning graduate students who have completed a first course in ordinary differential equations. The author begins by developing the notions of a fundamental system of solutions, the Wronskian, and the corresponding fundamental matrix. Subsequent chapters explore the linear equation with constant coefficients, stability theory for autonomous and nonautonomous systems, and the problems of the existence and uniqueness of solutions and related topics. Problems at the end of each chapter and two Appendixes on special topics enrich the text.

Book Asymptotic Properties of Solutions of Nonautonomous Ordinary Differential Equations

Download or read book Asymptotic Properties of Solutions of Nonautonomous Ordinary Differential Equations written by Ivan Kiguradze and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 343 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume provides a comprehensive review of the developments which have taken place during the last thirty years concerning the asymptotic properties of solutions of nonautonomous ordinary differential equations. The conditions of oscillation of solutions are established, and some general theorems on the classification of equations according to their oscillatory properties are proved. In addition, the conditions are found under which nonlinear equations do not have singular, proper, oscillatory and monotone solutions. The book has five chapters: Chapter I deals with linear differential equations; Chapter II with quasilinear equations; Chapter III with general nonlinear differential equations; and Chapter IV and V deal, respectively, with higher-order and second-order differential equations of the Emden-Fowler type. Each section contains problems, including some which presently remain unsolved. The volume concludes with an extensive list of references. For researchers and graduate students interested in the qualitative theory of differential equations.

Book Some Nonlinear Systems of Differential Equations Equivalent to Linear Systems

Download or read book Some Nonlinear Systems of Differential Equations Equivalent to Linear Systems written by F. G. Dressel and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The problem, what equations of order n have general solutions expressible in the form of a variable set of solutions of a fixed linear differential equation, is considered for systems of two and three equations. Results for the case n equal to 2, closely parallel the results for linear homogeneous second order equations. For linear systems in three unknowns, information of a negative nature is obtained. That is, results for n equal to 2 cannot be extended to systems in three unknowns within the broad class of solution forms examined. (Author).

This book was released on 2021-09-08 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nonlinear differential equations are ubiquitous in computational science and engineering modeling, fluid dynamics, finance, and quantum mechanics, among other areas. Nowadays, solving challenging problems in an industrial setting requires a continuous interplay between the theory of such systems and the development and use of sophisticated computational methods that can guide and support the theoretical findings via practical computer simulations. Owing to the impressive development in computer technology and the introduction of fast numerical methods with reduced algorithmic and memory complexity, rigorous solutions in many applications have become possible. This book collects research papers from leading world experts in the field, highlighting ongoing trends, progress, and open problems in this critically important area of mathematics.

Book Nonlinear Differential Equations in Ordered Spaces

Download or read book Nonlinear Differential Equations in Ordered Spaces written by S. Carl and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2000-06-14 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Extremality results proved in this Monograph for an abstract operator equation provide the theoretical framework for developing new methods that allow the treatment of a variety of discontinuous initial and boundary value problems for both ordinary and partial differential equations, in explicit and implicit forms. By means of these extremality results, the authors prove the existence of extremal solutions between appropriate upper and lower solutions of first and second order discontinuous implicit and explicit ordinary and functional differential equations. They then study the dependence of these extremal solutions on the data. The authors begin by developing an existence theory for an abstract operator equation in ordered spaces and offer new tools for dealing with different kinds of discontinuous implicit and explicit differential equation problems. They present a unified approach to the existence of extremal solutions of quasilinear elliptic and parabolic problems and extend the upper and lower solution method to elliptic and parabolic inclusion of hemivariation type using variational and nonvariational methods. Nonlinear Differential Equations in Ordered Spaces includes research that appears for the first time in book form and is designed as a source book for pure and applied mathematicians. Its self-contained presentation along with numerous worked examples and complete, detailed proofs also make it accessible to researchers in engineering as well as advanced students in these fields.

Book Homotopy Analysis Method in Nonlinear Differential Equations

Download or read book Homotopy Analysis Method in Nonlinear Differential Equations written by Shijun Liao and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-06-22 with total page 566 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Homotopy Analysis Method in Nonlinear Differential Equations" presents the latest developments and applications of the analytic approximation method for highly nonlinear problems, namely the homotopy analysis method (HAM). Unlike perturbation methods, the HAM has nothing to do with small/large physical parameters. In addition, it provides great freedom to choose the equation-type of linear sub-problems and the base functions of a solution. Above all, it provides a convenient way to guarantee the convergence of a solution. This book consists of three parts. Part I provides its basic ideas and theoretical development. Part II presents the HAM-based Mathematica package BVPh 1.0 for nonlinear boundary-value problems and its applications. Part III shows the validity of the HAM for nonlinear PDEs, such as the American put option and resonance criterion of nonlinear travelling waves. New solutions to a number of nonlinear problems are presented, illustrating the originality of the HAM. Mathematica codes are freely available online to make it easy for readers to understand and use the HAM. This book is suitable for researchers and postgraduates in applied mathematics, physics, nonlinear mechanics, finance and engineering. Dr. Shijun Liao, a distinguished professor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, is a pioneer of the HAM.

Book Oscillation of Certain Types of Second Order Differential Equations

Download or read book Oscillation of Certain Types of Second Order Differential Equations written by Faisal AL-dheleai and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2014-05-12 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is well known that the differential equations fined a wide range of application in biological, physical, social and engineering. The interest on second order differential equations is due, in large part, to the fact that many physical systems are modeled by second order ordinary differential equations. For example, the so -called Emden-Fowler equation arises in the study of gas dynamics and fluid mechanics. The equation appears also in the study of relativistic mechanics, nuclear physics and in the study of chemically reacting systems. So, finding the solutions of the differential equations or deducing important characteristics of it has received the attention of many authors. In this work, via Integral averaging technique and Interval technique, we presented sufficient conditions for the oscillatory of the second order nonlinear differential equation with distributed deviating argument. Our results improve and extend some known results in the literature. Some illustrating examples are also provided to show the importance of our results.
