This book was released on 2022-11-29 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As improving energy efficiency and increasing energy R&D investment may be the main means for China's industrial sector to achieve sustainable growth, this book attempts to unify energy use efficiency and energy R&D inputs into a standardized economic analysis framework. By distinguishing between energy R&D inputs and non-energy R&D inputs, this book draws on the research paradigm of neoclassical economics to clarify the basic concepts and endogenous mechanisms of energy-saving technological progress as a logical starting point. Under the framework of the existing endogenous growth theory analysis, the heterogeneous R&D inputs are divided into two different mechanisms that affect energy use efficiency, namely factor substitution effect and energy-efficient input increase effect, and a heterogeneous R&D input is constructed. This book constructed an analytical framework for endogenous energy-saving technological progress in the industrial sector based on heterogeneous R&D inputs; it established a mathematical model for the endogenous energy-saving technological advancement of the industrial sector based on heterogeneous R&D inputs; it estimated the energy-saving technological progress rate of 37 Chinese industrial sub-sectors from 1980 to 2010; fourth, it has empirically examined the relationship between the heterogeneous R&D investment in China's industrial sector and its energy-saving technological advancement rate.
Download or read book The TRACE Econometric Model of the Canadian Economy written by Nanda K. Choudhry and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 1972-12-15 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The TRACE (Toronto annual Canadian econometric) model is an annual, non-linear econometric model of the Canadian economy designed primarily to forecast the statistics which appear in the principal tables of the Canadian National Income and Expenditure Accounts. TRACE is the first Canadian econometric model from which a published ex ante forecast has been made. In this book the authors describe the model and a high-speed computer. They show how the effects of alternative combinations of federal government policies can be examined by producing sets of conditional forecasts from the model. Both impact and long-run multiplier effects of changes in fiscal and monetary policy are derived from simulation experiments performed with the model. The results show the different effects that are obtained under régimes of fixed and floating foreign exchange rates. The book presents the economic theory underlying the model and provides information on estimates of the structural parameters of the Canadian economy. It will be of interest to those engaged in economic forecasting and policy analysis, as well as those studying macro-economic theory and econometric methods.

Download or read book Biased Technical Change and Economic Conservation Laws written by Ryuzo Sato and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-06-01 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Productivity of inputs is an important determinant of the competitiveness of firms in national and international markets. Productivity growth arises from deliberate decisions to innovate but the technological opportunities could be such that different inputs would have different rates of growth. Previous literature has mostly concentrated on labor productivity but empirical studies indicate that productivity of capital is also increasing. One of the objectives of this book is to examine the difference or bias in the productivity growth of the two inputs. In this book, application of this general approach to study of biased technical change is developed and new empirical results presented for both macroeconomies and microeconomic firms.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper examines sources of economic growth in East Asia. The conventional growth-accounting approach to estimating the sources of economic growth requires unrealistically strong assumptions about either competitiveness of factor markets or the form of the underlying aggregate production function. The paper outlines a new approach utilizing nonparametric derivative estimation techniques that does not require imposing these restrictive assumptions. The results for East Asian countries show that output elasticities of capital and labor tend to be different from the income shares of these factors. The paper also explores the compensating potential of private intergenerational transfers.

Download or read book Symmetry and Economic Invariance written by Ryuzo Sato and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-09 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Symmetry and Economic Invariance (second enhanced edition) explores how the symmetry and invariance of economic models can provide insights into their properties. Although the professional economist of today is adept at many of the mathematical techniques used in static and dynamic optimization models, group theory is still not among his or her repertoire of tools. The authors aim to show that group theoretic methods form a natural extension of the techniques commonly used in economics and that they can be easily mastered. Part I provides an introduction that minimizes prerequisites including prior knowledge of group theory. Part II discusses recent developments in the field.
