Book Nonstandard Analysis and Vector Lattices

Download or read book Nonstandard Analysis and Vector Lattices written by Semën Samsonovich Kutateladze and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nonstandard methods of analysis consist generally in comparative study of two interpretations of a mathematical claim or construction given as a formal symbolic expression by means of two different set-theoretic models: one, a "standard" model and the other, a "nonstandard" model. The second half of the twentieth century is a period of significant progress in these methods and their rapid development in a few directions. The first of the latter appears often under the name coined by its inventor, A. Robinson. This memorable but slightly presumptuous and defiant term, non standard analysis, often swaps places with the term Robinsonian or classical non standard analysis. The characteristic feature of Robinsonian analysis is a frequent usage of many controversial concepts appealing to the actual infinitely small and infinitely large quantities that have resided happily in natural sciences from ancient times but were strictly forbidden in modern mathematics for many decades. The present-day achievements revive the forgotten term infinitesimal analysis which reminds us expressively of the heroic bygones of Calculus. Infinitesimal analysis expands rapidly, bringing about radical reconsideration of the general conceptual system of mathematics. The principal reasons for this progress are twofold. Firstly, infinitesimal analysis provides us with a novel under standing for the method of indivisibles rooted deeply in the mathematical classics.

Book Analytic Methods for Coagulation Fragmentation Models Volume I

Download or read book Analytic Methods for Coagulation Fragmentation Models Volume I written by Jacek Banasiak and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-09-04 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Analytic Methods for Coagulation-Fragmentation Models is a two-volume set that provides a comprehensive exposition of the mathematical analysis of coagulation-fragmentation models. Initially, an in-depth survey of coagulation-fragmentation processes is presented, together with an account of relevant early results obtained on the associated model equations. These provide motivation for the subsequent detailed treatment of more up-to-date investigations which have led to significant theoretical developments on topics such as solvability and the long-term behaviour of solutions. To make the account as self-contained as possible, the mathematical tools that feature prominently in these modern treatments are introduced at appropriate places. The main theme of Volume I is the analysis of linear fragmentation models, with Volume II devoted to processes that involve the nonlinear contribution of coagulation. Features of Volume I: The main models of the theory together with their derivations and early methods of solution A detailed presentation of the operator theoretical methods and semigroup theory that play an essential role in the theory of fragmentation processes A comprehensive theory of fragmentation processes, including fragmentation with growth and decay in both the discrete and continuous particle size cases An analytical explanation of the `pathologies’ of the fragmentation equation, such as the shattering phase transition and non-uniqueness of solutions An analysis of the long-term dynamics of the discrete size fragmentation equation with growth

Book Ordered Sets and Lattices II

Download or read book Ordered Sets and Lattices II written by and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This indispensable reference source contains a wealth of information on lattice theory. The book presents a survey of virtually everything published in the fields of partially ordered sets, semilattices, lattices, and Boolean algebras that was reviewed in Referativnyi Zhurnal Matematika from mid-1982 to the end of 1985. A continuation of a previous volume (the English translation of which was published by the AMS in 1989, as volume 141 in Translations - Series 2), this comprehensive work contains more than 2200 references. Many of the papers covered here were originally published in virtually inaccessible places. The compilation of the volume was directed by Milan Kolibiar of Comenius University at Bratislava and Lev A. Skornyakov of Moscow University. Of interest to mathematicians, as well as to philosophers and computer scientists in certain areas, this unique compendium is a must for any mathematical library.
