Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Back Page Understanding what the Holy Spirit does in one’s life is compelling. Having the gift of the Holy Spirit marks one as belonging to the Most High. The Holy Spirit is Christ living within us, thus, giving us power to live transformed holy and righteous lives. Eyes have not seen, and ears have not heard the things the Church can do if they’d use the Holy Ghost’s power collectively. Apostle John shares a riveting story of events leading up to coming of the Holy Spirit and his dynamic and powerful entrance into the hearts of those who believed. The apostle tells how it was the plan of God to manifest Christ in believers through the power of his resurrection. John traces the power and moving of the Holy Spirit in his own life, how he was born in sin and, thus, subjected to its power and that he needed a greater power to release him from the prison of sin. He leads us to the Roman Empire who dared to say that they are all powerful with reigning authority over all land and humanity with its deified Caesars serving as gods. The display of God’s sovereignty proved that the Holy Ghost’s power supersedes the false power of Rome and its Caesars. The footsteps of Jesus rumbles across the pages as John reminds his audience of Jesus’s departure as comforter and how another Comforter would come and continue the work of salvation. So profound is this plan of eternal salvation, the saints awesome inspired testimonies poured from their hearts with such warmth and gladness. Apostle John journeys to Pentecost to speak of the great advent of the Holy Ghost as promised by Jesus. Cloven tongues like fire entered an Upper Room and sealed all the believers with the presence of Jesus in the form of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit’s power was demonstrated in such a way that it left no doubt that this he that is, was, and who was to come. The Power did not tarry in his coming and his presence forever. He deals with the Holy Ghost’s working in the lives of the chosen and within the body of Christ with such force and power. Finally John reminisces on the attributes of the person of the Spirit and how he is one with the Father and the Son.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For where you find the Blood of the Cross, you will find the anointing of the Holy Spirit ~ Benny Hinn When Derick Virgil, at eight years old, asked his mother How are we washed in the Blood of Jesus when He died 2000 years ago and there is none here to wash us? Based on James 1:5, she told him the best thing she could have ever told him, Ask God Derick, Ask God. So he did. Now, after over 30 years of study, this book has emerged and could be considered one of the deepest Bible Studies ever written on The Holy Third Person of the Trinity & Jesus Holy Blood. Based on Theoretical Physics, Logic and Hebrew and Greek word etymologies (history and meanings) in scriptures such as: Leviticus 17:11 the Life of the Flesh is in the Blood and Hebrews 9:14 How much more shall the Blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? and many more the author reveals how the Blood of Jesus, through the Holy Ghost, washes us from sin. Also revealed are connections between Jesus turning water into wine, God allowing Moses to turn the waters of Egypt into blood, Noahs ark, the Rapture and other major Biblical occurrences. The author invites readers to join him in a sort of dimensional Crime Scene Investigation at the foot of the Cross to determine the true nature of Jesus Blood and the mysterious way It ties together all of these epic Biblical events. Hopefully, while you may already "know" the Holy Ghost personally, this book will help you appreciate Him more, depend on Him more, and honor the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in a different way. Book A Soul Prepared for Heaven

Download or read book A Soul Prepared for Heaven written by W. Britt Stokes and published by Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht. This book was released on 2022-06-13 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From his first publication of hymns in 1707, common knowledge regarding Isaac Watts (1674–1748) often revolves around his hymn-writing legacy. Though Watts legacy as a hymnographer is significant, he also functions as a key transitional figure between the English Puritans and the Evangelicals during eighteenth-century English dissent. As a pastor, theologian, philosopher, and literary mainstay of his era, Watts' influence grew well beyond his early work in hymnody to impact scores of Christians on both sides of the Atlantic. Watts' approach to Christian spirituality is an area of his thought thats been unexplored. This book provides the first ever analysis of Watts' theological vision for the Christian spiritual life. In emphasizing the experience of holiness and happiness, Watts leans heavily upon his Reformed theological heritage to underscore how knowing and loving God are central to God's preparation of the soul for heaven.

Book Reformed Systematic Theology Volume 3

Download or read book Reformed Systematic Theology Volume 3 written by Joel Beeke and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2021-12-01 with total page 1061 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Here is catechesis at its best, instructing the student of theology, providing pastors with a sermon-enriching manual, and giving growing Christians a resource book that will both inform and nourish them, as well as provide endless theological enjoyment!" — Sinclair B. Ferguson, Chancellor's Professor of Systematic Theology, Reformed Theological Seminary; Teaching Fellow, Ligonier Ministries The aim of systematic theology is to engage not only the head but also the heart and hands. Only recently has the church compartmentalized these aspects of life—separating the academic discipline of theology from the spiritual disciplines of faith and obedience. This multivolume work brings together rigorous historical and theological scholarship with spiritual disciplines and practical insights—characterized by a simple, accessible, comprehensive, Reformed, and experiential approach. In this volume, Joel R. Beeke and Paul M. Smalley unpack the work and role of the Holy Spirit (Pneumatology) and salvation (soteriology). The authors examine the Holy Spirit's role in the history of salvation, the order of salvation, and the believers' experience of salvation. As readers consider the interrelationship between the Spirit and salvation, they are invited to explore the direct activity of the Lord in their lives for their salvation.

Book Karl Barth on the Filioque

Download or read book Karl Barth on the Filioque written by David Guretzki and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-04-22 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite the burgeoning literature on Karl Barth, his doctrine of the Holy Spirit continues to be under-appreciated by his friends and critics alike. Yet, while Barth's commitment to the doctrine of the procession of the Holy Spirit from the Father and the Son (Filioque) is well-known, many scholars dismiss his stand as ecumenically untenable and few have bothered to subject his stance on the Filioque to close theological analysis. For those interested in this long-standing ecumenical point of contention between Eastern and Western trinitarian theology, this book will show how Barth's doctrine of the Filioque may still have something to contribute to the debate. The work traces the origin of Barth's commitment to the Filioque in his early career (particularly in Romans and the Göttingen Dogmatics), and then analyzes how the doctrine functions throughout the Church Dogmatics. Guretzki concludes that Barth's doctrine of the Filioque, while clearly standing within the Western trinitarian tradition, is atypical in that he refuses to speak of a "double-procession" in favour of a "common procession" of the Spirit”a position that has more affinity with the Eastern position than many of Barth's critics may have thought

Book Theological Aesthetics

Download or read book Theological Aesthetics written by Gesa Elsbeth Thiessen and published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing. This book was released on 2005 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While interest in the relationship between theology and the arts is on the rise, there are very few resources for students and teachers, let alone a comprehensive text on the subject. This book fills that lacuna by providing an anthology of readings on theological aesthetics drawn from the first century to the present. A superb sourcebook, Theological Aesthetics brings together original texts that are relevant and timely to scholars today. Editor Gesa Elsbeth Thiessen has taken a careful, inclusive approach to the book, including articles and extracts that are diverse and ecumenical as well as representative of gender and ethnicity. The book is organized chronologically, and each historical period begins with commentary by Thiessen that sets the selections in context. These engaging readings range broadly over themes at the intersection of religion and the arts, including beauty and revelation, the vision of God, artistic and divine creation, God as artist, images of God, the interplay of the senses and the intellect, human imagination, mystical writings, meanings of signs and symbols, worship, liturgy, doxology, the relationship of word and image, icons and iconoclasm, the role of the arts in twentieth-century theology, and much more.
