L'autorité d laquelle était com mise la surveillance des nombreuses et souvent trop licencieme publications qui paraissaient et cette épo que, conservait, pour s'en servir au besoin, les lois répressives de la liberté d'écrire, mais elle en usait avec une grande tolérance, moyennant la formalité d'un pseudonyme qui couvrait l'auteur et l'impri meur. Toutefois on a peine a comprendre que l'éditeur des oeuvres DE pascal ait en à subir cette condition, uniquement parce qu'elles contenaient les provin ciales, publiées depuis cent vingt - dem: ans.
