Book Object Trajectory Estimation Using Optical Flow

Download or read book Object Trajectory Estimation Using Optical Flow written by Shuo Liu and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 63 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Object trajectory tracking is an important topic in many different areas. It is widely used in robot technology, traffic, movie industry, and others. Optical flow is a useful method in the object tracking branch and it can calculate the motion of each pixel between two frames, and thus it provides a possible way to get the trajectory of objects. There are numerous papers describing the implementation of optical flow. Some results are acceptable, but in many projects, there are limitations. In most previous applications, because the camera is usually static, it is easy to apply optical flow to identify the moving targets in a scene and get their trajectories. When the camera moves, a global motion will be added to the local motion, which complicates the issue. In this thesis we use a combination of optical flow and image correlation to deal with this problem, and have good experimental results. For trajectory estimation, we incorporate a Kalman Filter with the optical flow. Not only can we smooth the motion history, but we can also estimate the motion into the next frame. The addition of a spatial-temporal filter improves the results in our later process.

Book Optical Flow and Trajectory Estimation Methods

Download or read book Optical Flow and Trajectory Estimation Methods written by Joel Gibson and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-09-01 with total page 57 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This brief focuses on two main problems in the domain of optical flow and trajectory estimation: (i) The problem of finding convex optimization methods to apply sparsity to optical flow; and (ii) The problem of how to extend sparsity to improve trajectories in a computationally tractable way. Beginning with a review of optical flow fundamentals, it discusses the commonly used flow estimation strategies and the advantages or shortcomings of each. The brief also introduces the concepts associated with sparsity including dictionaries and low rank matrices. Next, it provides context for optical flow and trajectory methods including algorithms, data sets, and performance measurement. The second half of the brief covers sparse regularization of total variation optical flow and robust low rank trajectories. The authors describe a new approach that uses partially-overlapping patches to accelerate the calculation and is implemented in a coarse-to-fine strategy. Experimental results show that combining total variation and a sparse constraint from a learned dictionary is more effective than employing total variation alone. The brief is targeted at researchers and practitioners in the fields of engineering and computer science. It caters particularly to new researchers looking for cutting edge topics in optical flow as well as veterans of optical flow wishing to learn of the latest advances in multi-frame methods. /div

Book Optical Flow Based Moving Object Detection and Tracking System

Download or read book Optical Flow Based Moving Object Detection and Tracking System written by Manjunath Basavaiah and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2012-03 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Moving object detection in digital image sequence involves identification of the presence of an object in consecutive frames where as object tracking is used to monitor the movements with respect to the region of interest. In this project, the motion estimation is obtained using Optical Flow. Optical Flow is the distribution of apparent velocities of movement of brightness patterns in an image. Lucas-Kanade algorithm with Sobel, Horn and Guassian smoothing techniques is used in this work for computation of Optical Flow vectors. Single and multiple object movements with respect to the computed vectors are segmented using thresholding. The extracted movements are tracked using edge and centroid information. Suitable image enhancement techniques are applied to the segmented results to avoid the unwanted information present in the image. Real and virtual image data with static and dynamic environment are used as test sequences to validate the developed algorithms. The tracking performance, in terms of their accuracy and computation time, of the different algorithms with and without image pyramid is analysed and compared in MATLAB & C on Intel Core2 Duo processor on Linux environment.

Book Object Tracking Using Adapted Optical Flow

Download or read book Object Tracking Using Adapted Optical Flow written by Ronaldo Ferreira and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of this work is to present an object tracking algorithm developed from the combination of random tree techniques and optical flow adapted in terms of Gaussian curvature. This allows you to define a minimum surface limited by the contour of a two-dimensional image, which must or should not contain a minimum amount of optical flow vector associated with the movement of an object. The random tree will have the purpose of verifying the existence of superfluous vectors of optical flow by discarding them, defining a minimum number of vectors that characterizes the movement of the object. The results obtained were compared with those of the Lucas-Kanade algorithms with and without Gaussian filter, Horn and Schunk and Farneback. The items evaluated were precision and processing time, which made it possible to validate the results, despite the distinct nature between the algorithms. They were like those obtained in Lucas and Kanade with or without Gaussian filter, the Horn and Schunk, and better in relation to Farneback. This work allows analyzing the optical flow over small regions in an optimal way in relation to precision (and computational cost), enabling its application to area, such as cardiology, in the prediction of infarction.

Book The Complex valued Optical Fourier Transform and Its Application to Moving object Trajectory Estimation

Download or read book The Complex valued Optical Fourier Transform and Its Application to Moving object Trajectory Estimation written by Pierre M. Lane and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The number of operations required by the hybrid optical-digital Fourier processor is proportional to the number of desired points. If only a small number of points are required, the optical Fourier processor can be much more computationally efficient than a pruned 2-D FFT, especially when the input images are very large. The interferometric optical Fourier processor was employed to demonstrate the mixed-domain method of trajectory estimation. The mixed-domain technique is intended for the trajectory estimation of small, barely discernable, moving objects of unknown position and velocity. The interferometric optical Fourier processor is employed to determine the frequency-domain representation of moving objects embedded in an image sequence. The trajectory estimation system, based on the novel joint-transform interferometric optical Fourier processor, estimated the trajectory of multiple objects moving over both stationary and white noise backgrounds. The trajectories estimated using the optical Fourier processor compared favorably with those calculated using a digital FFT. The hybrid optical-digital calculation of the complex-valued Fourier transform at the selected frequency domain points required the measurement of six interferograms and approximately 200 floating-point operations. Calculation of the Fourier transform at the same points via the FFT required more than three orders of magnitude more floating-point operations.

Book Robust Subspace Estimation Using Low Rank Optimization

Download or read book Robust Subspace Estimation Using Low Rank Optimization written by Omar Oreifej and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2014-03-24 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Various fundamental applications in computer vision and machine learning require finding the basis of a certain subspace. Examples of such applications include face detection, motion estimation, and activity recognition. An increasing interest has been recently placed on this area as a result of significant advances in the mathematics of matrix rank optimization. Interestingly, robust subspace estimation can be posed as a low-rank optimization problem, which can be solved efficiently using techniques such as the method of Augmented Lagrange Multiplier. In this book, the authors discuss fundamental formulations and extensions for low-rank optimization-based subspace estimation and representation. By minimizing the rank of the matrix containing observations drawn from images, the authors demonstrate how to solve four fundamental computer vision problems, including video denosing, background subtraction, motion estimation, and activity recognition.
