Book Nuts to Butts

Download or read book Nuts to Butts written by R. W. Bishop Usn (Ret) and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2012-04 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For Rich Bishop, reporting to basic training for the US Navy was reminiscent of Dorothy leaving Kansas and ending up in Oz. The transition from civilian to navy life overwhelmed Bishop. In Nuts to Butts, he narrates excerpts of his twenty-two-year career from basic training to retirement. In this memoir, Bishop tells of meeting a wide assortment of people and the problems they brought with them. He shares the good and not-so-good times of serving in the fleet, including dealing with the loss of privacy, becoming a team member, and keeping US warships in mission-ready condition and the crews in shape to play the mental games required in an examination- and deployment-laden schedule. Nuts to Butts describes living through basic training, working in the scullery of an aircraft carrier, serving duty as shore patrol, visiting exotic ports of call for liberty, climbing a plateau with shear vertical sides in Sri Lanka, living on the naval base at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba, and making night dives among the sharks. Bishop provides keen insight into the life of a sailor, delivered with humor. He not only fondly remembers his service, but preserves the stories for all.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hi. I'm Libby Gelman-Waxner, and I'm an assistant buyer in juniors' activewear. While I find my work both rewarding and creative, especially with the new knits coming in, I want more. And so I decided to become a film critic.... Move over, Siskel & Ebert. Watch out, Leonard Maltin. And just forget saving that aisle seat, Mr. Medved. Libby Gelman-Waxner has arrived -- in the critic's circle, that is -- and the silver screen may never be the same again. Witty, wicked, and scathingly honest -- If You Ask Me is a hilarious collection of her columns from Premiere magazine. Just listen to Libby on some recent films and film stars: Prince of Tides -- "Barbra's only spontaneous moment in Prince of Tides comes when Nick tosses her a football and she screams 'My nails!'" Diane Keaton -- "She's a pioneer; she takes that thing that hangs in the back of your closet, the thing that was too marked down to pass up, Diane takes that thing and she doesn't call Goodwill, she wraps it around her head a few times, pins on a Smurf brooch, and wins an Oscar...." The Last of the Mohicans -- "Daniel Day-Lewis makes American actors look like giggly junior high school boys playing Nintendo during the prom; at one point, Madeleine asks Daniel what he is looking at, and he says, I'm looking at you, Miss, and let me tell you, the usher had to conk me with his flashlight to make me stop whimpering...." Daryl Hannah -- "All men in America, my Josh included, they all want a date with Daryl Hannah. A girl like Daryl -- we're not talking about a Ph.D. in comparative literature; I think we're talking about hair in the eyes and not much in the way of lingerie...."

Fearless."It's pretty safe to say that Spy was the most influential magazine of the 1980s. It might have remade New York's cultural landscape; it definitely changed the whole tone of magazine journalism. It was cruel, brilliant, beautifully written and perfectly designed, and feared by all. There's no magazine I know of that's so continually referenced, held up as a benchmark, and whose demise is so lamented" --Dave Eggers. "It's a piece of garbage" --Donald Trump.

Book Desire and Consent in Representations of Adolescent Sexuality with Adults

Download or read book Desire and Consent in Representations of Adolescent Sexuality with Adults written by Maureen Turim and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-09-29 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents an innovative comparative view of how the issue of adolescent sexuality and consent is differently treated in various media. Analyzing teenage sexual encounters with adults across a variety of media, including films, television, novels, and podcasts, the volume takes a positive stance on the expression of teenage sexuality, while remaining sensitive to the power of adults to abuse and manipulate. The anthology treats these representations as negotiations between conflicting forces: desire, sexual self-knowledge, unequal power, and the law, the latter both actual legal statutes and internalized law in the philosophical and psychoanalytic sense. Questions of unequal power inherent in such relations are theorized. The authors examine variations of this configuration of sexual relations between teenagers and adults from different perspectives, to consider how various forms of expression rework it formally. These essays are attuned to both nuances of presentation and contexts of reception, and they consider how aesthetics play a role. Contributing to the general debate about the ways that societies construct and regulate adolescent sexuality, this book will be of great interest to scholars and students of media studies, cultural studies, film studies, television studies, sociology, and gender studies

Ive fallen weary to the unyielding lustful grips of being a Sodomite for as long as I could remember; I Bite! its what I do best and Ive taken a big chunk out of my Beloved ShinShins life. Its taken some time to work this out; Ive been selfishly contemplating while struggling on how I go about explaining this piece to you, You; the General Public. Thousands of pages full of written documents and recorded records that had been left behind for me to find, sort through and tell stories of. Volume Three will be about that of ShinShin-Igami; who has been an infectious thorn in my side all these past many years. ShinShin hasnt been as careless and reckless or a bastard like myself and although he tries many time to change the way he is; its seems that no one ever change who they really are; no matter how hard or how much theyve sacrificed to do so. People only find ways of covering up for who they really are and established a fictitious persona in faces of their associates. This piece will detail the relationship that ShinShin has been involved with a contagious succubus who drained him of his youth and vitality, where his World was turned upside down by a bitch of a mother and her conniving whored daughter. Although ShinShin recovered from his misfortunes with the opposite sex; he bears the scars and scabs that she left embedded all over his body and this unfortunate situation has made him realized that life is sometime filled with ill-hearted and untruthful people who will take advantage of an ignorant giving person like himself. The eighteen months relation that ShinShin had been involved only gave him few moments of pleasures and much headaches and heartaches that eventually led to his unfortunate unresolved comatose death these past months. The person that came up with the phrase, The apple doesnt fall very far from the tree! was absolutely correct in uttering that statement; ShinShin have found that to be very true in his personal life because he was involved with a dishonest female who took after her evil-hearted mother. ShinShins relationship with this deceiving female was complicated with lies and deceptions where a sinful mother and ignorant daughter took advantage of his ever giving heart and good nature. During their relations, ShinShin loved the contagious succubus absolutely, only to find that he was being played and used after an 18 months long devotions and commitments; she was seeing one other or more while they were intimately and passionately involved. Personally, I feel that ShinShin have been the victim of an ugly hearted person. ShinShin had given up much for this contagious ugly unruly person; financially and emotionally; shunning his extended family; good friends and their family, giving up on promotions and putting aside higher education to make time for what he thought was true love. Although their relationships has taken the intimate/involved couples on several trips locally and internationally and got the two to participate in various events and outings together where they have crossed the Atlantic and Pacific and during that entire time there were signs of her deceits and lies; and yet, being a Pagan Christian; ShinShin was so gullible that he ignored what was happening in front him. He was ignorantly in love and like they say, Love is blind, and blind like an asshole ShinShin was during that entire year and a half. He was much into this ugly-heart female and gave her his all and what he got in return wasnt nearly reciprocal. She has given him much heartache thats complicated with various mental/physical diseased infections. Ive had my share of ups and down in life; my early childhood was spent imprisoned, escaping and hiding away from the tyranny of the Khmer Rouge. After many years of relocating and moving around in various Refugee Encampments with my family, my early years in
