Book Comparison Between Navier Stokes and DSMC Calculations for Low Reynolds Number Slip Flow Past a Confined Microsphere

Download or read book Comparison Between Navier Stokes and DSMC Calculations for Low Reynolds Number Slip Flow Past a Confined Microsphere written by and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the present investigation, slip-continuum and molecular (DSMC) flow models have been used to compare the drag coefficient on a confined microsphere over a range of Knudsen numbers between 0.01 and 0.4. The simulations consider a fixed Reynolds number (Re=0.125) and a range of blockage ratios from 2.0 up to 13.0. Two separate problem formulations have been studied; the first considers flow past a confined sphere moving with a constant velocity along the central axis of the pipe while the second considers Poiseuille flow past a stationary confined sphere. Finally, their combination - the case of a confined sphere moving within the carrier Poiseuille flow is investigated using the DSMC method.

Book Flow Past a Sphere and a Prolate Spheroid at Low Reynolds Numbers

Download or read book Flow Past a Sphere and a Prolate Spheroid at Low Reynolds Numbers written by Youfeng Zhang and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present work carries out numerical simulations of viscous incompressible flow past a sphere or a spheroid at low Reynolds numbers. When the flow passes a sphere or a spheroid, the flow will have its motion changed because of the shear stress from the surface of the object. This change of motion also differs at different Reynolds numbers based on the geometry of the sphere or spheroid. Many fluids researchers have conducted experiments to investigate the variations of the flow past a sphere at low Reynolds numbers. But the research on flow past a spheroid mainly focuses on cases at high Reynolds numbers (Re>105). Up to date, numerical study on flow past a spheroid at low and intermediate Reynolds numbers (

Book Numerical Simulation of Incompressible Viscous Flow

Download or read book Numerical Simulation of Incompressible Viscous Flow written by Roland Glowinski and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2022-09-20 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book on finite element-based computational methods for solving incompressible viscous fluid flow problems shows readers how to apply operator splitting techniques to decouple complicated computational fluid dynamics problems into a sequence of relatively simpler sub-problems at each time step, such as hemispherical cavity flow, cavity flow of an Oldroyd-B viscoelastic flow, and particle interaction in an Oldroyd-B type viscoelastic fluid. Efficient and robust numerical methods for solving those resulting simpler sub-problems are introduced and discussed. Interesting computational results are presented to show the capability of methodologies addressed in the book.
