Book Numerical Investigations of a Pipe Jet with Coil Insert Issuing Into a Crossflow

Download or read book Numerical Investigations of a Pipe Jet with Coil Insert Issuing Into a Crossflow written by Saul Guzman and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 66 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: Numerical investigations of a jet in crossflow with two different coil inserts at four ratios of jet to the crossflow mean velocities were performed. The coils had a length to diameter (L/D) ratio of 2 and 11.25 and the velocity ratios, r, were 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, and 5.0. Results show when r=0.5, with coil inserts, jet penetration into the crossflow is reduced with increased entrainment near the jet outlet. Further results show that when r=2, and 5, near the jet outlet entrainments are reduced, with jet penetrating into higher elevations, before tilting in the direction of the crossflow. Comparing the results for the two coil inserts, with the shorter coil insert, higher penetration is obtained and with the longer coil, turbulent kinetic energy is increased in the near field.

Book Numerical Investigation of Reacting Jet in crossflow at High Pressure

Download or read book Numerical Investigation of Reacting Jet in crossflow at High Pressure written by Bernhard Stiehl and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 105 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Simulated jet trajectories were in good agreement with the data and were described by an elliptic curvature to compensate for the poor far-field prediction of existing correlations. Non-premixed fuel-air condition in the axial fuel line resulted in an ignition point further downstream and reduced reaction rates. This delay can affect a NO benefit paired with relatively rich headend equivalence ratio, reducing the residence time of the reacting axial jet without exceeding spatial limitations. Dependencies of axial NO emission on the key influence parameters temperature, pressure and residence time were proposed.

Book Numerical Evaluation of a Solution Representing a Jet in Cross Flow

Download or read book Numerical Evaluation of a Solution Representing a Jet in Cross Flow written by C. C. Lytton and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page 51 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A recent study of a jet emerging from a circular pipe into a weak cross flow under the assumptions of an inviscid and incompressible fluid led to expressions for the velocity potential in different regions near the orifice as definite integrals and infinite sums. In the present paper the expressions relating to flow inside the pipe and jet are evaluated with great care. It is confirmed that the solutions in the pipe and jet are continuous across the orifice plane. The behaviour of the solution near the orifice is displayed in graphical form, with emphasis on the consequences of the failure to satisfy a Kutta conditions of smooth outflow at the lip. Keywords: Incompressible flow; Inviscid flow; Jets; Jet in cross flow; Great Britain. (jhd).

Book Introduction to Permanent Plug and Abandonment of Wells

Download or read book Introduction to Permanent Plug and Abandonment of Wells written by Mahmoud Khalifeh and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-01-27 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This open access book offers a timely guide to challenges and current practices to permanently plug and abandon hydrocarbon wells. With a focus on offshore North Sea, it analyzes the process of plug and abandonment of hydrocarbon wells through the establishment of permanent well barriers. It provides the reader with extensive knowledge on the type of barriers, their functioning and verification. It then discusses plug and abandonment methodologies, analyzing different types of permanent plugging materials. Last, it describes some tests for verifying the integrity and functionality of installed permanent barriers. The book offers a comprehensive reference guide to well plugging and abandonment (P&A) and well integrity testing. The book also presents new technologies that have been proposed to be used in plugging and abandoning of wells, which might be game-changing technologies, but they are still in laboratory or testing level. Given its scope, it addresses students and researchers in both academia and industry. It also provides information for engineers who work in petroleum industry and should be familiarized with P&A of hydrocarbon wells to reduce the time of P&A by considering it during well planning and construction.
