Book Numerical Grid Generation in Computational Fluid Dynamics and Related Fields

Download or read book Numerical Grid Generation in Computational Fluid Dynamics and Related Fields written by A. S.- Arcilla and published by North Holland. This book was released on 1991 with total page 1040 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This proceedings is the result of the increasing interest in the development and application of grid generation techniques in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and related fields. The use of these techniques, formerly restricted to research and specialist organizations, is becoming more widespread due to significant advances in hardware and software technology. This conference series was started in 1986 to serve as an internationally acknowledged forum for researchers in the - at the time - novel and emerging field of grid generation techniques applied to CFD. In addition to a 20-page color section, this edition contains papers covering a wide spectrum of methods and techniques, both theoretical and applied, contributing to the scientific advance of this field.

Book Fundamentals of Grid Generation

Download or read book Fundamentals of Grid Generation written by Patrick Knupp and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-12-17 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fundamentals of Grid Generation is an outstanding text/reference designed to introduce students in applied mathematics, mechanical engineering, and aerospace engineering to structured grid generation. It provides excellent reference material for practitioners in industry, and it presents new concepts to researchers. Readers will learn what boundary-conforming grids are, how to generate them, and how to devise their own methods. The text is written in a clear, intuitive style that doesn't get bogged down in unnecessary abstractions. Topics covered include planar, surface, and 3-D grid generation; numerical techniques; solution adaptivity; the finite volume approach to discretization of hosted equations; concepts from elementary differential geometry; and the transformation of differential operators to general coordinate systems. The book also reviews the literature on algebraic, conformal, orthogonal, hyperbolic, parabolic, elliptic, biharmonic, and variational approaches to grid generation. This unique volume closes with the author's original methods of variational grid generation.

Book Multiblock Grid Generation

Download or read book Multiblock Grid Generation written by Nigel P. Weatherill and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computational Fluid Dynamics research, especially for aeronautics, continues to be a rewarding and industrially relevant field of applied science in which to work. An enthusiastic international community of expert CFD workers continue to push forward the frontiers of knowledge in increasing number. Applications of CFD technology in many other sectors of industry are being successfully tackled. The aerospace industry has made significant investments and enjoys considerable benefits from the application of CFD to its products for the last two decades. This era began with the pioneering work ofMurman and others that took us into the transonic (potential flow) regime for the first time in the early 1970's. We have also seen momentous developments of the digital computer in this period into vector and parallel supercomputing. Very significant advances in all aspects of the methodology have been made to the point where we are on the threshold of calculating solutions for the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations for complete aircraft configurations. However, significant problems and challenges remain in the areas of physical modelling, numerics and computing technology. The long term industrial requirements are captured in the U. S. Governments 'Grand Challenge' for 'Aerospace Vehicle Design' for the 1990's: 'Massively parallel computing systems and advanced parallel software technology and algorithms will enable the development and validation of multidisciplinary, coupled methods. These methods will allow the numerical simulation and design optimisation of complete aerospace vehicle systems throughout the flight envelope'.

Book International Conference on Numerical Grid Generation in Computational Fluid Dynamics

Download or read book International Conference on Numerical Grid Generation in Computational Fluid Dynamics written by and published by . This book was released on 1989 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The International Conference series on Numerical Grid Generation in Computational Fluid Dynamics was started in July 1986 to recognize grid generation as an essential subject of Computational Fluid Dynamics which needs individual attention. The conference is held bi-annually with the purpose of disseminating new ideas, recent advances and difficulties encountered by researchers around the world while solving practical Computational Fluid Dynamics problems. The second conference in the series was held in Miami, Florida, USA, during the week of December 5-9, 1988. The main theme of the conference was 2-D and 3-D adaptive grid methods. Nevertheless, papers were invited from all relevant conventional areas such as algebraic, boundary fit, and conformal mapping methods and other areas including applications in computational mechanics.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The mathematical aspects of grid generation are discussed to provide a deeper understanding of the algorithms and their imitations.

Book Applications of Mesh Generation to Complex 3 D Configurations

Download or read book Applications of Mesh Generation to Complex 3 D Configurations written by North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Advisory Group for Aerospace Research and Development. Fluid Dynamics Panel. Specialists' Meeting and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The AGARD Fluid Dynamics Panel sponsored this Symposium to provide a survey of the capabilities of the CFD community for griding complex 3-D configurations. The intent was to provide some insight to the present state of grid generation for complex configurations to help assess whether this task presents a long-term stumbling block to the routine use of CFD in aerodynamic applications. To this end, the meeting was structured in five sessions: General Surveys, Algebraic Grid Generation, Block Structured Meshes, Multiblock-Adaptive Meshes and Unstructured Meshes. Thwenty-two papers from these sessions amply gemonstrated that the viability of a numerical solution depends directly on the quality of the mesh and surface representation as measured by its spacing and resolution. Of Particular interest was the mesh generation for complex configurations, such as advanced fighter or transport aircraft, missiles and space vehicles, where complex geometries and/or complex flowfields have to be analysed. Results from this meeting indicate that geometry discretization and generation of meshes for complex 3-D configurations in aerospace will continue to be time- and cost-consuming operations fro some time to come.
