Book VI 7 Ordinis sexti tomus septimus

Download or read book VI 7 Ordinis sexti tomus septimus written by P.F. Hovingh and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2011-12-16 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ASD VI,7 comprises Erasmus's Annotations on Paul's Epistle to the Romans. In this very interesting letter many subjects with respect to justification by faith, the relation between Jews and Christians and so on are treated. Erasmus comments on them, defending his translation of the New Testament, but also using the remarks by several theologians and Fathers of the Church on these topics in order to defend his own theological convictions. Hovingh comments on this commentary by Erasmus, identifying his sources and stilistic and grammatical peculiarities.

Book Europe and the Mediterranean as Linguistic Areas

Download or read book Europe and the Mediterranean as Linguistic Areas written by Paolo Ramat and published by John Benjamins Publishing. This book was released on 2007-07-13 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is a collection of 12 papers which originated from a research project on ‘Europe and the Mediterranean from a linguistic point of view: history and prospects’. The papers deal with specific morphosyntactic aspects of language structure and evolution. The comparative perspective is adopted both from a synchronic (typological) and a diachronic (historical) angle, focusing in particular on possible contact phenomena. Therefore, methodological key words of this book are areal typology and linguistic area. The issues addressed cover such diverse aspects of language structure and change as verb morphology, relative clause formation, Noun Phrase determination, demonstrative systems, possessive markers in Noun Phrases, conjunctive, disjunctive and adversative constructions, non-canonical object marking, impersonal constructions, reduplication and early translations of the Gospels. These topics are discussed particularly in relation to Romance, Germanic, Celtic and Semitic languages, both modern and ancient. This book will interest researchers in typological, historical, functional and general linguistics.

Book The Ascension of the Messiah in Lukan Christology

Download or read book The Ascension of the Messiah in Lukan Christology written by Arie W. Zwiep and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2014-04-09 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Building on the form-critical assessment of the Lukan ascension story (LK 24:50-53; Acts 1:1-12) as a rapture story, and motivated by the consideration that the 'monotheistic principle' almost inevitably must have led to a reestimate of the meaning and function of rapture in comparison with heathen rapture stories (immortalisation and deification!), the present study seeks to investigate the Lukan ascension story in the light of the first-century Jewish rapture traditions (Enoch, Elijah, Moses, Baruch, Ezra, etc.). The author argues that first-century Judaism provides a more plausible horizon of understanding for the ascension story than the Graeco-Roman rapture tradition, and that Luke develops his 'rapture christology' not as a reinterpretation of the primitive exaltation kerygma (G. Lohfink), but as a response to the eschatological question, i.e. the delay of the parousia, so as to secure the unity of salvation history.
