Book Non Associative Normed Algebras Volume 1 The Vidav Palmer and Gelfand Naimark Theorems

Download or read book Non Associative Normed Algebras Volume 1 The Vidav Palmer and Gelfand Naimark Theorems written by Miguel Cabrera García and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2014-07-31 with total page 735 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This first systematic account of the basic theory of normed algebras, without assuming associativity, includes many new and unpublished results and is sure to become a central resource for researchers and graduate students in the field. This first volume focuses on the non-associative generalizations of (associative) C*-algebras provided by the so-called non-associative Gelfand–Naimark and Vidav–Palmer theorems, which give rise to alternative C*-algebras and non-commutative JB*-algebras, respectively. The relationship between non-commutative JB*-algebras and JB*-triples is also fully discussed. The second volume covers Zel'manov's celebrated work in Jordan theory to derive classification theorems for non-commutative JB*-algebras and JB*-triples, as well as other topics. The book interweaves pure algebra, geometry of normed spaces, and complex analysis, and includes a wealth of historical comments, background material, examples and exercises. The authors also provide an extensive bibliography.

This book was released on 2018-04-12 with total page 759 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This first systematic account of the basic theory of normed algebras, without assuming associativity, includes many new and unpublished results and is sure to become a central resource for researchers and graduate students in the field. This book interweaves pure algebra, geometry of normed spaces, and infinite-dimensional complex analysis. Novel proofs are presented in complete detail at a level accessible to graduate students. The book contains a wealth of historical comments, background material, examples, and an extensive bibliography.

Book Jordan Triple Systems in Complex and Functional Analysis

Download or read book Jordan Triple Systems in Complex and Functional Analysis written by José M. Isidro and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2019-12-09 with total page 560 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a systematic account of the impressive developments in the theory of symmetric manifolds achieved over the past 50 years. It contains detailed and friendly, but rigorous, proofs of the key results in the theory. Milestones are the study of the group of holomomorphic automorphisms of bounded domains in a complex Banach space (Vigué and Upmeier in the late 1970s), Kaup's theorem on the equivalence of the categories of symmetric Banach manifolds and that of hermitian Jordan triple systems, and the culminating point in the process: the Riemann mapping theorem for complex Banach spaces (Kaup, 1982). This led to the introduction of wide classes of Banach spaces known as JB∗-triples and JBW∗-triples whose geometry has been thoroughly studied by several outstanding mathematicians in the late 1980s. The book presents a good example of fruitful interaction between different branches of mathematics, making it attractive for mathematicians interested in various fields such as algebra, differential geometry and, of course, complex and functional analysis.

Book Jordan Structures in Lie Algebras

Download or read book Jordan Structures in Lie Algebras written by Antonio Fernández López and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2019-08-19 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Explores applications of Jordan theory to the theory of Lie algebras. After presenting the general theory of nonassociative algebras and of Lie algebras, the book then explains how properties of the Jordan algebra attached to a Jordan element of a Lie algebra can be used to reveal properties of the Lie algebra itself.

Book Equivalents of the Riemann Hypothesis Volume 1 Arithmetic Equivalents

Download or read book Equivalents of the Riemann Hypothesis Volume 1 Arithmetic Equivalents written by Kevin Broughan and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2017-11-02 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Riemann hypothesis (RH) is perhaps the most important outstanding problem in mathematics. This two-volume text presents the main known equivalents to RH using analytic and computational methods. The book is gentle on the reader with definitions repeated, proofs split into logical sections, and graphical descriptions of the relations between different results. It also includes extensive tables, supplementary computational tools, and open problems suitable for research. Accompanying software is free to download. These books will interest mathematicians who wish to update their knowledge, graduate and senior undergraduate students seeking accessible research problems in number theory, and others who want to explore and extend results computationally. Each volume can be read independently. Volume 1 presents classical and modern arithmetic equivalents to RH, with some analytic methods. Volume 2 covers equivalences with a strong analytic orientation, supported by an extensive set of appendices containing fully developed proofs.

Book Positivity and its Applications

Download or read book Positivity and its Applications written by Eder Kikianty and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-07-22 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This proceedings volume features selected contributions from the conference Positivity X. The field of positivity deals with ordered mathematical structures and their applications. At the biannual series of Positivity conferences, the latest developments in this diverse field are presented. The 2019 edition was no different, with lectures covering a broad spectrum of topics, including vector and Banach lattices and operators on such spaces, abstract stochastic processes in an ordered setting, the theory and applications of positive semi-groups to partial differential equations, Hilbert geometries, positivity in Banach algebras and, in particular, operator algebras, as well as applications to mathematical economics and financial mathematics. The contributions in this book reflect the variety of topics discussed at the conference. They will be of interest to researchers in functional analysis, operator theory, measure and integration theory, operator algebras, and economics. Positivity X was dedicated to the memory of our late colleague and friend, Coenraad Labuschagne. His untimely death in 2018 came as an enormous shock to the Positivity community. He was a prominent figure in the Positivity community and was at the forefront of the recent development of abstract stochastic processes in a vector lattice context.

Book Generalized B Algebras and Applications

Download or read book Generalized B Algebras and Applications written by Maria Fragoulopoulou and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-06-09 with total page 251 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reviews the theory of 'generalized B*-algebras' (GB*-algebras), a class of complete locally convex *-algebras which includes all C*-algebras and some of their extensions. A functional calculus and a spectral theory for GB*-algebras is presented, together with results such as Ogasawara's commutativity condition, Gelfand–Naimark type theorems, a Vidav–Palmer type theorem, an unbounded representation theory, and miscellaneous applications. Numerous contributions to the subject have been made since its initiation by G.R. Allan in 1967, including the notable early work of his student P.G. Dixon. Providing an exposition of existing research in the field, the book aims to make this growing theory as familiar as possible to postgraduate students interested in functional analysis, (unbounded) operator theory and its relationship to mathematical physics. It also addresses researchers interested in extensions of the celebrated theory of C*-algebras.
