Book Non Retaliation in Early Jewish and New Testament Texts

Download or read book Non Retaliation in Early Jewish and New Testament Texts written by Gordon Zerbe and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 1993-10-01 with total page 326 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study examines the varieties and continuities of ethical exhortations and ideals in the Jewish and Christian traditions (c. 200 BCE-100 CE) that fall under the rubric of non-retaliation. One of the principal conclusions of this thought-provoking work is that a critical factor in determining the shape of non-retaliatory ethics is whether the exhortation is applied to relations within the local and/or elect community or to relations with oppressors of the elect community. It becomes apparent also that the non-retaliatory ethic of the NT stands solidly in the tradition of non-retaliatory ethics in Early Judaism.

Book Lectures on Non linear Plasma Kinetics

Download or read book Lectures on Non linear Plasma Kinetics written by Vadim N. Tsytovich and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 381 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lectures on Non-linear Plasma Kinetics is an introduction to modern non-linear plasma physics showing how many of the techniques of modern non-linear physics find applications in plasma physics and how, in turn, the results of this research find applications in astrophysics. Emphasis is given to explaining the physics of nonlinear processes and the radical change of cross-sections by collective effects. The author discusses new nonlinear phenomena involving the excitation of coherent nonlinear structures and the dynamics of their random motions in relation to new self-organization processes. He also gives a detailed description of applications of the general theory to various research fields, including the interaction of powerful radiation with matter, controlled thermonuclear research, etc.

Book Non Equilibrium Reacting Gas Flows

Download or read book Non Equilibrium Reacting Gas Flows written by Ekaterina Nagnibeda and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-07-09 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the present monograph, we develop the kinetic theory of transport phenomena and relaxation processes in the flows of reacting gas mixtures and discuss its applications to strongly non-equilibrium conditions. The main attention is focused on the influence of non-equilibrium kinetics on gas dynamics and transport properties. Closed systems of fluid dynamic equations are derived from the kinetic equations in different approaches. We consider the most accurate approach taking into account the state-to-state kinetics in a flow, as well as simplified multi-temperature and one-temperature models based on quasi-stationary distributions. Within these approaches, we propose the algorithms for the calculation of the transport coefficients and rate coefficients of chemical reactions and energy exchanges in non-equilibrium flows; the developed techniques are based on the fundamental kinetic theory principles. The theory is applied to the modeling of non-equilibrium flows behind strong shock waves, in the boundary layer, and in nozzles. The comparison of the results obtained within the frame of different approaches is presented, the advantages of the new state-to-state kinetic model are discussed, and the limits of validity for simplified models are established. The book can be interesting for scientists and graduate students working on physical gas dynamics, aerothermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, non-equilibrium physical-chemical kinetics, and kinetic theory of gases.

Book Non Stationary Electromagnetics

Download or read book Non Stationary Electromagnetics written by Alexander Nerukh and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-26 with total page 474 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is devoted to the investigations of non-stationary electromagnetic processes. The investigations are undertaken analytically mainly using the Volterra integral equations approach. The book contains a systematic statement of this approach for the investigations of electrodynamics phenomena in the time domain and new results and applications in microwave techniques and photonics. Particular consideration is given to electromagnetic transients in time-varying media and their potential applications. The approach is formulated and electromagnetic phenomena are investigated in detail for a hollow metal waveguide, which contains moving dielectric or plasma-bounded medium, and dielectric waveguides with time-varying medium inside a core.

Book The Creation of Strange Non Chaotic Attractors in Non Smooth Saddle Node Bifurcations

Download or read book The Creation of Strange Non Chaotic Attractors in Non Smooth Saddle Node Bifurcations written by Tobias H. JŠger and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2009-08-07 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The author proposes a general mechanism by which strange non-chaotic attractors (SNA) are created during the collision of invariant curves in quasiperiodically forced systems. This mechanism, and its implementation in different models, is first discussed on an heuristic level and by means of simulations. In the considered examples, a stable and an unstable invariant circle undergo a saddle-node bifurcation, but instead of a neutral invariant curve there exists a strange non-chaotic attractor-repeller pair at the bifurcation point. This process is accompanied by a very characteristic behaviour of the invariant curves prior to their collision, which the author calls `exponential evolution of peaks'.

Book Nuclear Non proliferation Treaty

Download or read book Nuclear Non proliferation Treaty written by Kristen Boon and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Terrorism: Commentary on Security Documents is a series that provides primary source documents and expert commentary on the worldwide counter-terrorism effort. Among the documents collected are transcripts of Congressional testimony, reports by such federal government bodies as the Congressional Research Service (CRS) and the Government Accountability Office (GAO), and case law covering issues related to terrorism. Each volume carries a single theme, and inside each volume the documents appear within topic-based categories. The series also includes a subject index and other indices that guide the user through this complex area of the law. Volume 121, Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, covers recent developments relating to the 2010 NPT Review Conference, primarily those pertaining to Iran and North Korea. After the 2005 Review Conference ended without a final consensus declaration due to disputes over Iran's nuclear activities, Israel's nuclear program, and implementation of the Middle East nuclear weapon-free zone, the lack of consensus in 2005 combined with continued concern over the nuclear programs of Iran and North Korea made the 2010 Review Conference a critical moment in the achievement of the NPT's goals. Kristen Boon provides introductory analysis of the key documents relating to the NPT generally and the 2010 NPT Review Conference in particular. The documents in this volume include the Final Declaration of the 2000 Conference, statements made by the key parties at the 2010 Conference, the Final Statement of the 2010 Conference, and related UN Security Council resolutions from 2009 and 2010. Professor Boon also includes renewed discussion of two critical past documents, the U.S. Nuclear Posture Review Report of April 6, 2010, and the U.S. National Security Strategy of May 27, 2010.

Book Local Modelling of Non Local Dependencies in Syntax

Download or read book Local Modelling of Non Local Dependencies in Syntax written by Artemis Alexiadou and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 532 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Syntactic dependencies are often non-local: They can involve two positions in a syntactic structure whose correspondence cannot be captured by invoking concepts like minimal clause or predicate/argument structure. Relevant phenomena include long-distance movement, long-distance reflexivization, long-distance agreement, control, non-local deletion, long-distance case assignment, consecutio temporum, extended scope of negation, and semantic binding of pronouns. A recurring strategy pursued in many contemporary syntactic theories is to model cases of non-local dependencies in a strictly local way, by successively passing on the relevant information in small domains of syntactic structures. The present volume brings together eighteen articles that investigate non-local dependencies in movement, agreement, binding, scope, and deletion constructions from different theoretical backgrounds (among them versions of the Minimalist Program, HPSG, and Categorial Grammar), and based on evidence from a variety of typologically distinct languages. This way, advantages and disadvantages of local treatments of non-local dependencies become evident. Furthermore, it turns out that local analyses of non-local phenomena developed in different syntactic theories (spanning the derivational/declarative divide) often may not only share identical research questions but also rely on identical research strategies.

Book Covert Modality in Non finite Contexts

Download or read book Covert Modality in Non finite Contexts written by Rajesh Bhatt and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2006 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Main description: This book investigates the distribution and interpretation of Covert Modality. Covert Modality is modality which we interpret but which is not associated with any lexical item in the structure that we are interpreting. The book analyzes a class of environments that involves covert modality e.g. infinitival questions, infinitival relative clauses, purpose clauses, the 'have to' construction, and the 'is to' construction.

Book Insight into Gandhi s Non Violent Non co operation Movement

Download or read book Insight into Gandhi s Non Violent Non co operation Movement written by B.R. Dubey and published by The Readers Paradise . This book was released on 2020-12-09 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The freedom struggles the world over aiming at liberty from the foreign yoke have been political in nature and the changes in social institutions, if any, were only incidental having not been originally designed or at best post independence script. In sharp contrast stands the 'Non-violent Non-co-operation movement', launched by Mahatma Gandhi for Swaraj built on the foundation of social reforms - HinduMuslim-Unity, removal of untouchability, empowerment of women, Swadeshi and adherence to non-violence as a policy. Phraseology of the 'Nonco-operation movement', in itself gives the philosophy, purpose and content of the movement. However, without a serious study of the movement the vital point missed by the people in understanding the movement is that non-co-operation with the government (British Raj) presupposed co-operation within ourselves - the freedom fighters regardless of religion, caste or creed. This entailed the evolution of the Constructive Programme - the programme of action for strengthening and sustaining the movement. Attempt has been made in the study to understand how Gandhi succeeded in a short period in bringing much needed solidarity for the movement and Swaraj in the Indian society divided by religion and internal caste conflicts in the majority Hindu community. Gandhi era means 1919-1948 because he launched the movement in 1919, which made Mr. Gandhi - Mahatma Gandhi, and 1948, when he fell to an assailant's bullet and was called the Father of the Nation. Way back in 1917 he prophetically said that 'Only if I die for India shall I know that I was fit to live'. Gandhi era means Gandhi and Gandhi alone in this period. A comprehensive study of the entire period was not possible for an old man of 83 years in a short period. Therefore, the period chosen for this study is 1919-1922 which is the most momentous period of the freedom struggle as also the initial period of the movement to ascertain probability of its success. For this purpose, this objective driven book has been divided in two parts. While the second part deals with the movement in chronological order from the data sieved from the Collected Works of Mahatma Gandhi to show that the movement was not only the brainchild of Gandhi but its course and eventual suspension was also decided by him, the second part is more in the nature of analysis for the serious and general readers alike to appreciate objectively the greatness of the leader.
