Book Wine Faults and Flaws

Download or read book Wine Faults and Flaws written by Keith Grainger and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2021-05-19 with total page 528 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An essential guide to the faults and flaws that can affect wine Written by the award-winning wine expert, Keith Grainger, this book provides a detailed examination and explanation of the causes and impact of the faults, flaws and taints that may affect wine. Each fault is discussed using the following criteria: what it is; how it can be detected by sensory or laboratory analysis; what the cause is; how it might be prevented; whether an affected wine is treatable, and if so, how; and the science applicable to the fault. The incidences of faulty wines reaching the consumer are greater than would be regarded as acceptable in most other industries. It is claimed that occurrences are less common today than in recent recorded history, and it is true that the frequency of some faults and taints being encountered in bottle has declined in the last decade or two. However, incidences of certain faults and taints have increased, and issues that were once unheard of now affect many wines offered for sale. These include ‘reduced’ aromas, premature oxidation, atypical ageing and, very much on the rise, smoke taint. This book will prove invaluable to winemakers, wine technologists and quality control professionals. Wine critics, writers, educators and sommeliers will also find the topics highly relevant. The wine-loving consumer, including wine collectors will also find the book a great resource and the basis for discussion at tastings with like-minded associates. Reviews I read this book avidly from cover to cover. I’ll dip into it for future reference as required, which is how many will employ it. Meanwhile, I learned a great deal, and it now influences how I think about wine evaluation. I commend this excellent new book to you. Consider it an investment. Paul Howard, Wine Alchemy

Book No Fault Found

Download or read book No Fault Found written by Ian K Jennions and published by SAE International. This book was released on 2015-09-03 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today, we are all strongly dependent on the correct functioning of technical systems. They fail, and we become vulnerable. Disruptions due to degradation or anomalous behavior can negatively impact safety, operations, and brand name, reducing the profitability of all elements of the value chain. This can be tolerated if the link between cause and effect is understood and remedied. Anomalous behavior, which indicates systems or subsystems not acting in accordance with design intent, is a much more serious problem. It includes unwanted system responses and faults whose root cause can’t be properly diagnosed, leading to costly, and sometimes unnecessary, component replacements. The title No Fault Found: The Search for the Root Cause was developed to propose solutions to this technical and business challenge, which has become less and less acceptable to the commercial aviation industry globally. Bringing together the areas of systems engineering and quality management, this unique book lists relevant terminology for consistent reporting, addresses the importance of “soft” human factors, and deals with aspects of availability and safety, operating policies, tools, diagnostic design, and the use of the right technology.

Book Fault Lines in the Constitution

Download or read book Fault Lines in the Constitution written by Cynthia Levinson and published by Peachtree Publishers. This book was released on 2017-09-01 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many of the political issues we struggle with today have their roots in the US Constitution. Husband-and-wife team Cynthia and Sanford Levinson take readers back to the creation of this historic document and discuss how contemporary problems were first introduced—then they offer possible solutions. Think Electoral College, gerrymandering, even the Senate. Many of us take these features in our system for granted. But they came about through haggling in an overheated room in 1787, and we’re still experiencing the ramifications. Each chapter in this timely and thoughtful exploration of the Constitution’s creation begins with a story—all but one of them true—that connects directly back to a section of the document that forms the basis of our society and government. From the award-winning team, Cynthia Levinson, children’s book author, and Sanford Levinson, constitutional law scholar, Fault Lines in the Constitution will encourage exploration and discussion from young and old readers alike.

Book Hidden Divinity and Religious Belief

Download or read book Hidden Divinity and Religious Belief written by Adam Green and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2016-02-05 with total page 307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of new essays written by an international team of scholars is a groundbreaking examination of the problem of divine hiddenness, one of the most dynamic areas in current philosophy of religion. Together, the essays constitute a wide-ranging dialogue on the problem. They balance atheistic and theistic standpoints, and they bring to bear not only on the standard philosophical perspectives but also on insights from Jewish, Muslim, and Eastern Orthodox traditions. The apophatic and the mystical are well-represented too. As a result, the volume throws fresh light on this familiar but important topic in the philosophy of religion. In the process, the volume incorporates contemporary work in epistemology, philosophy of mind and philosophy of language. For all these reasons, this book will be of great interest to researchers and advanced students in philosophy of religion and theology.

Book Defect and Fault Tolerance in VLSI Systems

This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 313 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Higher circuit densities, increasingly more complex application ohjectives, and advanced packaging technologies have suhstantially increased the need to incorporate defect-tolerance and fault-tolerance in the design of VLSI and WSI systems. The goals of defect-tolerance and fault-tolerance are yield enhancement and improved reliahility. The emphasis on this area has resulted in a new field of interdisciplinary scientific research. I n fact, advanced methods of defect/fault control and tolerance are resulting in enhanced manufacturahility and productivity of integrated circuit chips, VI.SI systems, and wafer scale integrated circuits. In 1987, Dr. W. Moore organized an "International Workshop on Designing for Yield" at Oxford University. Edited papers of that workshop were published in reference [II. The participants in that workshop agreed that meetings of this type should he con tinued. preferahly on a yearly hasis. It was Dr. I. Book I Ching An Annotation

Download or read book I Ching An Annotation written by Zhongyuan Cai and published by Scientific Research Publishing, Inc. USA. This book was released on 2020-01-01 with total page 471 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I Ching is a well-known ancient Chinese philosophical work and is also an only philosophical work in the world which studies how things operate, change and develop with symbols as its tenet. Based on the dualism of yin and yang, it classifies the properties of Heaven and Earth and all created things by virtue of images. And it divides all the laws existing in nature into sixty-four parts. Fuhsi summed up the theories of the Eight Trigrams by observing the phenomena of astronomy, geography and human affairs. Likewise, based on the Eight Trigrams, King Wen continued to make each trigram overlap with the other (including with itself) and advance the theories of the Sixty-four Hexagrams by observing the phenomena of astronomy, geography and human affairs. Later, Chou Kung (Duke of Chou) continued to replenish and refine the book and Confucius and many other scholars continued to improve and polish it as a complete philosophical work. Besides, Yen Emperor’s Lien Shan and Yellow Emperor’s Kuei Ts’ang failed to be passed on to the subsequent generations.
