It's knowing you are vulnerable and that someone is ready to take advantage of your weakness. It's the fraternity you never wanted to join-the fellowship of the wounded spirit. And Frank Peretti is a member, too. In this powerful book, Frank Peretti shares his deeply personal story of growing up different, and the persecution he suffered because of it. And from this reservoir of memories he urges: those being abused to speak up and seek help those in authority to take notice- and action the "strong" kids to stand up and protect the weak- not prey upon them all of us to stop thinking of abuse as "normal" or as "kids being kids" This groundbreaking work shows how we all - bullies and victims alike - can find both healing and forgiveness from the anguish and torment associated with the growing epidemic of bullying.

This book was released on 2011-08 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I think most of us have been bullied at one time in our life or another. I believe there were times we may not have realize we were being bullied! If we were not being hit or yelled at we were not being bullied. Not true! Have you ever had something gnaw away at you in the pit of your stomach and you did not know what it was? I have. Have you ever been left out of a conversation not only when you were young but now as adults? It hurts and is so uncomfortable. Have you ever been laughed at and to you for no reason at all? Have you ever had people just look down at you? Have you ever had people make you feel worthless without having to say anything? Has anyone ever teased you until it hurt? Yes, these are all forms of bullying. Have you ever yelled at your children and I don't mean just normal mom and dad discipline? Have you said things you should not have and did not realize it was emotional abuse to your children? The things that I have heard parents say are stupid and shut up. That is just a couple things. Think about it and then apologize to your children - no matter how old or young they are! Just love them! If any of the above sounds familiar, you are a bully! That is right! Re-read the bad feelings above and if you have done that to anyone you know, well maybe you need to tell them just how sorry you are! This goes for bosses also! Being a boss does not give you the right to be a bully! If you think you will get a better employee that way you are so wrong!

Book Successful Leaders Aren t Bullies

Download or read book Successful Leaders Aren t Bullies written by Matt Paknis and published by Post Hill Press. This book was released on 2018-09-25 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My father loved power and expressed himself through domestic violence and bullying. I never thought I’d see that in the workplace too. As often happens with domestic abuse, I was vulnerable to being sexually abused, which happened between my fifth and eighth grades. Through good therapy, I found salvation in the two things I knew best: love and violence. I found football. I loved the teamwork, friendships, drills, the strategy. I was also good. Eventually, I was recruited by numerous Ivy League universities. I chose Brown. During senior year I was offered a coaching position of Brown’s freshmen linemen. I jumped at the chance. This led to a unique opportunity to coach with Don James, a mentor of coaches at the University of Washington or with reigning National Championship Coach and Sportsman of the Year, Joe Paterno, at Penn State. I preferred Coach James’s style, but my father bullied me into working for Paterno—and Jerry Sandusky—the two most vile and ruthless bullies in NCAA coaching history. In addition to Sandusky’s horrific and hidden pedophilia, Paterno’s and his staff’s bizarre behaviors, abuse of power, control dynamics, bullying, selfishness, narcissism, and deceptions forever soured me to college football coaching. I was motivated to earn an MBA with a focus on how good sports concepts, namely great leadership and teamwork, can affect organizations. From my experiences, bullying is epidemic. Victims may not realize they are being bullied, they may not know where to turn for help and advocacy, and they may not know how to stop this vile behavior. Successful Leaders Aren’t Bullies presents actual bullying cases I’ve experienced and addressed in the workplace with clients over the past twenty-six years. It empowers good leaders to choose leadership and to understand the benefits of leading with healthy behaviors and to intervene and to stop bullying. It will inspire and mobilize bullied victims to overcome and to thrive by presenting examples of resilient and healthy individuals and organizations.
