Book Phosphorus Nitrogen Compounds

Download or read book Phosphorus Nitrogen Compounds written by H Allcock and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 513 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Phosphorus-Nitrogen Compounds: Cyclic, Linear, and High Polymeric Systems concerns itself with the chemistry of compounds containing alternating phosphorus - nitrogen atoms in the skeleton. The monograph aims to be an introduction to phosphorus-nitrogen chemistry, a review of advances in the field, and reference work. The text is divided into three parts. Part I covers the introduction, historical background, and nomenclature of phosphorus-nitrogen compounds and the theories in bonding and structure of phosphazenes and phosphazanes. Part II deals with reactions such as the synthesis of the phosphorus-nitrogen skeleton, hydrolysis of phosphazenes and phosphazanes, and the aminolysis of halophosphazenes. Part III discusses polymer chemistry and includes topics such as polymerization, depolymerization, and phosphazene polymers. The book is recommended for students and practitioners in the field of chemistry, especially those concerned with phosphorus nitrogen compounds and polymeric systems.

Book Carbon 13 NMR

Download or read book Carbon 13 NMR written by Peter Hanisch and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This treatise describes a study of the conformation of nitrogen and phosphorus heterocyclic compounds using carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance methods. Isolation and assignment of the configuration of the three diasteroisomers of 1,3,5-trimethyl-4-phenylpiperidin-4- ol and the conformational effects in 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl substituted piperidine rings are described. In addition, the possibility of detecting boat (non-chair) conformations in 4-phenylpiperidin-4-ol derivatives is discussed. A carbon-13 nmr solvent study of the model system, 3-pi peridinol, was carried out to detect conformations where intramolecular hydrogen bonding interactions of the type -N--H-0- are possible. Several 3-tropinone derivatives were studied and evidence is presented for boat (non-chair) conformations where similar -N-C=0 and -N-H-0- interactions are implicated. Several representative six-membered ring phosphorus heterocycles were also studied in both the Pill and PIV oxidation states. Evidence is presented for the predominance of axial phenyl groups in several 1-phenylphosphorinanes. Additivity effects were derived for the phosphorus systems and comparisons made with analogous nitrogen heterocyclic parameters. The effect of the PIV oxidation state upon the chemical shifts in the aromatic ring of various phenyl phosphine oxides and the consequent valence bond structure of these oxides is reported. As a corollary, the chemical shifts of several dienones used as synthetic precursors in the above studies are reported and the effect of introducing a cross-conjugated double bond to the enone in acyclic and alicyclic systems is discussed.

Book Phosphorus 31 NMR Spectroscopy

Download or read book Phosphorus 31 NMR Spectroscopy written by Olaf Kühl and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-08-22 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nuclear Magnetic Resonance is a powerful tool, especially for the identification of 1 13 hitherto unknown organic compounds. H- and C-NMR spectroscopy is known and applied by virtually every synthetically working Organic Chemist. Con- quently, the factors governing the differences in chemical shift values, based on chemical environment, bonding, temperature, solvent, pH, etc. , are well understood, and specialty methods developed for almost every conceivable structural challenge. Proton and carbon NMR spectroscopy is part of most bachelors degree courses, with advanced methods integrated into masters degree and other graduate courses. In view of this universal knowledge about proton and carbon NMR spectr- copy within the chemical community, it is remarkable that heteronuclear NMR is still looked upon as something of a curiosity. Admittedly, most organic compounds contain only nitrogen, oxygen, and sulfur atoms, as well as the obligatory hydrogen and carbon atoms, elements that have an unfavourable isotope distribution when it comes to NMR spectroscopy. Each of these three elements has a dominant isotope: 14 16 32 16 32 N (99. 63% natural abundance), O (99. 76%), and S (95. 02%), with O, S, and 34 14 S (4. 21%) NMR silent. N has a nuclear moment I = 1 and a sizeable quadrupolar moment that makes the NMR signals usually very broad and dif cult to analyse.

Book Research on Phosphorus nitrogen Compounds

Download or read book Research on Phosphorus nitrogen Compounds written by Margot Becke-Goehring and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 27 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Phosphoric acid amides with PCl5 as well as hydroxyl ammonium salts with PCl5 (or with PC13) lead to the compound C13P=N-P(O)Cl2, which is also formed in the reaction between PCl3 and N2O4. The nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum of this compound was studied. The phosphorus atoms in the compound possess the coordination number 4 and are chemically equivalent. The two phosphorus atoms are connected by a nitrogen bridge and a coupling constant of 15.4 c.p.s. was measured. The reactions of PCl5 with NH4Cl in solvents of not too low dielectric constant leads in good yield to P3NCl12, a compound whose constitutions was elucidated through chemical reactions, measurement of electrical conductivity and study of the nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To date nitrogen NMR has been discussed in research papers and review articles throughout the scientific literature. It has been our aim in preparing this book to provide a comprehen sive account of the widely spread applications of nitrogen NMR. The relevant literature has been surveyed from the beginnings of NMR until early 1972. The steady annual growth in the number of references cited since 1965 is ample evidence of the ever increasing importance of the subject. Sufficient theoretical and experimental background is given for an understanding of the applications dealt with in later chapters. The basic principles of NMR are developed with a theoretical approach to chemical shifts and spin-spin coupling constants, particular emphasis being given to nitrogen nuclei. Following this the experimental aspects of nitrogen NMR are adequately described. Special emphasis is given to the observable effects of the nuclear quadrupole moment of the 14 N nucleus. It is appro priate that this topic be dealt with in depth since quadrupolar interactions frequently dominate the information available from a study of the 14 N nucleus and other nuclei spin coupled to it. The applications of nitrogen chemical shift data to organic and inorganic molecules are covered in two extensive chapters which include the effects of paramagnetism on nitrogen NMR.

Book Organometallic Chemistry

Download or read book Organometallic Chemistry written by E W Abel and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2007-10-31 with total page 560 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organometallic chemistry is an interdisciplinary science which continues to grow at a rapid pace. Although there is continued interest in synthetic and structural studies the last decade has seen a growing interest in the potential of organometallic chemistry to provide answers to problems in catalysis synthetic organic chemistry and also in the development of new materials. This Specialist Periodical Report aims to reflect these current interests reviewing progress in theoretical organometallic chemistry, main group chemistry, the lanthanides and all aspects of transition metal chemistry. Specialist Periodical Reports provide systematic and detailed review coverage of progress in the major areas of chemical research. Written by experts in their specialist fields the series creates a unique service for the active research chemist, supplying regular critical in-depth accounts of progress in particular areas of chemistry. For over 80 years the Royal Society of Chemistry and its predecessor, the Chemical Society, have been publishing reports charting developments in chemistry, which originally took the form of Annual Reports. However, by 1967 the whole spectrum of chemistry could no longer be contained within one volume and the series Specialist Periodical Reports was born. The Annual Reports themselves still existed but were divided into two, and subsequently three, volumes covering Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry. For more general coverage of the highlights in chemistry they remain a 'must'. Since that time the SPR series has altered according to the fluctuating degree of activity in various fields of chemistry. Some titles have remained unchanged, while others have altered their emphasis along with their titles; some have been combined under a new name whereas others have had to be discontinued. The current list of Specialist Periodical Reports can be seen on the inside flap of this volume.

Book Unusual Structures and Physical Properties in Organometallic Chemistry

Download or read book Unusual Structures and Physical Properties in Organometallic Chemistry written by Marcel Gielen and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2003-08-01 with total page 446 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The principal idea of this volume is to offer a Capita Selecta of unconventional and thought-provoking topics in organometallic chemistry, presented by experts in each field. As intended, this approach leads either to reviews covering a specific uncommon class of organometallic compounds or to overviews which relate uncommon physical properties with various classes of organometallic compounds. The contributions are streamlined thus onto two main axes - unusual properties reflecting structures and bonding situations, on the one hand, and uncommon structural features or structure-reactivity relationships, on the other. Extensive cross-referencing of useful information is provided, making this volume accessible for people working in rather different areas of organometallic chemistry. The synthesis of molecules with 'extreme' properties is a challenge for all those working in organometallic chemistry, irrelevant of theoretical/computational, synthetic or application interests. This book presents case studies at the interface of these overlapping interests. Unusual Structures and Physical Properties in Organometallic Chemistry: * Provides test cases for computational and theoretical models * Presents a challenge for synthetic chemists * Provides ideal show cases for analytical techniques This volume will be an invaluable reference for researchers in organometallic chemistry, computational and theoretical chemistry, NMR and other spectroscopic methods.
