Book Nico Special Edition

Download or read book Nico Special Edition written by Shaw Hart and published by Shaw Hart. This book was released on 2023-04-30 with total page 79 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: He’s the strong and silent type. Most people are a little afraid of Nico when they first meet him, but it doesn’t take long to see that while he might look scary, with his almost permanent frown, tattoos, and size, he was actually a giant teddy bear. He doesn’t really care what people think about him, preferring to spend his time alone with his drawing pad. That is until he meets Edie West. She’s smart, successful, driven, and the most beautiful thing that he’s ever seen. Even if she talks too much. Edie is a translator who loves traveling all over the world for her job. She never wanted to settle down or be a stay at home mom. She wants to experience everything in life. One encounter with Nico though, and she doesn’t want to let him go. Will he be able to convince her that settling down with him doesn’t mean settling?

Book The Velvet Underground s The Velvet Underground and Nico

Download or read book The Velvet Underground s The Velvet Underground and Nico written by Joe Harvard and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 2004-03-31 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Velvet Underground and Nico has influenced the sound of more bands than any other album. And remarkably, it still sounds as fresh and challenging today as it did upon its release in 1967. In this book, Joe Harvard covers everything from Lou Reed's lyrical genius to John Cale's groundbreaking instrumentation, and from the creative input of Andy Warhol to the fine details of the recording process. With input from co-producer Norman Dolph and Velvets fan Jonathan Richman, Harvard documents the creation of a record which - in the eyes of many - has never been matched. EXCERPT In 1966, some studios, like Abbey Road, had technicians in white lab coats, and even the less formal studios usually had actual engineering graduates behind the consoles. Studios were still more about science than art. Clients who dared make technical suggestions were treated with bemusement, derision, or hostility. The Velvets were a young band under constant critical attack, and the pressure to conform in order to gain acceptance must have been tremendous. Most bands of that era compromised with their record companies, through wholesale revamping of their image from wardrobe to musical style, changing or omitting lyrics, creating drastically edited versions for radio airplay, or eliminating songs entirely from their sets and records. With Andy Warhol in the band's corner, such threats were minimized.

Book Will My Mannequin Be Home When I Return

Download or read book Will My Mannequin Be Home When I Return written by Arko Datto and published by . This book was released on 2020-07-31 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "For photographer Arko Datto, these nocturnal realms offer the perfect space to create hallucinatory narratives about raw social and political issues. Using his flash to candidly capture both people and animals in their urban environments, his resulting images appear as highly aestheticized accidents - cinematic stills from a feverish nightmare. A departure from his acclaimed work Pik-Nik, the two series Will My Mannequin Be Home When I Return and What News of the Snake That Lost Its Heart In The Fire work to address current political climates in India, Malaysia and Indonesia. These two series will soon be followed by a third installation about Bangladesh, becoming a trilogy tied together by Datto's abrupt camera flash in the darkness of nighttime." -- LensCulture website.
