Book Progress in Commutative Algebra 1

Download or read book Progress in Commutative Algebra 1 written by Christopher Francisco and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2012-04-26 with total page 377 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first of two volumes of a state-of-the-art survey article collection which originates from three commutative algebra sessions at the 2009 Fall Southeastern American Mathematical Society Meeting at Florida Atlantic University. The articles reach into diverse areas of commutative algebra and build a bridge between Noetherian and non-Noetherian commutative algebra. These volumes present current trends in two of the most active areas of commutative algebra: non-noetherian rings (factorization, ideal theory, integrality), and noetherian rings (the local theory, graded situation, and interactions with combinatorics and geometry). This volume contains combinatorial and homological surveys. The combinatorial papers document some of the increasing focus in commutative algebra recently on the interaction between algebra and combinatorics. Specifically, one can use combinatorial techniques to investigate resolutions and other algebraic structures as with the papers of Fløystad on Boij-Söderburg theory, of Geramita, Harbourne and Migliore, and of Cooper on Hilbert functions, of Clark on minimal poset resolutions and of Mermin on simplicial resolutions. One can also utilize algebraic invariants to understand combinatorial structures like graphs, hypergraphs, and simplicial complexes such as in the paper of Morey and Villarreal on edge ideals. Homological techniques have become indispensable tools for the study of noetherian rings. These ideas have yielded amazing levels of interaction with other fields like algebraic topology (via differential graded techniques as well as the foundations of homological algebra), analysis (via the study of D-modules), and combinatorics (as described in the previous paragraph). The homological articles the editors have included in this volume relate mostly to how homological techniques help us better understand rings and singularities both noetherian and non-noetherian such as in the papers by Roberts, Yao, Hummel and Leuschke.

Book Recent Trends in Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations

Download or read book Recent Trends in Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations written by Patrizia Pucci and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2013 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the second of two volumes that contain the proceedings of the Workshop on Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations, held from May 28-June 1, 2012, at the University of Perugia in honor of Patrizia Pucci's 60th birthday. The workshop brought together leading experts and researchers in nonlinear partial differential equations to promote research and to stimulate interactions among the participants. The workshop program testified to the wide ranging influence of Patrizia Pucci on the field of nonlinear analysis and partial differential equations. In her own work, Patrizia Pucci has been a seminal influence in many important areas: the maximum principle, qualitative analysis of solutions to many classes of nonlinear PDEs (Kirchhoff problems, polyharmonic systems), mountain pass theorem in the critical case, critical exponents, variational identities, as well as various degenerate or singular phenomena in mathematical physics. This same breadth is reflected in the mathematical papers included in this volume. The companion volume (Contemporary Mathematics, Volume 594) is devoted to evolution problems in nonlinear partial differential equations.

Book New Trends in Hopf Algebra Theory

Download or read book New Trends in Hopf Algebra Theory written by Nicolás Andruskiewitsch and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2000 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents the proceedings from the Colloquium on Quantum Groups and Hopf Algebras held in Cordoba (Argentina) in 1999. The meeting brought together researchers who discussed recent developments in Hopf algebras, one of the most important being the influence of quantum groups. Articles offer introductory expositions and surveys on topics of current interest that, to date, have not been available in the current literature. Surveys are included on characteristics of Hopf algebras and their generalizations, biFrobenius algebras, braided Hopf algebras, inner actions and Galois theory, face algebras, and infinitesimal Hopf algebras. The following topics are also covered: existence of integrals, classification of semisimple and pointed Hopf algebras, *-Hopf algebras, dendriform algebras, etc. Non-classical topics are also included, reflecting its applications both inside and outside the theory.

Book Non commutative Multiple Valued Logic Algebras

Download or read book Non commutative Multiple Valued Logic Algebras written by Lavinia Corina Ciungu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-08-23 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph provides a self-contained and easy-to-read introduction to non-commutative multiple-valued logic algebras; a subject which has attracted much interest in the past few years because of its impact on information science, artificial intelligence and other subjects. A study of the newest results in the field, the monograph includes treatment of pseudo-BCK algebras, pseudo-hoops, residuated lattices, bounded divisible residuated lattices, pseudo-MTL algebras, pseudo-BL algebras and pseudo-MV algebras. It provides a fresh perspective on new trends in logic and algebras in that algebraic structures can be developed into fuzzy logics which connect quantum mechanics, mathematical logic, probability theory, algebra and soft computing. Written in a clear, concise and direct manner, Non-Commutative Multiple-Valued Logic Algebras will be of interest to masters and PhD students, as well as researchers in mathematical logic and theoretical computer science.

Book Algebraic Groups and Quantum Groups

Download or read book Algebraic Groups and Quantum Groups written by Susumu Ariki and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2012 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the proceedings of the tenth international conference on Representation Theory of Algebraic Groups and Quantum Groups, held August 2-6, 2010, at Nagoya University, Nagoya, Japan. The survey articles and original papers contained in this volume offer a comprehensive view of current developments in the field. Among others reflecting recent trends, one central theme is research on representations in the affine case. In three articles, the authors study representations of W-algebras and affine Lie algebras at the critical level, and three other articles are related to crystals in the affine case, that is, Mirkovic-Vilonen polytopes for affine type $A$ and Kerov-Kirillov-Reshetikhin type bijection for affine type $E_6$. Other contributions cover a variety of topics such as modular representation theory of finite groups of Lie type, quantum queer super Lie algebras, Khovanov's arc algebra, Hecke algebras and cyclotomic $q$-Schur algebras, $G_1T$-Verma modules for reductive algebraic groups, equivariant $K$-theory of quantum vector bundles, and the cluster algebra. This book is suitable for graduate students and researchers interested in geometric and combinatorial representation theory, and other related fields.
