Book International Investments in Private Equity

Download or read book International Investments in Private Equity written by Peter Klaus Cornelius and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2011-02-17 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How can private equity investors exploit investment opportunities in foreign markets? Peter Cornelius uses a proprietary database to investigate and describe private equity markets worldwide, revealing their levels of integration, their risks, and the ways that investors can mitigate those risks. In three major sections that concentrate on the risk and return profile of private equity, the growth dynamics of discrete markets and geographies, and opportunities for private equity investments, he offers hard-to-find analyses that fill knowledge gaps about foreign markets. Observing that despite the progressive dismantling of barriers investors are still home-biased, he demonstrates that a methodical approach to understanding foreign private equity markets can take advantage of the macroeconomic and structural factors that drive supply and demand dynamics in individual markets. Foreword by Josh Lerner Teaches readers how to investigate and analyze foreign private equity markets Forecasts private equity investment opportunities via macroeconomic and structural factors in individual markets Draws on data from a proprietary database covering 250 buyout and VC funds and 7,000 portfolio companies

Book Asset Price Inflation in the 1980 s

Download or read book Asset Price Inflation in the 1980 s written by Mr.Garry J. Schinasi and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 1993-10-01 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper examines how and why financial resources were channeled almost exclusively to specific asset markets in Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States in the late 1980s. A decline in demand for funds by traditional borrowers, and a shift by savers from banks toward indirect securities investments were critical factors in all three cases. Until intermediaries and investors learned to evaluate new opportunities, funds were recycled in certain asset markets. The pressures on Japanese asset markets were particularly intense because of the size of Japan’s domestic saving relative to traditional domestic investment opportunities.

Book excerpt: Debunking outdated and inaccurate beliefs about investment management and reveals the new realities of the post-modern financial markets There have been a lot of big changes in the investment world over the past decade, and many long-cherished beliefs about the structures and performance of various investments no longer apply. Unfortunately the news seems not to have reached many thought leaders and investment professionals who persist in trying, and failing, to apply 20th-century thinking to 21st-century portfolio management. Book Foreign Direct Investment and the World Economy

Download or read book Foreign Direct Investment and the World Economy written by Ashoka Mody and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2007-01-24 with total page 375 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Asking the question of whether Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) is 'integrating' the world economy, this comprehensive volume consists of an overview of current FDI research. While the term 'integrating' is often used, the real test should be whether FDI is instrumental in bringing per capita incomes across countries closer together. By this yardstick, the answer is no. The forces driving FDI are strong; they lead it to flow to countries with attractive investment conditions and, moreover, investors have a tendency to follow each other. It is in such settings that FDI appears to have the most beneficial effect in raising growth. Written by an authority in this area, Ashoka Mody, this book will greatly appeal to all international and development economists.

Book Work and Organizations in Israel

Download or read book Work and Organizations in Israel written by Itzhak Harpaz and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-09-04 with total page 733 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the State of Israel was established, its labor force has grown rapidly and has become increasingly diverse in terms of its demographic, cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic characteristics. Israeli work values have shifted towards greater individualism, materialism, careerism, and preference for white-collar and knowledge-based occupations is evident. A major structural change is underway, as indicated by the decline of agriculture as a component in the Israeli economy and the growth of the industrial sector--mostly towards high technology and innovative enterprises. This volume sheds light on trends and developments that have been taking place in the realm of work in Israel in recent years. It contains a unique selection of articles presenting empirical evidence of the major features and important changes characterizing work organizations and the regime of work in Israeli society: labor relations, work values, power and management in organizations, work in the Kibbutz, inter-organizational relations, women and work, migrants and minorities in the Israeli labor force. Studies show that another two major trends characterize the contemporary economy and the labor market: the trend toward privatization and globalization, the results of which are a continuous decrease of job security and an increasing level of unemployed Israeli men and women that are replaced by the low-cost labor of foreign workers emigrating from third world countries. This timely volume is valuable for its contribution to illuminating the recent changes taking place in the realm of work in Israel, and will be of interest to sociologists, social scientists, and students of Judaica.

Book Banking on Fraud

Download or read book Banking on Fraud written by Mary Zey and published by Transaction Publishers. This book was released on with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In addressing these questions, Zey demonstrates how the ordinary networks developed through the buying and selling of bonds were linked to the extraordinary networks of the Boesky Organizations and Employee Private Partnerships to defraud bond issuers and buyers. Her analysis not only defines the networks as the avenues of power, but also traces the direction of the power relationships between corporations and investment bankers and between investment bankers and the congressmen relevant to banking interests. The book provides evidence that debunks the myth of rational economic organization in the 19805 and establishes broad implications for theories of organizational deviance.
