Book Antineutrino proton Interactions in the 15 foot Bubble Chamber

Download or read book Antineutrino proton Interactions in the 15 foot Bubble Chamber written by and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From 24,000 pictures of the Fermilab 15-foot hydrogen bubble chamber exposed to a broad band anti $nu$ beam, there were 89 anti $nu$p $Yields$ $mu$$sup +$ + X$sup 0$ events with a total momentum in the charged tracks greater than 5 GeV/c obtained. The techniques used to identify the muon are discussed, and the anti $nu$ energy is estimated. The charged particle multiplicity distributions and the mean $pi$$sup 0$ multiplicity are presented. The semi- inclusive X, Y, Z, Q$sup 2$ and W distributions are compared with model predictions. The rate of strange particle production is measured. No evidence was found for charm particle production. (auth).

Book Preliminary Proposal to Study Neutrino Interactions with Neutrons and Protons Using the 15 Foot Bubble Chamber at NAL Filled with Deuterium

Download or read book Preliminary Proposal to Study Neutrino Interactions with Neutrons and Protons Using the 15 Foot Bubble Chamber at NAL Filled with Deuterium written by and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We propose an investigation of neutrino interactions in the deuterium filled 15-foot bubble chamber at NAL. A 250,000 picture run with 200 GeV protons should yield very interesting physics even with a 'bare' deuterium chamber. This addendum extends the physics discussion in the original proposal to the search for charm particles, and the study of neutral currents. A (?{sub {mu}}, d) bubble chamber exposure with E{sub P} = 200-300 GeV is the most promising experiment that can be done to search for the type of charm particles that are essential to Gauge theories of weak and electromagnetic interactions. This addendum updates and summarizes Proposal 151. We propose a 300,000 picture run of the 15-foot bubble chamber filled with deuterium exposed to a wide band, 2 horn, neutrino beam from protons of energy E{sub p} ≥ 300 GeV. The analysis will be based primarily on the bare bubble chamber data but will also use the EMI wherever useful. The physics purposes of the experiment include: (1) Extensive search for charmed baryons and mesons; Determination of the ratio of the total charged current cross sections?(?, n)/?(?,0); (3) Determination of d2?{sup C.C.}/dxdy for (?, n) and (?, p) interactions separately; (4) Study of (?, n) and (?, p) neutral current interactions; and (5) Physics of Special Channels in charged current and neutral current events.

Book Neutrino Interactions with Electrons and Protons

Download or read book Neutrino Interactions with Electrons and Protons written by A.K. Mann and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1997-05-08 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Market: Researchers and graduate students in high energy physics, physics historians. This book contains 13 papers that reflect the development of neutrino interactions with the electrons and protons in a fixed-target experiment that, beginning in 1980, grew out of the formal collaboration in high energy physics between Japanese and American institutions. These experiments were crucial to the merger of quantum electrodynamics and quantum weak dynamics, the foundation of electroweak theory today.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A complete treatise on the subject of the neutrino includes interpretation of experimental results in terms of existing theories on this nuclear particle. It incorporates material on post-parity experiments which appeared following the Lee and Yang discoveries in 1956 concerning parity non-conservation in weak interactions. Originally published in 1958. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. These editions preserve the original texts of these important books while presenting them in durable paperback and hardcover editions. The goal of the Princeton Legacy Library is to vastly increase access to the rich scholarly heritage found in the thousands of books published by Princeton University Press since its founding in 1905.

Book State Of The Art Of Neutrino Physics The A Tutorial For Graduate Students And Young Researchers

Download or read book State Of The Art Of Neutrino Physics The A Tutorial For Graduate Students And Young Researchers written by Antonio Ereditato and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2018-03-23 with total page 580 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The neutrino is the most fascinating elementary particle due to its elusive nature and outstanding properties that have attracted the interest of generations of physicists since 1930, when it was first postulated by Wolfgang Pauli as a 'desperate remedy' to explain the apparent energy violation in the beta decay. Many fundamental discoveries in particle physics had the neutrino involved in one way or another. To date, neutrino physics is still one of the hottest topics of modern particle physics. Key experiments and significant theoretical developments have contributed in building up what we can call now the Standard Model of Neutrino Physics. The aim of the book is to provide graduate students and young researchers a comprehensive tutorial in modern neutrino physics, specially tailored with emphasis on the educational aspects. It provides an overview of the basics and of recent achievements in the field, from both experimental and theoretical points of view.

Book Search for New Phenomena Associated with High Energy Neutrinos Using the Quadrupole Triplet Beam

Download or read book Search for New Phenomena Associated with High Energy Neutrinos Using the Quadrupole Triplet Beam written by and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors propose to take one million pictures of high energy neutrinos in an approximately 20% mixture of Neon and Helium using the FNAL 15 foot bubble chamber exposed to the quadrupole triplet focused neutrino beam with the EMI. Their experience in E-28A has shown that the capability of recording and analyzing high multiplicity, multiple gamma conversions, secondary neutron interactions, and high energy electrons makes this instrument uniquely useful in searching for new phenomena in neutrino interactions.
