Book Neuroradiology Images vs Symptoms

Download or read book Neuroradiology Images vs Symptoms written by Martina Špero and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-04-27 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this book is to emphasize firstly that rare and serious conditions can be hidden behind common (mis)leading neurological symptoms. Secondly, it stresses the importance of the collaboration with clinician colleagues - a neuroradiologist needs complete and accurate patient information to make a proper diagnosis or a differential diagnosis that can properly guide further diagnostic processing. The book, structured as an atlas, is divided into three sections according to the most common leading symptoms encountered in hospital emergency units or in outpatient settings. Each proposed case is accompanied by a short medical history, CT and MRI images, and a text describing its most important radiological features. 27 cases were chosen from the authors’ everyday practice: rare and peculiar cases, as well as common cases with a twist. Although both authors are experienced neuroradiologists, several of the cases were surprising and it took considerable time to arrive at the correct diagnosis. A certain level of knowledge and experience, together with information from literature, the Internet or from clinicians, helped them solve most of the cases directly, or after consultation with clinicians and further medical examinations and interventions. This book is mainly intended for residents, general radiologists and neuroradiologists. However, it will also be of help to less experienced colleagues or trainees who need to solve particular cases, encouraging them to think outside the box to find the answers.

Book Classic Imaging Signs

  • Author : Bo Gao
  • Publisher : Springer Nature
  • Release : 2020-11-06
  • ISBN : 3030563480
  • Pages : 375 pages

Download or read book Classic Imaging Signs written by Bo Gao and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-11-06 with total page 375 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book systematically summarizes classic imaging signs' characteristics and theory for whole body imaging, serving as a clinical guide for the understanding, prevention, and diagnosis of miscellaneous entities. In recent years, with the rapid evolution of modern imaging modalities, radiology has secured an irreplaceable role in diagnosis within standard clinical practice and being familiar with radiological signs has become essential. The book provides a multimodality review of more than 300 commonly utilized radiologic signs in radiography, CT, MRI, US, angiography, and nuclear medicine, including PET-CT. It is designed to enhance recognition of specific imaging patterns and enable the image interpreter to confidently reach an accurate diagnosis. Divided into ten chapters dedicated to different anatomic areas, each sign includes detailed discussion that explains the history and meaning of the descriptive or metaphoric sign, alongside illustrative photos for memory aid and clarification. Uniquely written from a practical point of view, each case leads you through a radiology expert’s thought process in analyzing the classic signs with considerations of common misinterpretations and imaging pitfalls. The cases then highlight clinical presentation, relevant pathology, anatomy, physiology, and pertinent imaging features of common disease processes. Key information is distilled into succinct, bulleted points with detailed illustrations and images. This book is an ideal reference and review for practicing radiologists, as well as trainees preparing for licensing examinations.

Book A Dictionary of Neurological Signs

Download or read book A Dictionary of Neurological Signs written by A.J. Larner and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-05-08 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Neurology has always been a discipline in which careful physical examination is paramount. The rich vocabulary of neurology replete with eponyms attests to this historically. The decline in the importance of the examination has long been predicted with the advent of more detailed neuroimaging. However, neuroimaging has often provided a surfeit of information from which salient features have to be identified, dependent upon the neurological examination. A dictionary of neurological signs has a secure future. A dictionary should be informative but unless it is unwieldy, it cannot be comprehensive, nor is that claimed here. Andrew Larner has decided sensibly to include key features of the history as well as the examination. There is no doubt that some features of the history can strike one with the force of a physical sign. There are entries for “palinopsia” and “environmental tilt” both of which can only be elicited from the history and yet which have considerable significance. There is also an entry for the “head turning sign” observed during the history taking itself as well as the majority of entries relating to details of the physical examination. This book is directed to students and will be valuable to medical students, trainee neurologists, and professions allied to medicine. Neurologists often speak in shorthand and so entries such as “absence” and “freezing” are sensible and helpful.

Book Pictorial Atlas of Neuroradiological Signs

This book will be most useful to clinicians in neurology and students who are studying neuroradiology. Those with an interest in various branches of neuroscience or radiology might also find this book a useful tool. - Facilitates learning and acts as a guide to those who need to reference various results in neuroimaging and radiology - Contains concise information about each sign – such as underlying conditions associated with the sign, diseases, other things to look out for, etc. - Provides a single reference point for students and practitioners which is not seen in other resources currently available on the market

Book Critical Findings in Neuroradiology

Download or read book Critical Findings in Neuroradiology written by Renato Hoffmann Nunes and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-04-29 with total page 516 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides clear guidance as to which neuroradiological findings in ill or injured patients should be immediately communicated by radiologists and trainees to the emergency room and referring physicians in order to facilitate key decisions and eliminate preventable errors. It offers a practical and illustrative approach that identifies what to look for and how to report it and describes the required follow-up and the most common differential diagnoses of the main critical findings in neuroradiology. The book is distinctive in being written from a “critical findings perspective”, which makes its content more practical and memorable than that of a standard Emergency Neuroradiology textbook. It also illustrates the value of developing algorithmic approaches to report and communicate critical findings based on lists. While the book will appeal to a broad and variable audience, it is especially addressed to radiology training programs and will be a “must read” for residents and fellows in training.

Book A Dictionary of Neurological Signs

Download or read book A Dictionary of Neurological Signs written by A.J. Larner and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-11-12 with total page 379 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first two editions of the Dictionary of Neurological Signs were very well-received by readers and reviewers alike. Like those editions, this Third Edition, updated and expanded, can be almost as well described in terms of what the book is not, along with details about what it is. The Dictionary is not a handbook for treatment of neurological disorders. While many entries provide the latest treatment options, up-to-the-minute therapies are not discussed in bedside level detail. The Dictionary is not a board review book because it is not in Q&A format but could easily serve in that capacity since each entry is a fairly complete snapshot of a specific disorder or disease. The Dictionary is an alphabetical listing of commonly presenting neurological signs designed to guide the physician toward the correct clinical diagnosis. The Dictionary is focused, problem-based, concise and practical. The structured entries in this practical, clinical resource provide a thumbnail of a wide range of neurological signs. Each entry includes: • A definition of the sign • A brief account of the clinical technique required to elicit the sign • A description of the other signs which may accompany the index sign • An explanation of pathyophysiological and/or pharmacological background • Differential diagnosis • Brief treatment details Where known, these entries also include the neuroanatomical basis of the sign. The Dictionary of Neurological Signs, Third Edition, is an indispensable reference for all students, trainees, and clinicians who care for patients with neurological disorders.
