Book Nero The Color of Dolce Gabbana

Download or read book Nero The Color of Dolce Gabbana written by Domenico Dolce and published by Rizzoli Publications. This book was released on 2023-11-07 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Black, the most powerful and overwhelming non-color, is the symbol of Dolce & Gabbana and encapsulates opposite feelings that attract: sensuality and rigor, tragedy and love. In this large-format black-and-white book, the great masters of Italian and international reportage are contrasted with the most important fashion photographers, who have interpreted Dolce & Gabbana Black from behind their lenses since the 1980s. These include Helmut Newton, Inez & Vinoodh, Giuseppe Leone, Enzo Brai, Salvo Alibrio, Sergio Larrain, Bruno Barbey, Ellen von Unwerth, Gian Paolo Barbieri, Fabrizio Ferri, and Juergen Teller. In these photographic masterpieces, which range from advertising campaigns to the most iconic editorials, the stars of cinema, entertainment, and fashion—featuring Monica Bellucci and Isabella Rossellini among others—will alternate with suggestive portraits of ordinary people, some never before seen by the general public and published here for the first time, in a constant dialog that puts Dolce & Gabbana Black at the center.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are the most successful design partnership in fashion history. Since they burst on to the scene in Milan in the eighties, their multi-million-dollar empire has become one of the dominating forces in Italian – and world – fashion. Every year, the opulent and dramatic presentations of their successful 21st-century haute couture line Alta Moda are rapturously received by the fashion press. Their theatrical style is inspired by the Sicily of Visconti's 1963 film The Leopard, by Catholic imagery, and by the Italian screen sirens like Sophia Loren and Monica Bellucci, who wear the designs captured here by Vogue's stable of photographerst. The Dolce and Gabbana woman – characterized, according to Vogue, as having 'a life that reaches beyond, complete with fantasy, turmoil and always a story'– is sensual but proper.

He photographed in India and China, but also at home in New York, in Chicago, and along the Pacific Coast Highway. Davidson also continued to pursue personal projects, e.g. photographing the Yiddish writer and Nobel Prize laureate Isaac Bashevis Singer (1972-75), the New York City subway (1980), and Katz's Delicatessen (2004). A prominent art historian with a profound knowledge of the culture of fashion, Debra N. Mancoff delves far and wide to present pairings both familiar and surprising, including the first couturier Charles Frederick Worth and his wife; Elsa Schiaparelli and the Surrealists; Yves Saint Laurent and the painter Mondrian; Oleg Cassini and Jacqueline Kennedy; and Audrey Hepburn and Hubert de Givenchy. She reveals numerous designers whose muse was their own image, from Coco Chanel to Diane von Furstenberg to the Olsen twins. And she examines the influence of figures from the worlds of art, celebrity, and pop culture. Entertaining, inspiring, and surprising, this enthralling exploration places the muse where he or she belongs: at the highest peaks of the creative process.
