Book National Guide to Erosion and Sediment Control on Roadway Projects

Download or read book National Guide to Erosion and Sediment Control on Roadway Projects written by and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 70 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The National Guide to Erosion and Sediment Control on Roadway Projects identifies the necessary tools and steps to design and implement effective erosion and sediment control plans (ESCPs) for road system planning, construction and maintenance in both urban and rural settings. The guide is intended to assist roadway authorities, consultants, contractors and regulators. This report will guide users in assessing ESCPs in terms of defining risk and level of effort, selecting appropriate methodologies for analysis and design, selecting appropriate mitigation measures in the form of best management practices (BMPs), and meeting legislative and regulatory requirements. Where possible, the Guide highlights regional differences in soil, vegetation and climate conditions and environmental receptors that must be considered when developing an ESCP. The Guide is divided into two parts: Theory and Application. Sections included under Theory are: physical processes, legislation, and risk assessment. Sections included under Application are: ESCP development, site assessment, BMP selection and design, and implementation.

Book Gravel Roads

Download or read book Gravel Roads written by Ken Skorseth and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this manual is to provide clear and helpful information for maintaining gravel roads. Very little technical help is available to small agencies that are responsible for managing these roads. Gravel road maintenance has traditionally been "more of an art than a science" and very few formal standards exist. This manual contains guidelines to help answer the questions that arise concerning gravel road maintenance such as: What is enough surface crown? What is too much? What causes corrugation? The information is as nontechnical as possible without sacrificing clear guidelines and instructions on how to do the job right.

Book Erosion and Sediment Control on Unsealed Roads

Download or read book Erosion and Sediment Control on Unsealed Roads written by and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 59 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The aim of this field guide is to provide field staff with practical guidance on soil erosion and sediment control practices that improve asset management and minimise the amount of sediment entering waterways. Routine maintenance of unsealed roads using best practice standards is generally more cost-effective than allowing roads to detriorate to levels requiring substantial works."--P. 1.

Book Erosion and Sediment Control Best Management Practices

Download or read book Erosion and Sediment Control Best Management Practices written by Darrel M. Stordahl and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Erosion and Sediment Control Best Management Practices Field Manual was developed to assist in design, construction, and post construction phases of Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) projects. This manual provides background to concepts of erosion and sediment control. Most of the MDT best management practices (BMPs) are listed within the manual based on application categories. Each BMP is described; its applications and limitations are listed, as well as its design criteria. Construction phase and post construction phase BMPs are described. This manual is a field guide and condensed version of the Erosion and Sediment Control Design Construction Best Management Practices Manual, which contains more detailed discussion on the topics found within this field manual.
