Book Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering Current Trends and Challenges

Download or read book Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering Current Trends and Challenges written by Dorota G. Pijanowska and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains 13 chapters in which you can find various examples of the development of methods and/or systems supporting medical diagnostics and therapy, related to biomedical imaging, signal and image processing, biomechanics, biomaterials and artificial organs, modeling of biomedical systems, which, as the current research issues, were presented at the 22nd Polish BBE Conference held at the Nalecz Institute of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering, Polish Academy of Sciences, in May 2021. Obviously, it is not easy to recommend an interdisciplinary book as it may seem inconsistent in some respects. This is the case here because it concerns the area of biocybernetics and biomedical engineering (BBE), which is not only an interdisciplinary but even multidisciplinary science. On the other hand, the scattered subject matter of the book is its advantage, as the book may be of interest to an advanced and wide range of readers and researchers representing both medical, biological and technical points of view.

Book Intelligent Information Systems

Download or read book Intelligent Information Systems written by Mieczyslaw Klopotek and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-08-10 with total page 359 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains articles accepted for presentation during The Intelligent Information Systems Symposium I1S'2000 which was held in Bystra, Poland, on June 12-16, 2000. This is ninth, in the order, symposium organized by the Institute of Computer Science of Polish Academy of Sciences and devoted to new trends in (broadly understood) Artificial Intelligence. The idea of organizing such meetings dates back to 1992. Our main in tention guided the first, rather small-audience, workshop in the series was to resume the results gained in Polish scientific centers as well as contrast them with the research performed by Polish scientists working at the uni versities in Europe and USA. This idea proved to be attractive enough that we decided to continue such meetings. As the years went by, the workshops has transformed into regular symposia devoted to such fields like Machine Learning, Knowledge Discovery, Natural Language Processing, Knowledge Based Systems and Reasoning, and Soft Computing (Le. Fuzzy and Rough Sets, Bayesian Networks, Neural Networks and Evolutionary Algorithms). At present, about 50 papers prepared by researches from Poland and other countries are usually presented. Besides, for several years now, the symposia are accompanied by a number of tutorials, given by the outstanding scientists in their domain. Up to this year the proceedings were published as our local publication and they were distributed among the scientific libraries. We feel however, that the subject matter as well as the quality of papers is sufficient to present the proceedings to a broader scientific audience.

Book Machine Learning and Deep Learning in Natural Language Processing

Download or read book Machine Learning and Deep Learning in Natural Language Processing written by Anitha S. Pillai and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2023-10-18 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Natural Language Processing (NLP) is a sub-field of Artificial Intelligence, linguistics, and computer science and is concerned with the generation, recognition, and understanding of human languages, both written and spoken. NLP systems examine the grammatical structure of sentences as well as the specific meanings of words, and then they utilize algorithms to extract meaning and produce results. Machine Learning and Deep Learning in Natural Language Processing aims at providing a review of current Neural Network techniques in the NLP field, in particular about Conversational Agents (chatbots), Text-to-Speech, management of non-literal content – like emotions, but also satirical expressions – and applications in the healthcare field. NLP has the potential to be a disruptive technology in various healthcare fields, but so far little attention has been devoted to that goal. This book aims at providing some examples of NLP techniques that can, for example, restore speech, detect Parkinson’s disease, or help psychotherapists. This book is intended for a wide audience. Beginners will find useful chapters providing a general introduction to NLP techniques, while experienced professionals will appreciate the chapters about advanced management of emotion, empathy, and non-literal content.
