Well, that's exactly what happens to Nikki O'Connor. She's back, newly married and living in a breathtaking oceanfront RV Park where because of her police background, she jumps at a job opening as the new park ranger. Things are good and to top it off, her husband presents her with an antique brooch containing a rare purple pearl that turns out to be worth at least a million bucks. Meanwhile, the misadventures of a pothead kid who gets around in his mom's pink Mary Kay minivan and a sawed-off troll of a guy who speaks only in the cryptic language of fortune cookies provide some light diversion. But the bottom drops out and when terror arrives, Nikki teams up with her best friend, plus a 300-lb. ex-marine and also a street-smart teenage girl with Gothic tastes.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: John Wesley, eighteenth century Church of England priest and founder of Methodism, was strongly influenced by the works of Roman Catholic mystics early in his ministry. These writings shaped his widely known doctrine of Christian perfection or entire sanctification. The mystics inspired Wesley to advocate for a lofty spiritual goal that he believed to be attainable in this life. In time, however, he developed many contentions with extremes as well as some particulars found in the mystical tradition. Beginning in 1749, Wesley began to publish his Christian Library--a fifty-volume compilation of abridged works that he believed to be among the best writings on practical divinity that had been published in English. Among this vast collection, he incorporated two works originally written in Spanish including a sampling of Letters by Juan de Avila and the Spiritual Guide by Miguel de Molinos. This book examines Wesley's editing of these works as a way of evaluating Wesley's theology in comparison and contrast with Spanish mysticism. In particular, this book serves as a comparative study among these authors on matters of theological authority, self-knowledge and epistemology, soteriology, spiritual growth, suffering and divine withdrawal, prayer, meditation, contemplation, and the spiritual goal.

  • Pages : 655 pages

Download or read book The Mystic Ark written by Conrad Rudolph and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2014-06-09 with total page 655 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, Conrad Rudolph studies and reconstructs Hugh of Saint Victor's forty-two-page written work, The Mystic Ark, which describes the medieval painting of the same name. In medieval written sources, works of art are not often referred to, let alone described in any detail. Almost completely ignored by art historians because of the immense difficulty of its text, Hugh of Saint Victor's Mystic Ark (c.1125–30) is among the most unusual sources we have for an understanding of medieval artistic culture. Depicting all time, all space, all matter, all human history and all spiritual striving, this highly polemical painting deals with a series of cultural issues crucial in the education of society's elite during one of the great periods of intellectual change in Western history.

One thing is certain: Gittoes is the greatest Australian hero working today and his epic story must be told. Equal parts artist and warrior, George is world-famous for waging war on war with art, circus, photography and film. "Soldiers die for flags. For me it is art," he says. George has been shot, stabbed, bombed, beaten, tortured, drowned and jailed. He has worked with Andy Warhol, dined with Fidel Castro, plotted with Julian Assange, been feted by Mandela, blessed by Mother Theresa, sneezed on by the Dalai Lama. Blood Mystic begins with George flying back to Jalalabad carrying a letter from the Taliban threatening to chop off his head and show the decapitation on live TV. George's mission is to film with street kids in the most dangerous city on earth - the Ghostbuster street exorcists, the Snow Monkey ice cream boys, the urchin girls and kuchi kids, the child gangsters with razor blades under their lips. As the danger grows, George reflects deeply on a life less ordinary - his boyhood being groomed as a gangster, his escape to New York, the Yellow House art revolutions, crazy brave adventures in outback Australia, ghetto America, jungle Nicaragua, war-torn Cambodia, badlands Baghdad, hollow Bosnia... and beyond. Book Mystic S Bible

Download or read book Mystic S Bible written by Jack H. McKeever and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2010-08-02 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is written to show that the Bible is a metaphysical encyclopedia, a very spiritually enlightening book. Many peoplefrom spiritual leaders, bishops, clergy, and the populaceare grounded in the here and the now, in the physical, without attention to the spiritual side of life and thus negate the value of balance and harmony in their lives. Thus they are giving in to the very thing that throughout the Bible is repeated, and in all the books written within the Bible itself, it is repeated. This book is a beginning of the profound ideas within the Bible itself. The Bible is written to be taken in a metaphoric sense. The Bible is a wonderful, enlightening book if taken as it was intended to be.
