As a natural psychic, she is blessed with the gift of being able to deepen this quest beyond the capacities of most ghost hunters, allowing her to sense, perceive and experience what many cannot. Following on from her acclaimed Ghost Hunting Case Book, Psychic Quest features Osborne-Thomason's many personal experiences of ghosts and her own search for answers. Interlaced with autobiographical glimpses, Osborne-Thomason tells of psychic episodes and ghostly encounters, including her meeting with the ghost of Pengersick Castle and the haunting spirit of Woodford church. She also tells of clairvoyant intuitions in Jerusalem, how she prevented a car crash, her opportunity to read the U.S. President's palm, the delights of overnight vigils in musty locations and much more. In her thoughtful conclusion, the author suggests a solution to the mystery of ghosts, and indicates how ghosts might manifest. She also gives a list of ghostly locations for would-be ghost hunters.

Sedona seems to reflect the best qualities, or perhaps I should say “combined†qualities, the essences and elements, of the Great Pyramids, Glastonbury, Stonehenge, Ayers Rock, Mount Shasta, the South American Pyramids, Peru, Tibet, Nepal, India, Lourdes, and many other power places around the world. How can I make such a claim? For the reason that I interact on a regular basis with individuals from virtually every corner of the Earth who have spent time in those sacred and mysterious places. Through these travelers, I have learned that there is simply no other place like Sedona.

Book My Cosmic Quest

Download or read book My Cosmic Quest written by Paul Gavan and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2016-06-20 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I learned from my spirit guides the Family of Light, that humanity is in this world but not of it. Speaking to me through a spiritual medium, the Family of Light described a veil of illusion that catches even those of us who know, prompting us to forget that there is a connection between ourselves and the divine and that, as human beings, we have the exalted charge to live in an awareness of that connection. With these words, Paul Gavan begins this account of his spiritual journey and of the communicationsthe teachings, observations, advice, and predictionsthat he has received from his spirit guides and the Family of Light. Working through a spiritual medium, Paul asked questions of these spirits who communicated to him from higher dimensional realms. Their answers, recounted in this book, were not just for Paul but for all of humanity, offering us guidance on how to raise our awareness as we enter a new era of collective enlightenment. Nonfiction.

Download or read book The Spiritual Quest written by Robert M. Torrance and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 2023-09-01 with total page 387 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Robert Torrance's wide-ranging, innovative study argues that the spiritual quest is rooted in our biological, psychological, linguistic, and social nature. The quest is not, as most have believed, a rare mystical experience, but a frequent expression of our most basic human impulses. Shaman and scientist, medium and poet, prophet and philosopher, all venture forth in quest of visionary truths to transform and renew the world. Yet Torrance is not trying to reduce the quest to an "archetype" or "monomyth." Instead, he presents the full diversity of the quest in the myths and religious practices of tribal peoples throughout the world, from Oceania to India, Africa, Siberia, and especially the Americas. In theorizing about the quest, Torrance draws on thinkers as diverse as Bergson and Piaget, van Gennep and Turner, Pierce and Popper, Freud, Darwin, and Chomsky. This is a book that will expand our knowledge—and awareness—of a fundamental human activity in all its fascinating complexity.

Book My Year of Living Spiritually

Download or read book My Year of Living Spiritually written by Anne Bokma and published by Douglas & McIntyre. This book was released on 2019-10-26 with total page 203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2017, Anne Bokma embarked on a quest to become a more spiritual person. After leaving the fundamentalist religion of her youth, she became one of the eighty million North Americans who consider themselves spiritual-but-not-religious, the fastest growing “faith” category. In mid-life she found herself addicted to busyness, drinking too much, hooked on social media, dreading the empty nest and still struggling with alienation from her ultra-religious family. In response, she set out on a year-long whirlwind adventure to immerse herself in a variety of sacred practices—each of which proved to be illuminating in unexpected ways—to try to develop her own definition of what it means to be spiritual. In My Year of Living Spiritually, Bokma documents a diverse range of soulful first-person experiences—from taking a dip in Thoreau’s Walden Pond, to trying magic mushrooms for the first time, booking herself into a remote treehouse as an experiment in solitude, singing in a deathbed choir and enrolling in a week-long witch camp—in an entertaining and enlightening way that will compel readers (non-believers and believers alike) to try a few spiritual practices of their own. Along the way, she reconsiders key relationships in her life and begins to experience the greater depth of meaning, connection, gratitude, simplicity and inner peace that we all long for. Readers will find it an inspiring roadmap for their own spiritual journeys.

Book American Awakening

  • Author : Joshua Mitchell
  • Publisher : Encounter Books
  • Release : 2022-12-13
  • ISBN : 1641772832
  • Pages : 169 pages

Download or read book American Awakening written by Joshua Mitchell and published by Encounter Books. This book was released on 2022-12-13 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: America has always been committed to the idea that citizens can work together to build a common world. Today, three afflictions keep us from pursuing that noble ideal. The first and most obvious affliction is identity politics, which seeks to transform America by turning politics into a religious venue of sacrificial offering. For now, the sacrificial scapegoat is the white, heterosexual, man. After he is humiliated and purged, who will be the object of cathartic rage? White women? Black men? Identity politics is the anti-egalitarian spiritual eugenics of our age. It demands that pure and innocent groups ascend, and the stained transgressor groups be purged. The second affliction is that citizens oscillate back and forth, in bipolar fashion, at one moment feeling invincible on their social media platforms and, the next, feeling impotent to face the everyday problems of life without the guidance of experts and global managers. Third, Americans are afflicted by a disease that cannot quite be named, characterized by an addictive hope that they can find cheap shortcuts that bypass the difficult labors of everyday life. Instead of real friendship, we seek social media “friends.” Instead of meals at home, we order “fast food.” Instead of real shopping, we “shop” online. Instead of counting on our families and neighbors to address our problems, we look to the state to take care of us. In its many forms, this disease promises release from our labors, yet impoverishes us all. American Awakening chronicles all of these problems, yet gives us hope for the future.

Book The Reality of ESP

Download or read book The Reality of ESP written by Russell Targ and published by Quest Books. This book was released on 2012-12-19 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On February 4, 1974, members of the Symbionese Liberation Army kidnapped nineteen-year-old newspaper heiress Patricia Hearst from her Berkeley, California apartment. Desperate to find her, the police called physicist Russell Targ and Pat Price, a psychic retired police commissioner. As Price turned the pages of the police mug book filled with hundreds of photos, suddenly he pointed to one of them and announced, “That’s the ringleader.” The man was Donald DeFreeze, who was indeed subsequently so identified. Price also described the type and location of the kidnap car, enabling the police to find it within minutes. That remarkable event is one reason Targ believes in ESP. Another occurred when his group made $120,000 by forecasting for nine weeks in a row the changes in the silver-commodity futures market As a scientist, Targ demands proof. His experience is based on two decades of investigations at the Stanford Research Institute (SRI), which he cofounded with physicist Harold Puthoff in 1972. This twenty-million dollar program launched during the Cold War was supported by the CIA, NASA, the Defense Intelligence Agency, and Army and Air Force Intelligence. The experiments they conducted routinely presented results could have happened by chance less than once in a million. Targ describes four types of experiments: Remote Viewing, in which a person describes places and events independent of space and time. For example, while in California Price drew to scale a Soviet weapons factory at Semipalitinsk with great accuracy later confirmed by Satellite photography. In another remote viewing, Targ accurately sketched an airport in San Andreas, Columbia himself. Distant Mental Influence, where the thoughts of the experimenter can positively or negatively affect the physiology (heart rate, skin resistance, etc.) of a distant person. Whole field isolation, where someone in a state of sensory isolation accurately describes the visual experiences of someone else in another place Precognition and retrocausality, showing that the future can affect the past. That is, the elephant you see on television in the morning can be the cause of your having dreamed about elephants the previous night. Final chapters present evidence for survival after death; explain how ESP works based on the Buddhist/Hindu view of our selves as nonlocal, eternal awareness; discuss the ethics of exercising psychic abilities, and show us how to explore ESP ourselves. “I am convinced,” Targ says, “that most people can learn to move from their ordinary mind to one not obstructed by conventional barriers of space and time. Who would not want to try that?”
