Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A short erotic story in 4400 words. Contains adult content, so by continuing reading you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. Thank you! What do you do when you find yourself alone on Valentine`s Day? You find yourself a blind date. But before you could even get to the agreed meeting point, a whole new adventure starts with a stranger who asks for a ride. How could you possibly leave someone outside in the pouring rain? It`s Valentine`s Day, after all. And besides, what happens in the car stays in the car, right?"Oh, for God`s sake, move it already, would you?!"I realize it a minute too late that I`m shouting in vain. Firstly, because I`m in my car and the windows are all pulled up tightly, so that they can prevent the rain from pouring in, and there is no way that idiot in the fast lane could have heard me. Okay, I know that it`s called the fast lane for a reason, but still he shouldn`t drive like a lunatic. Not when you can`t see sod all. Secondly, it isn`t his fault that I`m late. And maybe most importantly it isn`t his fault that it is Valentine`s Day and that I`m still single. Well, if I don`t count my hook-up with Alan, but that surely doesn`t count, especially considering that tonight I`m on another blind date. This proves as well that so far, they haven`t worked for me. True, I got many one-night stands, but I would prefer something more substantial this time. It wasn`t my fault that Alan forgot to mention that he was married, and it quite conveniently popped into his mind only after he fucked me. Oh, well. Seeing all the boutiques fill with hopeless romantics didn`t help my mood either. Somehow I always dread this day, long before it`s due. It`s all about spending money you don`t have, on stupid things your alleged loved one won`t need. Or maybe they will just throw it in a pile with the rest they get from their other admirers. Because that`s the kind of world we live in today. But you still can`t celebrate Valentine`s Day with a fling, can you? There needs to be passion, a secret longing to see that person. There needs to be a spark, even if it won`t last. Or at least that`s what it should be about. I don`t even know why I still bother, to be totally honest.I let out a sigh, slowing down at the next crossroads as the lights turn red. I think I have always expected too much from this single day. Single? Seriously? But anyway, it`s not like I`m freaking Cinderella and I could bump into my prince charming any minute. I mean, this is real life and not a fairy tale. I have to get a grip, and I need to do it now. V day or not, whoever is waiting for me at the hotel`s restaurant will have to do. He did insist to meet me specially tonight, and although I don`t normally fall for a guy based on his profile on dating sites, but he certainly has a boyish charm. Not to mention his exquisite taste when it comes to surprises. He only texted me the address today, requesting that I wear a silk red dress and red heels. Okay, so he might be a pervert, but I decided to go along with the plan anyway. We won`t be in the middle of nowhere, and the hotel is very expensive. So surely he has manners, right? He is trying to impress, which is a surprise in itself, as most guys just want to get into my panties as quickly as they spot me enter the room. As if seeing them should be enough to make me all hot and bothered. Maybe I should take it as a compliment, because I`m sure that`s how they see it. They would say that I turn them on so much that they just can`t control themselves. Please, give me a break, they say that to every girl they want to fuck. It`s all about tactics. And I know that this mystery guy might be no different, but I`m not about to give up now. This Valentine`s Day is going to be different from the rest. One way or another...

Book Hijabs Hitchhiking and Hangovers Lessons from Iran

Download or read book Hijabs Hitchhiking and Hangovers Lessons from Iran written by Rose Carmichael and published by Austin Macauley Publishers. This book was released on 2024-03-28 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ‘Are you foreign? Why would you come to Iran? Please tell your friends back home that we are nothing like the Western media.’ These were among the phrases that Rose would hear almost daily in Tehran. Hijabs, Hitchhiking and Hangovers: Lessons from Iran is a coming-of-age travel adventure. At the age of 20, Rose was part of the first group of Cambridge students to study in Iran after Iran re-opened its borders to the West. Navigating Foreign Office warnings and nuclear sanctions, she was at first a rather reluctant traveller, overwhelmed by the culture clashes, language barriers and Islamic law. Through a collection of short stories, Rose tells of how she makes a home in Iran, experiences unexpected kindness and gets to grips with the Farsi language. At times amusing and at others, tragically telling of the harsh realities of Iranian society, Hijabs, Hitchhiking and Hangovers is a gripping account of self-reliance and the often dangerous impact of politics on travel abroad.

Ig you find yourself in these pages and don't like what I have remembered about you, I apologize. I was after the truth of my own life and everything else was subject to that.

Book The Tupper Boys

Download or read book The Tupper Boys written by Walter Schoen and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2004 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the 1930's, when Hitler's Nazi party was growing in Germany, it also gained popularity in the Sudetenland, inhabited by a German-speaking population that had been added to Czechoslovakia in 1919. A minority group, the Social Democrats, became active in opposing that party. When Britain's Neville Chamberlain ceded the area to Germany in 1938 as the "Price for Peace," these people were in danger of incarceration or even execution. Of those who escaped, a number were able to immigrate to Canada. Although none of them had any training or experience in agriculture, being office or factory workers in towns or cities of central Europe, they were admitted to Canada providing that they become farmers. A group of about 518 ranging in age from 1 month to 54 years were brought to Tupper, BC, in the Peace River District, under the supervision of the Canadian Colonization Association, a subsidiary of the Canadian Pacific Railway, to develop their own farms out of a virtual wilderness. This book is the story of their first five years there.

Book Beyond the Malachite Hills

Download or read book Beyond the Malachite Hills written by Jonathan Lawley and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2009-10-30 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What hope is there for Africa? Since the heady and hopeful days of decolonisation the story seems to be one of unrelenting disaster - revolution; brutal military dictatorship; ethnic conflict - even genocide; civil war; state-threatening corruption; economic failure; and, in places, the complete breakdown of state and society. And all has been compounded by natural disasters - drought, famine and the scourge of AIDS. But there is another, less reported, story of Africa: throwing off the colonial past, embracing modernity, learning fast, gaining in pride and self-confidence and embracing the crucial management function; all this in the context of fruitful collaboration with Europe and American business and, increasingly, with the rising Asian economic superpowers. Jonathan Lawley's Beyond the Malachite Hills paints a vivid and convincing picture of solid political, social and economic progress. He is in a unique position to tell this story. After a 'colonial' childhood in India under the Raj and in white-dominated Southern Rhodesia, followed by school and university in apartheid South Africa, he rejected racialism and white minority rule. He joined the British Colonial Service and served as a District Officer in Northern Rhodesia in the years running up to decolonisation, and stayed on in Zambia after independence. Jonathan Lawley's business career reflected and contributed to African economic advancement, firmly rooted in a rejection of racialism even in its heartland of big, European-dominated, business. He applied his business ideals in pursuing indigenous technical and business training in copper mining in Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo), followed by assignments in Morocco and Mauritius. A brief interlude and a return to African politics came when he helped to supervise the elections following the Lancaster House Agreement which brought Robert Mugabe to power in Zimbabwe. But his most lasting contribution to Africa came with the mining giant Rio Tinto, and his ground-breaking scheme for training indigenous technical managers. These rose to the highest positions and broke the mould of European managerial and technical dominance. His promotion of African business continued in his role as Africa Director of the British Executive Service Overseas (BESO) and as Director of the Royal African Society and consultant to the West African Business Association (WABA) and the Southern African Business Forum (SABF). Beyond the Malachite Hills is a remarkable testament to his long-lasting and profound involvement with this often misunderstood continent.
