Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My Heart, His Vessel is a collection of poems deriving from the deepest part of my heart. It is my heart, opened wide for the whole world to see. God wooed me with His love and His sacrifice to save us all. And that love touched my heart so deeply, I couldn't resist opening my heart a little bit each time. I first learned of His love, and that allowed Him into a part of my heart I didn't know existed, and then He put the medicine that only He could give to a deeply wounded heart that had festering wounds of the past. I found myself at first wanting to run from the wounds of that little girl in me, like a child who pulls back their hand, not wanting you to touch their sore. But you must first clean the wounds before you put the medicine on it, and that is what God did in me; He cleaned my heart and applied the medicine only God can give. He healed that little girl in me and allowed the woman to run free. You will experience my growth as a poet and my growth in the knowledge of who God is and what He has for us. As I opened my heart to Him, He took a broken vessel and healed the cracks that once defined who I was and created a vessel that has His mending touch of love and sealed it with a bond that can never be broken. Now the cracks are healed, and you will see with each poem a river of living water flowing through me for Him.

Book My Heart in His Hands

Download or read book My Heart in His Hands written by Sharon James and published by EP BOOKS. This book was released on 1998 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In October 1810 a twenty-year-old girl in the quiet New England town of Bradford wrote the following words in her journal: 'If nothing in providence appears to prevent, I must spend my days in a heathen land. I am a creature of God, and he has un undoubted right to do with me, as seems good in his sight...He has my heart in his hands, and when I am called to face danger, to pass through scenes of terror and distress, he can inspire me with fortitude, and enable me to trust in him. Jesus is faithful; his promises are precious. Were it not for these considerations, I should sink down with despair. Ann Hasseltine had received a proposal of marriage from Adoniram Judson, who was shortly to leave for Asia as one of America's first overseas missionaries. And thus commenced one of the great dramas of church history--a saga of love, courage, suffering and perseverance.

Book excerpt: As we search for meaning in our world of shallow online relationships and glamorized selfies, many are returning to traditional and liturgical churches. The repeated words, benedictions, and historic hymns connect us to saints who have gone before, giving us a sense of belonging, richness, and transcendence. Written prayers, once cast off as archaic, are now welcomed as guides to tune our hearts to the heart of God. In My Heart, Ever His Barbara Rainey shares 40 prayers for women. They can meditate on one prayer throughout the week or read a prayer a day for 40 days as a way to express the longing of our hearts to our Father who loves us even as he sees who we truly are. Like the psalms of David, these prayers are honest, sometimes raw. Barbara uses these transparent expressions of common experiences to encourage us to surrender to Christ and help us see God as he is, not as we assume him to be. My Heart, Ever His provides a stepping-stone to help you become more transparent with God and discover his welcoming embrace.

Book Vessels A Love Story

Download or read book Vessels A Love Story written by Daniel Raeburn and published by W. W. Norton & Company. This book was released on 2016-03-14 with total page 95 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An unforgettable portrait of a marriage tested to its limits. When Dan, a writer with a passion for underground comics, and his wife Bekah, a potter dedicated to traditional Japanese ceramics, met through a mutual friend, they swiftly fell in love. “Of all the women I’ve ever met,” Dan told a friend, “she’s the first one who felt like family.” But at Christmas, as they prepared for the birth of their first child, tragedy struck. Based on Daniel Raeburn’s acclaimed New Yorker essay, Vessels: A Love Story is the story of how he and Bekah clashed and clung to each other through a series of unsuccessful pregnancies before finally, joyfully, becoming parents. In prose as handsomely unadorned as his wife’s pottery, Raeburn recounts a marriage cemented by the same events that nearly broke it. Vessels is an unflinching, enormously moving account of intimacy, endurance, and love.

Download or read book Renovation of the Heart written by Dallas Willard and published by Tyndale House. This book was released on 2014-02-27 with total page 381 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As Christians, we know that we are new creations in Jesus. So we try to act differently, hoping this will make us more like Him. But changing our outward behavior doesn’t change our hearts. Only by God’s grace can we be transformed internally. Renovation of the Heart lays a biblical foundation for understanding what best-selling author Dallas Willard calls the “transformation of the spirit”—a divine process that “brings every element in our being, working from inside out, into harmony with the will of God.” This fresh approach to spiritual growth explains the biblical reasons why Christians need to undergo change in six aspects of life: thought, feeling, will, body, social context, and soul. Willard also outlines a general pattern of transformation in each area, not as a sterile formula but as a practical process that you can follow without the guilt or perfectionism so many Christians wrestle with. Don’t settle for complacency. Accept the challenge Renovation of the Heart offers to become an intentional apprentice of Jesus Christ, changing daily as you walk with Him.

Book Naval Leadership in the Atlantic World

Download or read book Naval Leadership in the Atlantic World written by Richard Harding and published by University of Westminster Press. This book was released on 2017-03-30 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The naval leader has taken centre stage in traditional naval histories. However, while the historical narrative has been fairly consistent the development of various navies has been accompanied by assumptions, challenges and competing visions of the social characteristics of naval leaders and of their function. Whilst leadership has been a constant theme in historical studies, it has not been scrutinised as a phenomenon in its own right. This book examines the critical period in Europe between 1700 -1850, when political, economic and cultural shifts were bringing about a new understanding of the individual and of society. Bringing together context with a focus on naval leadership as a phenomenon is at the heart of this book, a unique collaborative venture between British, French and Spanish scholars. As globalisation develops in the twenty-first century the significance of navies looks set to increase. This volume of essays aims to place naval leadership in its historical context.
