Book My Flight Through Cancer

Download or read book My Flight Through Cancer written by Kenny Tipton and published by . This book was released on 2017-07-24 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about more than cancer; it is about letting ego go and sharing life in intimate details. It is about love and passion, about being humbled, making mistakes, finding the right path, relying on others to help in the simplest of tasks, and keeping and finding more faith than you thought possible. The hardest part about cancer or any other debilitating disease is that so many people do not understand what the person is going through during this horrific time. On the outside he or she may look healthy, but people with these diseases are fighting incredible battles on the inside. Be mindful when you come across those who are not well. Show them compassion, show them understanding, and show them any kindness you may have to offer. Leave judgment on the table; regardless of a person's past, no one deserves the pain of loneliness and disease. With the smallest of deeds Can come the largest of trees. A simple word, a simple smile Can help just ONE person finish his mile. Do not ever underestimate a word of encouragement you may give, For you might unknowingly give a gift to live. Ladies and gentlemen, please keep your seat belts fastened, keep your hands inside the ride at all times, your mind engaged, and your eyes on the pages. Hold tight as we are expecting moderate to severe turbulence in the following pages; it is unavoidable. We will have to ride it out until we can find a smoother ride and a soft landing in this flight called life. This is my story, my life, my struggle--my flight through cancer.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "It takes a different kind of thinking to solve a problem than the kind of thinking that produced the problem." -Albert Einstein JJ HAD A DEVASTATING PROBLEM. At age fifty-one, he was diagnosed with stage four cancer and given three years to live. Rather than accept that outcome, JJ did what he always does: he set out to find a solution. Desiring to look beyond traditional treatments and their often harmful side effects, he put his unconventionally wired mind to work. JJ was relentless as he investigated alternative therapies and pursued global trailblazers in cancer research. Moving from the role of patient to patient-researcher, he became a trailblazer in his own right, being sought after for his latest findings. Ultimately, JJ brought together the most innovative international minds at the Rethinking Cancer 2017 conference in Paris. Together, they found common ground, and they continue to create integrative, synergistic approaches to treatment. Today, almost a decade after his diagnosis, JJ has defied the odds and is cancer-free. Recently retired from his career as a commercial airline captain on the Airbus A380, he now devotes himself to sharing his ongoing research with scientists and patients. JJ's story illustrates how looking at things differently often enables us to see them in a whole new light. "Captain Trochon is a true warrior, willing to fight like no other to win his battle against cancer." -Prof. Valter Longo, Director of USC Longevity Institute, Los Angeles

Book excerpt: A definitive and approachable guide to life during, and after, breast cancer The biggest risk factor for breast cancer is simply being a woman. Madhulika Sikka's A Breast Cancer Alphabet offers a new way to live with and plan past the hardest diagnosis that most women will ever receive: a personal, practical, and deeply informative look at the road from diagnosis to treatment and beyond. What Madhulika Sikka didn't foresee when initially diagnosed, and what this book brings to life so vividly, are the unexpected and minute challenges that make navigating the world of breast cancer all the trickier. A Breast Cancer Alphabet is an inspired reaction to what started as a personal predicament. This A-Z guide to living with breast cancer goes where so many fear to tread: sex (S is for Sex - really?), sentimentality (J is for Journey - it's a cliché we need to dispense with), hair (H is for Hair - yes, you can make a federal case of it) and work (Q is for Quitting - there'll be days when you feel like it). She draws an easy-to-follow, and quite memorable, map of her travels from breast cancer neophyte to seasoned veteran. As a prominent news executive, Madhulika had access to the most cutting edge data on the disease's reach and impact. At the same time, she craved the community of frank talk and personal insight that we rely on in life's toughest moments. This wonderfully inventive book navigates the world of science and story, bringing readers into Madhulika's mind and experience in a way that demystifies breast cancer and offers new hope for those living with it.

Book The Flight to Excellence

Download or read book The Flight to Excellence written by William "T." Thompson and published by Greenleaf Book Group. This book was released on 2021-01-12 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Attaining the Unattainable Is Within Our Reach Captain William “T.” Thompson’s accomplishments are many: US Air Force pilot, Delta Airlines captain, lawyer, award-winning businessman, and professional speaker. But Thompson did not start out in life with any special advantages. In fact, being born and raised in segregated South Carolina meant that the difficulties he faced growing up were many. But realizing his aspiration to become a pilot and becoming the first African American from the state to be accepted into the prestigious United States Air Force Academy was just the beginning of a pattern of successes in a life that extended far beyond its origins. Thompson uses his life’s challenges and his personal story to prove that we can all accomplish much more than we previously considered possible—and that we should strive for things that we have even considered unattainable. It doesn’t take special gifts or talents either, the author insists. He credits his P4 System (Principles, People, Flight Plan, and Performance) as the foundation that enabled him to literally pilot his way to success and ultimately become a multimillionaire in the process. With an attractive and distinctive aviation motif, The Flight to Excellence inspires and instructs executives, entrepreneurs, and anyone with a strong desire to reach extraordinary heights on how we can each build a “Culture of Excellence” in our own professional and personal lives by applying his methodical process and concepts and our own discipline and hard work. The proof is in the captain’s own successes.
