Download or read book Quarantined With My Coworkers written by Mike Stoupa and published by Mike Stoupa. This book was released on 2020-12-13 with total page 85 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you ever complained about your coworkers? Ever thought to yourself, "How on earth are these people still employed?!" Well, try being quarantined with them during the COVID-19 pandemic. This collection of 145 misadventures during the pandemic of 2020 is a humorous look at what your coworkers can devolve into during times of crisis. The constant complaining, need to be the center of attention, and countless interrupted video calls are just the tip of the iceberg. From questionable wardrobe selections to potentially unsafe uses of office equipment, you won't stop laughing at the stories behind these two quirky coworkers. It just happens that these coworkers were the author's 2 and 5 year old children...Parents and working professionals will appreciate the relatable antics and brutal honesty these coworkers exhibit. While the pandemic surely did not impact what they displayed in the book (they would have done this stuff anyway), it did bring to light how staying at home with your kids full-time can drive you crazy most days. Trying to manage working from home, teaching a kindergartner, and being a full-time parent 24/7 is nearly impossible and it was these unique twists on office culture that helped the author get through these trying times. Buckle up for file folder full of laughs!

Book excerpt: This book is a product of quarantine. People from all over the US and beyond came together on a Facebook page and united. No politics. No negativity and NO corona. We supported each other, allowed only cooking and food to be on the page, and our page commanded over 34k people since 3/18/2020. This book is a compilation of 116 recipes that were submitted, photos, stories and dedications from the members of this page. The proceeds of our book will benefit a local charity (Stephen Siller Foundation/Tunnel to Towers Covid19 Heroes Fund) that is supporting front line heroes. This book will also serve as a piece of history. It will remind any one who purchases it that during a very dark time in our country's history there was that one group who stuck together and supported one another through cooking and meals for our families. It has been nothing short of amazing to have created this with my daughters and to now turn it into a much asked for book. We have many front line members/family who contributed to our book and the stories will reflect it. The feedback on this project has been amazing. People love it and so do we.
Download or read book Love Poems in Quarantine written by Sarah Ruhl and published by Copper Canyon Press. This book was released on 2022-07-12 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An award-winning, multi-genre writer grapples with the pandemic, death of George Floyd, and other crises of our times in gnomic poems written from inside the purgatory (and sudden revelations) of quarantine. Writing from and toward “the endless desire / to be at home in the world,” Sarah Ruhl wrote Love Poems in Quarantine to mark the passage of time when all familiar landmarks disappeared. From the dawn of the COVID-19 pandemic, to the murder of George Floyd, to months of simultaneous quarantine and protest, this is—in free verse and form, lamentation and meditation—a book of days, a survival kit for spiritual malady. These poems find small solace in domestic absurdities. Even in global crisis, there is the laundry. The dog rolls in something putrid, the child interrupts a Zoom meeting, and dinner must get made, again and again. Using language to travel and touch when bodies could not, Ruhl has drawn with great care a portrait of a year unlike any other in history.

Download or read book The Gift of an Ordinary Day written by Katrina Kenison and published by Grand Central Publishing. This book was released on 2009-09-07 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Gift of an Ordinary Day is an intimate memoir of a family in transition, with boys becoming teenagers, careers ending and new ones opening up, and an attempt to find a deeper sense of place—and a slower pace—in a small New England town. This is a story of mid-life longings and discoveries, of lessons learned in the search for home and a new sense of purpose, and the bittersweet intensity of life with teenagers—holding on, letting go. Poised on the threshold between family life as she's always known it and her older son's departure for college, Kenison is surprised to find that the times she treasures most are the ordinary, unremarkable moments of everyday life, the very moments that she once took for granted, or rushed right through without noticing at all. The relationships, hopes, and dreams that Kenison illuminates will touch women's hearts, and her words will inspire mothers everywhere as they try to make peace with the inevitable changes in store.

Download or read book The Front Steps Project written by Kristen Collins and published by Graphic Arts Books. This book was released on 2020-11-24 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: People magazine's top reason for Hope in America. Curated from a grassroots social movement, The Front Steps Project is an inspiring, uplifting portrait series capturing how people coped with living in isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Front Steps Project™ demonstrates that even in the most challenging of circumstances, kindness, love, courage, and hope exist to build, bind, and connect communities around the globe. Created on March 18, 2020, The Front Steps Project™ began when friends Kristen Collins and Cara Soulia sought out to unite their neighbors through photographs of life in quarantine. In addition to incorporating work from other local photographers, the women traveled to neighborhoods around Needham, Massachusetts to photograph residents in front of their homes in exchange for donations to their local food pantry. Within days, #TheFrontStepsProject became a grassroots social mission, connecting thousands of people across the globe and raising over $3,250,000 for vital non-profit organizations and local businesses including food pantries, frontline workers, homeless and animal shelters, hospitals and so much more. Through their noble efforts, hundreds of thousands of images and stories of love, sacrifice, compassion, kindness, perseverance, and – ultimately hope – flooded social media. Featured on Good Morning America, The Today Show, People Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, The Boston Globe and more, The Front Steps Project brings communities together virtually, despite being – and maybe feeling – isolated. The Front Steps Project contains over 400 photographs and dozens of stories of families during the COVID-19 pandemic. This heartwarming keepsake commemorates a massive effort of courage, unity, and goodwill. As a tribute to the good work of The Front Steps Project, a portion of book sales will be donated to The United Way to help people impacted by the pandemic.

Download or read book You Deserve a Drink written by Mamrie Hart and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2015-05-26 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A New York Times bestselling, riotously funny collection of boozy misadventures from the creator of the YouTube series, “You Deserve a Drink.” Mamrie Hart is a drinking star with a Youtube problem. With over a million subscribers to her cult-hit video series “You Deserve a Drink,” Hart has been entertaining viewers with a combination of tasty libations and raunchy puns since 2011. Hart also co-wrote/co-starred in Dirty Thirty and Camp Takota with Grace Helbig and Hannah Hart. Finally, Hart has compiled her best drinking stories—and worst hangovers—into one hilarious volume. From the spring break where she and her girlfriends avoided tan lines by staying at an all-male gay nudist resort, to the bachelorette party where she accidentally hired a sixty-year-old meth head to teach the group pole dancing (not to mention the time she lit herself on fire during a Flaming Lips concert), Hart accompanies each story with an original cocktail recipe, ensuring that You Deserve a Drink is as educational as it is entertaining. With cameos from familiar friends from the YouTube scene and a foreword by Grace Helbig, this glimpse into Hart’s life brings warmth and humor to the woman fans know and love. And for readers who haven’t met Mamrie yet—take a warm-up shot and break out the cocktail shaker: you’re going to need a drink. “Hart is a pull-no-punches comedian with a talent for self-deprecation in the guise of self-aggrandizement, a winning formula.”—The New York Times
