The empire's constitution and development were often accompanied by the geographical movement of nobles and by the administrative reorganization of territories. However, there is a lack of visualization and interactive tools to present such dramatic changes. Web maps, which provides a simple interface while delivering spatial and temporal information, is widely used for interactive services. This led me, with the help with my colleagues to develop a functional web map to visualize the dynamic changes of Western Han nobles and of administrative boundaries of kingdoms and commanderies. Additionally, apart from the study of groups' changes in Western Han, the movement of individuals associated with the empire is also of interest to this study. Shi Rao, a government official, was frequently travelling in 10 BCE and left us a diary that documented his daily travels, including origin and destinations. However, only the start and end date and time of his journeys are available, while specific travel routes remained unknown. This aroused my curiosity in estimating his potential travel paths. I, therefore, proposed the use of an agent-based model (ABM) for way-finding purposes, with the assumption that the river networks were a primary transportation method. These two objectives were successfully achieved by this study. From the aspect of visualizing the dynamic changes of nobles and kingdom groups, an interactive web map with essential analysis tools was developed. Not only are geographical and spatial features displayed on this map, but users can also explore historical information and temporal changes by operating a "time slider". From the aspect of studying possible routes of individuals, a way-finding model was built with the technology of ABM. The potential itineraries of Shi Rao that emphasize river transport are simulated and visualized in a map. In addition, these are compared to the Euclidean distance of his routes. This highlights that this way-finding ABM is a useful mechanism to measure distances that may have been covered in a trip, assuming that river-travel was the primary transportation method in ancient China"--
