Download or read book A Fisherman s Guide to Selected Lakes of Northwest Montana written by John E. Moore and published by Dog Ear Publishing. This book was released on 2007-12 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most fishing guides offer very limited information on a large number of lakes, most of which their authors have never even been near. This book provides detailed information on the lake and surrounding area, as well as directions and fishing tips. All lakes included in this book have been personally visited, photographed, and in most cases fished by the author. While the emphasis is on the fisherman's perspective, the detailed trail and camping information is equally applicable to those who only wish to hike and camp. The lakes selected for inclusion in this book are from Flathead, Lake, Lincoln, Mineral, Missoula and Sanders counties of northwest Montana. They range from lowland lakes to alpine lakes. Many can be driven to, while others require a hike. The author is a ten-time Washington State record holder, with certified weight records for five different species of fish. Catch data for several hundred lakes, dating back to 1981, has been provided to Washington State fish biologists. Born and raised in northwest Washington and part of a very outdoor oriented family, the author has spent his entire life exploring new places and looking for new waters to fish. So far the search for fishing opportunities has ranged across the states of Washington, Idaho and Montana. Other titles published include "High Lakes of Northwest Washington," "Lakes of North Central Washington," and "Lakes of Northeast Washington and Northern Idaho."
Download or read book Fly Fishing Montana written by John Holt and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2015-04-01 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Anyone who fly-fishes Montana—or plans to—should own a copy of this useful guide. Fly fishing expert John Holt has compiled a complete inventory of Montana’s fly-fishing waters, moving across the state, drainage by drainage, devoting plenty of space to the main river of each watershed as well as the many tributaries, small streams, reservoirs, and alpine lakes that frequently get left out of other guidebooks. The maps are large and easy to use, and the fishing descriptions cover seasonal variations, river conditions, and preferred fly patterns. Also included are travel suggestions, river access, etiquette and rules, and a hatch chart.
