Book Monitoring Western Spruce Budworm with Pheromone baited Sticky Traps to Predict Subsequent Defoliation

Download or read book Monitoring Western Spruce Budworm with Pheromone baited Sticky Traps to Predict Subsequent Defoliation written by Christine Gail Niwa and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A detailed procedure is described for monitoring western spruce budworm with pheromone-baited sticky traps and interpreting the results to predict defoliation the following year. Information provided includes timing of the survey, how to obtain traps and baits, how many traps are needed, trap assembly, field placement of traps, and how to evaluate the catches.

Book Use of the Multi Pher Trap to Monitor Spruce Budworm Populations

Download or read book Use of the Multi Pher Trap to Monitor Spruce Budworm Populations written by Luc Joseph Jobin and published by Sainte-Foy, Québec : Forestry Canada, Quebec Region. This book was released on 1993 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Multi-Pher insect trap was first manufactured and marketed in 1984. In 1985, it was used in the development of a detection and monitoring system for the spruce budworm over a major part of the distribution area of the species in North America. From 1984- 89, 12 experiments to assess and optimize trap effectiveness were conducted in balsam fir stands infested by spruce budworm in the Gaspe Peninsula. Three models of the trap were compared and the number of males captured was considered an adequate measure of trap effectiveness. Testing compared lure brand and holder, insecticide, funnel, baffle, colour and trap placement, cleanliness, and holder.

Carolin and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-09-07 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Sampling Populations of Western Spruce Budworm and Predicting Defoliation on Douglas-Fir in Eastern Oregon A cluster design appeared to be the best solution for sampling these stages. For low, medium, and high populations, number and size of clusters per stand and number of stands were determined for means with an acceptable sampling error of 20 percent, at p z 0. 05, and also other precision and confidence levels. Sampling requirements were particularly great for low egg populations and medium populations of larvae in buds.
