Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A one-of-a-kind reference guide covering the behavioral and statistical explanations for market momentum and the implementation of momentum trading strategies Market Momentum: Theory and Practice is a thorough, how-to reference guide for a full range of financial professionals and students. It examines the behavioral and statistical causes of market momentum while also exploring the practical side of implementing related strategies. The phenomenon of momentum in finance occurs when past high returns are followed by subsequent high returns, and past low returns are followed by subsequent low returns. Market Momentum provides a detailed introduction to the financial topic, while examining existing literature. Recent academic and practitioner research is included, offering a more up-to-date perspective. What type of book is Market Momentum and how does it serve a range of readers’ interests and needs? A holistic market momentum guide for industry professionals, asset managers, risk managers, firm managers, plus hedge fund and commodity trading advisors Advanced text to help graduate students in finance, economics, and mathematics further develop their funds management skills Useful resource for financial practitioners who want to implement momentum trading strategies Reference book providing behavioral and statistical explanations for market momentum Due to claims that the phenomenon of momentum goes against the Efficient Markets Hypothesis, behavioral economists have studied the topic in-depth. However, many books published on the subject are written to provide advice on how to make money. In contrast, Market Momentum offers a comprehensive approach to the topic, which makes it a valuable resource for both investment professionals and higher-level finance students. The contributors address momentum theory and practice, while also offering trading strategies that practitioners can study.

Book excerpt: Designed as a learning tool for those with limited background in quantum mechanics, this book provides comprehensive coverage of angular momentum in quantum mechanics and its applications to chemistry and physics. Based on class-tested material, this presentation offers clear explanations of theory while giving equal attention to solving real problems. Theoretical considerations are made concrete and accessible through extensive examples and applications at the end of each chapter. Problem sets, designed as both individual and group exercises, are treated as an integral part of the text in order to stimulate student interest and clarify the abstract principles discussed. Examples are drawn primarily from atomic and molecular phenomena, and include many intermediate steps (often left out of other texts) to ensure complete mastery of the material, and to lay the groundwork for understanding photon and particle collision phenomena, and more advanced studies.

Book excerpt: Gain momentum towards your dreams in just 31 days. If you want people to wonder how you: Write books Find time for your side hustle Stay fit Create amazing art Generate creative ideas ...then you need a goal. Maybe you've tried other journals that are more work than the goal itself. Perhaps you get bogged down in a flurry of goals. Either way, the result is the same. No progress. No momentum. One more month has passed, and you're no closer to reaching your dream. You soothe yourself by saying that perhaps normal is good enough for now. Maybe it's just not the right time. If you want to give you dream a shot, the Momentum Journal is for you. The Momentum Journal is a deceptively simple journal that focuses you on one goal for 31 days. It takes only minutes per day to complete, and it relies on a proven system to accomplish a goal. The pathway to success, achieving your dreams, and accomplishing your goals, is simple. Work on the most important thing every single day. Starting is the hardest part, but the Momentum Journal gives you that tiny nudge to start the ball rolling. You write down your one goal each day (writing down your goal is scientifically proven to be more effective), and you fill in the chart for previous days of completion. You see the progress you have already achieved, and you feel the momentum. You don't want to break your streak of working on your goal each day, and so you keep the momentum going. After 31 days, you have worked on your most important goal for a whole month, and you are 31 steps closer to your dream. Buy the Momentum Journal and use its deceptively simple goal system to start the momentum towards your dream.

Book A New Model of Capital Asset Prices

Download or read book A New Model of Capital Asset Prices written by James W. Kolari and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-03-01 with total page 326 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book proposes a new capital asset pricing model dubbed the ZCAPM that outperforms other popular models in empirical tests using US stock returns. The ZCAPM is derived from Fischer Black’s well-known zero-beta CAPM, itself a more general form of the famous capital asset pricing model (CAPM) by 1990 Nobel Laureate William Sharpe and others. It is widely accepted that the CAPM has failed in its theoretical relation between market beta risk and average stock returns, as numerous studies have shown that it does not work in the real world with empirical stock return data. The upshot of the CAPM’s failure is that many new factors have been proposed by researchers. However, the number of factors proposed by authors has steadily increased into the hundreds over the past three decades. This new ZCAPM is a path-breaking asset pricing model that is shown to outperform popular models currently in practice in finance across different test assets and time periods. Since asset pricing is central to the field of finance, it can be broadly employed across many areas, including investment analysis, cost of equity analyses, valuation, corporate decision making, pension portfolio management, etc. The ZCAPM represents a revolution in finance that proves the CAPM as conceived by Sharpe and others is alive and well in a new form, and will certainly be of interest to academics, researchers, students, and professionals of finance, investing, and economics.

Book Behavior Analysis and Learning

Download or read book Behavior Analysis and Learning written by W. David Pierce and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2013-04-15 with total page 435 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Behavior Analysis and Learning, Fourth Edition is an essential textbook covering the basic principles in the field of behavior analysis and learned behaviors, as pioneered by B. F. Skinner. The textbook provides an advanced introduction to operant conditioning from a very consistent Skinnerian perspective. It covers a range of principles from basic respondent conditioning through applied behavior analysis into cultural design. Elaborating on Darwinian components and biological connections with behavior, the book treats the topic from a consistent worldview of selectionism. The functional relations between the organism and the environment are described, and their application in accounting for old behavior and generating new behavior is illustrated. Expanding on concepts of past editions, the fourth edition provides updated coverage of recent literature and the latest findings. There is increased inclusion of biological and neuroscience material, as well as more data correlating behavior with neurological and genetic factors. The material presented in this book provides the reader with the best available foundation in behavior science and is a valuable resource for advanced undergraduate and graduate students in psychology or other behavior-based disciplines. In addition, a website of supplemental resources for instructors and students makes this new edition even more accessible and student-friendly.
