Book Moving Forward Looking Back

Download or read book Moving Forward Looking Back written by Malte Hagener and published by Amsterdam University Press. This book was released on 2007 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book, the first full critical overview of the film avant-garde, ushers in a new approach—and in the process creates its own subject. While many books have studied particular aspects of the European film avant-garde of the 1920s and 1930s, Moving Forward, Looking Back provides a much-needed summary of the theory and practice of the movement, while also emphasizing aspects of the period that have been overlooked. Arguing that a European perspective is the only way to understand the transnational movement, the book also pioneers a new approach to the alternative cinema network that sustained the avant-garde, paying particular attention to the emergence of film culture as visible in screening clubs, film festivals, and archives. It will be essential to anyone interested in the influential movement and the film culture it created.

"Validation of Prior Learning In Training Occupations in Europe (Jens Bj rnvold) advocated that informal learning be more recognized. "Validation of Prior Learning in Training Occupations: (Anne-Marie Charraud) discussed the need for standards. "Validation of Prior Learning in Training Occupations in France" (Franoise Grard) described validation of prior learning. "Designing and Implementing the National Accreditation System of Trainers' Training in Greece (Stamatina Diamanti) identified vocational teacher education standards. "Validation of Competencies and the Professionalization of Trainers in Austria" (Alfred Freundlinger) considered three types of competency regulations. "Accreditation of Vocational Teachers' Competencies in Norway" (Ellen Bjerknes) emphasized that teacher accreditation required a holistic approach. "Vocational Training Markets and Validation of Trainer Qualifications in Portugal" (Horacio Covita) provided a model of cross-disciplinary training skills linked to a credit system. Book Self Regulated Learning in Technology Enhanced Learning Environments

Download or read book Self Regulated Learning in Technology Enhanced Learning Environments written by Roberto Carneiro and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-01-01 with total page 165 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Self-regulated learning (SRL) subsumes key aspects of the learning process, such as cognitive strategies, metacognition and motivation, in one coherent construct. Central to this construct are the autonomy and responsibility of students to take charge of their own learning. Skills for self-regulation can be encouraged both directly and indirectly through a range of learning activities. In this book we look specifically at the ways in which technology enhanced learning environments (TELEs) have been used to support self-regulation. The book provides an overview of recent studies on SRL in TELEs in Europe – a perspective which is new and has not been articulated hitherto. It addresses conceptual and methodological questions as well as practices in technology enhanced learning. While the focus is on European studies, we are aware that much of the groundwork in the field of SRL has emanated from the United States. The book is divided into three parts: (A) Foundations of SRL in TELEs, (B) Empirical studies on SRL in TELEs and (C) SRL in TELEs: perspectives on future developments. The book presents a rich resource of information for researchers and educators at all levels who are interested in supporting the acquisition of SRL through TELEs.

Book Signal Processing for Communications

Download or read book Signal Processing for Communications written by Paolo Prandoni and published by Collection Savoir suisse. This book was released on 2008-06-17 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With a novel, less classical approach to the subject, the authors have written a book with the conviction that signal processing should be taught to be fun. The treatment is therefore less focused on the mathematics and more on the conceptual aspects, the idea being to allow the readers to think about the subject at a higher conceptual level, thus building the foundations for more advanced topics. The book remains an engineering text, with the goal of helping students solve real-world problems. In this vein, the last chapter pulls together the individual topics as discussed throughout the book into an in-depth look at the development of an end-to-end communication system, namely, a modem for communicating digital information over an analog channel.

Download or read book Places of Inquiry written by Burton R. Clark and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 2023-12-22 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A distinguished work by one of America's leading scholars of higher education, Places of Inquiry explores one of the major issues in university education today: the relationship among research, teaching, and study. Based on cross-national research on the university systems of Germany, Britain, France, the United States, and Japan—which was first reported in the edited volume The Research Foundations of Graduate Education (California, 1993)—this book offers in-depth comparative analysis and draws provocative conclusions about the future of the research-teaching-study nexus. With characteristic clarity and vision, Burton R. Clark identifies the main features and limitations of each national system: governmental and industrial dominance in Japan, for example, and England's collegiate form of university. He examines the forces drawing research, teaching, and study apart and those binding them together. Highlighting the fruitful integration of teaching and research in the American graduate school, Clark decries the widely held view that these are antithetical activities. Rather, he demonstrates that research provides a rich basis for instruction and learning. Universities, he maintains, are places of inquiry, and the future lies with institutions firmly grounded in this belief.

Book Chemical Energy Storage

Download or read book Chemical Energy Storage written by Robert Schlögl and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2022-01-19 with total page 685 pages. Chemical energy storage is one of the possibilities besides mechano-thermal and biological systems. This work starts with the more general aspects of chemical energy storage in the context of the geosphere and evolves to dealing with aspects of electrochemistry, catalysis, synthesis of catalysts, functional analysis of catalytic processes and with the interface between electrochemistry and heterogeneous catalysis. Top-notch experts provide a sound, practical, hands-on insight into the present status of energy conversion aimed primarily at the young emerging research front.

Book excerpt: This volume represents the outcome of the meeting of the Computer Working Group of the International Association of Egyptologists (Informatique & Égyptologie) held in Liège in 2010 (6-8 July) under the auspices of the Ramses Project. The papers are based on presentations given during this meeting and have been selected in order to cover three main thematic areas of research at the intersection of Egyptology and Information Technology: (1) the construction, management and use of Ancient Egyptian annotated corpora; (2) the problems linked to hieroglyphic encoding; (3) the development of databases in the fields of art history, philology and prosopography. The contributions offer an up-to-date state of the art, discuss the most promising avenues for future research, developments and implementation, and suggest solutions to longstanding issues in the field. Two general trends characterize the projects laid out here: the desire for online accessibility made available to the widest possible audience; and the search for standardization and interoperability.
