The number and the quality of submissions indicate that we are well on the way to establishing WWIC as a major event in the ?eld of wired/wireless internet communications. We received around 60 competitive submissions from Europe, North America, the Middle East and the Far East. Each submission was reviewed by at least two experts, although the majority received three or more reviews. Based on this rigorous reviewing procedure, the International Program Committee selected 26 submissions for presen- tion and publication in the proceedings. Therefore, we should all expect the quality of a selective conference in this volume. We hope you will enjoy it. The papers selected for presentation at WWIC 2004 were stimulating and of utmost interest. They were organized into eight sessions: 1. The workshop was divided into two main themes, entitled "Stability and Load Balancing of a Network of Call Centres" and "Traffic and Performance". The call centre industry is large and fast-growing. In order to provide top-notch customer service, it needs good mathematical models. The first part of the volume focuses on probabilistic issues involved in optimizing the performance of a call centre. While this was the motivating application, many of the papers are also applicable to more general distributed queueing networks. The second part of the volume discusses the characterization of traffic streams and how to estimate their impact on the performance of a queueing system. The performance of queues under worst-case traffic flows or flows with long bursts is treated. These studies are motivated by questions about buffer dimensioning and call admission control in ATM or IP networks. This volume will serve researchers as a comprehensive, state-of-the-art reference source on developments in this rapidly expanding field.

Due to this fact notable research contributions to Integer Programming have been made in very different branches of mathematics and its applications. Since these publications are scattered over many journals, proceedings volumes, monographs, and working papers, a comprehensive bibliography of all these sources is a helpful tool even for specialists in this field. I initiated this compilation of literature in 1970 at the Institut fur ~konometrie und Operations Research, University of Bonn. Since then many collaborators have contributed to and worked on it. Among them Dipl.-Math. Claus Kastning has done the bulk of the work. With great perseverance and diligence he has gathered all the material and checked it with the original sources. The main aim was to incorporate rare and not easily accessible sources like Russian journals, preprints or unpublished papers. Without the invaluable and dedicated engagement of Claus Kastning the bibliography would never have reached this final version. For this reason he must be considered its responsible editor. As with any other collection this literature list has a subjective viewpoint and may be in some sense incomplete. We have however tried to be as complete as possible. The bibliography contains 4704 different publications by 6767 authors which were classified by 11839 descriptor entries.
