Download or read book MODELISATION MARKOVIENNE DE L ECRITURE MANUSCRITE APPLICATION A LA RECONNAISSANCE DES ADRESSES POSTALES written by ABDENAIM.. EL YACOUBI and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NOUS DECRIVONS DANS CE DOCUMENT UNE NOUVELLE METHODE DE MODELISATION DE L'ECRITURE POUR LA RECONNAISSANCE DE MOTS OU DE LOCUTIONS MANUSCRITES.

Download or read book Reconnaissance d criture manuscrite par des techniques markoviennes written by Sylvain Chevalier and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 135 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

This book was released on 1997 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

This book was released on 2008 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Handwriting recognition is one of the leading applications of pattern recognition and machine learning. Handwriting recognition systems have been used as an imput method of many electronic devices and helps in the automation of many manual tasks. To further open the avenues of expanding its applications, specific improvements need to be made in the recognition capability of the system. Hidden Markov Model (HMM) has been the dominant methods of the recognition in handwriting recognition in offline and online systems. However, the use of Gaussian observation densities in HMM and representational model for word modeling often does not lead to good classification. Hybrid of Neural Network (NN) and HMM later improves word recognition by taking advantage of NN discriminative property and HMM representational capability. However, the use of NN does not optimize recognition capability as the use Empirical Risk minimization (ERM) principle in its training leads to poor generalization. In this thesis, we focus on improving the recognition capability of a cursive online handwritten word recognition system by using an emerging method in machine learning, the support vector machine (SVM). We first evaluated SVM in isolated character recognition environment using IRONOFF and UNIPEN character databases. SVM, by its use of principle of structural risk minimization (SRM) have allowed simultaneous optimization of representational and discriminative capability of the character recognizer. We finally demonstrate the various practical issues in using SVM within a hybrid setting with HMM. In addition, we tested the hydrid system of the IRONOFF word database and obtained satisfactory results.

This book was released on 2009 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This PhD thesis is meant to be applied to multi-script handwritten word recognition. The proposed system is script independent. It proceeds without explicit segmentation of handwritting into graphemes and makes use of low level feature sets irrespective of the scripts. Features are then combined according to the multi-stream paradigm. Other track has been explored in this PhD thesis exploiting the Dempster-Shafer theory to propose a new combination rules in the multi-stream HMM. The developed system has been tested on two publicy available databases : the benchmark database IFN/ENIT (for arabic script) , IRONOFF and RIMES databases (for latin script). For both scripts, the result shows significant improvement while using a multi-stream approach.

Book Invariants for Pattern Recognition and Classification

Download or read book Invariants for Pattern Recognition and Classification written by Marcos A. Rodrigues and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2000 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book was conceived from the realization that there was a need to update recent work on invariants in a single volume providing a useful set of references and pointers to related work. Since the publication in 1992 of J L Mundy and A Zisserman's Geometric Invariance in Computer Vision, the subject has been evolving rapidly. New approaches to invariants have been proposed and novel ways of defining and applying invariants to practical problem solving are testimony to the fundamental importance of the study of invariants to machine vision. This book represents a snapshot of current research around the world. A version of this collection of papers has appeared in the International Journal of Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence (December 1999). The papers in this book are extended versions of the original material published in the journal. They are organized into two categories: foundations and applications. Foundation papers present new ways of defining or analyzing invariants, andapplication papers present novel ways in which known invariant theory is extended and effectively applied to real-world problems in interesting and difficult contexts. Each category contains roughly half of the papers, but there is considerable overlap. All papers carry an element of novelty and generalization that will be useful to theoreticians and practitioners alike. It is hoped that this volume will be not only useful but also inspirational to researchers in image processing, pattern recognition and computer vision at large.
