Download or read book Corrosion written by Stephen D. Cramer and published by ASM International(OH). This book was released on 2003 with total page 1190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Annotation Every article from the 1987 edition has been reviewed, revised, expanded or updated! The purpose of ASM Handbook, Volume 13A: Corrosion: Fundamentals, Testing, and Protection is to help engineers and designers understand corrosion so that they can solve existing corrosion problems and prevent future ones. It should be the first book you select when researching a corrosion problem. The overage of the volume had been completely revised to ensure that it is the most comprehensive, practical, and up-to-date resource available. Each article is indexed to other appropriate sections of the Handbook, and each provides a road map to the thousand of individual bibliographical references that were used to compile the information. The editors have assembled over 120 leading authorities in the field of corrosion to review, revise, and contribute new articles to this volume. This volume replaces the landmark 1987 Metals Handbook volume on corrosion. In developing this new edition, the coverage of many of the topics has been greatly expanded. The volume has six major sections: Fundamentals of Corrosion, Forms of Corrosion, Corrosion Testing and Evaluation, Methods of Corrosion Protection, Designing for Corrosion Control and Prevention, and Tools for the Corrosionist.

Book excerpt: Comprehensive information for the American aluminium industry Collective effort of 53 recognized experts on aluminium and aluminium alloys Joint venture by world renowned authorities-the Aluminium Association Inc. and American Society for Metals. The completely updated source of information on aluminium industry as a whole rather than its individual contributors. this book is an opportunity to gain from The knowledge of the experts working for prestigious companies such as Alcoa, Reynolds Metals Co., Alcan International Ltd., Kaiser Aluminium & Chemical Corp., Martin Marietta Laboratories and Anaconda Aluminium Co. It took four years of diligent work to complete this comprehensive successor to the classic volume, Aluminium, published by ASM in 1967. Contents: Properties of Pure Aluminum Constitution of Alloys Microstructure of Alloys Work Hardening Recovery, Recrystalization and Growth Metallurgy of Heat Treatment and General Principles of Precipitation Hardening Effects of Alloying Elements and Impurities on Properties Corrosion Behaviour Properties of Commercial Casting Alloys Properties of Commercial Wrought Alloys Aluminum Powder and Powder Metallurgy Products.
Download or read book Aluminium Alloy Corrosion of Aircraft Structures written by J. A. DeRose and published by WIT Press. This book was released on 2013 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bringing together the latest research, this book applies new modeling techniques to corrosion issues in aircraft structures. It describes complex numerical models and simulations from the microscale to the macroscale for corrosion of the aluminum (Al) alloys that are typically used for aircraft construction, such as AA2024. The approach is also applicable to a range of other types of structures, such as automobiles and other forms of ground vehicles. The main motivation for developing the corrosion models and simulations was to make significant technical advances in the fields of aircraft design (using current and new materials), surface protection systems (against corrosion and degradation) and maintenance. The corrosion models address pitting and intergranular corrosion (microscale) of Al alloys, crevice corrosion in occluded areas, such as joints (mesoscale), galvanic corrosion of aircraft structural elements (macroscale), as well as, the effect of surface protection methods (anodization, corrosion inhibitor release, clad layer, etc.). The book describes the electrochemical basis for the models, their numerical implementation, and experimental validation and how the corrosion rate of the Al alloys at the various scales is influenced by its material properties and the surface protection methods. It will be of interest to scientists and engineers interested in corrosion modeling, aircraft corrosion, corrosion of other types of vehicle structures such as automobiles and ground vehicles, electrochemistry of corrosion, galvanic corrosion, crevice corrosion, and intergranular corrosion.--
