The domestic mining industry is underdeveloped, leading to Nigeria having to import minerals that it could produce domestically, such as salt or iron ore. The book will be sufficiently relevant to the following category of people who are closely related to the subject matter viz: - -Federal Government of Nigeria through the Federal Ministry of Solid minerals and the Federal Ministry of science and technology. -Plateau State government through its State ministry of mines and energy. -All students of tertiary education in the department of Mining engineering, geology, and mining and History department. -Independent Practicing Mining company directors and managers engage in the business of Tin, Columbite, Tantalite, and other related mineral ores. -Professional historians, private and public Archiving institutions in Nigeria, Africa, and the World. -Prospective local entrepreneurs, investors, retail traders wishing to engage in the business of tin, columbite, tantalite, and other related solid minerals. -Prospective foreign direct investors to the solid minerals sub-sector in Nigeria. -Practicing and prospective 36 mining license holders, Tin shed Operators, and artisan miners. -Interested local mechanical engineers, designers, and fabricators in the area of mining equipment and machines hardware and spare parts re-design, fabrication, and production. -To all members of Nigeria mining association

This book was released on 2019-04-10 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main aim of the book is to sensitive relevant authorities ( that is the Federal and State governments and the organized private sector on the other hand) to see the need to revive the production of tin, columbite, tantalite and other related solid minerals in Plateau State, Nigeria, Africa and the world at large. This is a sector that once produced massive quantity of tin and columbite which aid the Great Bratain's industrial sector with raw materials and it equally provides mass and easy employment to millions of Nigerian youths in the past. Resuscitating for investment means that if the weak industry is revived, it will attract large numbers of investors from within the country and from without. when this important sector of the mining industry is revived it will serve as a good source of internally generated revenue which the government of Nigeria is in dire need, due to shortfall in income to effectively service the economy. The book will be sufficiently relevant to the following category of people who are closely related to the subject matter viz: -1.Federal Government of Nigeria through the Federal ministry of Solid minerals and the Federal ministry of science and technology.2.Plateau State government through its State ministry of mines and energy.3.All students of tertiary education in the department of Mining engineering, geology and mining and History department.4.Independent Practicing Mining company directors and managers engage in the business of Tin, Columbite, Tantalite and other related mineral ores.5.Professional historians, private and public Archiving institutions in Nigeria, Africa and the World.6. Book Minerals Critical Minerals and the U S Economy

Download or read book Minerals Critical Minerals and the U S Economy written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2008-03-11 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Minerals are part of virtually every product we use. Common examples include copper used in electrical wiring and titanium used to make airplane frames and paint pigments. The Information Age has ushered in a number of new mineral uses in a number of products including cell phones (e.g., tantalum) and liquid crystal displays (e.g., indium). For some minerals, such as the platinum group metals used to make cataytic converters in cars, there is no substitute. If the supply of any given mineral were to become restricted, consumers and sectors of the U.S. economy could be significantly affected. Risks to minerals supplies can include a sudden increase in demand or the possibility that natural ores can be exhausted or become too difficult to extract. Minerals are more vulnerable to supply restrictions if they come from a limited number of mines, mining companies, or nations. Baseline information on minerals is currently collected at the federal level, but no established methodology has existed to identify potentially critical minerals. This book develops such a methodology and suggests an enhanced federal initiative to collect and analyze the additional data needed to support this type of tool.
