This book was released on 2019-01-13 with total page 582 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Are you confused about what is militarily happening in the world today? Would you like to know what are the correct military and diplomatic actions and what are the wrong actions? If your answer is "Yes" then you have found the correct book to solve your needs. If you read and understand this book you will understand more about Military Grand Strategy than 98% of the world's Generals who ever lived and 98% of today's Generals and Admirals who did NOT read this book. This is the first book in the history of military literature that covers the complete world history of military thought from Sun Tzu in the 5th Century BC to Osama bin Laden in the 21st Century. No previous book about military Strategy has ever discussed the 37 different kinds of Warfare or classified the world's different Ages of Warfare both past and future. This is the world's first military Grand Strategy book that qualifies as a classroom teaching textbook both in military schools and all schools everywhere in the world. If all of the USA's Military Officers read and understood this book and applied its 1200 principle Rules and Guidelines then the USA's 70 year dismal record of de facto losing significant shooting wars would in the future be consistent USA Grand Strategy victories.Who was this book written for? The answer is everyone. It was written for every concerned citizen everywhere in the world. For housewives, teachers, government workers, police, lawyers, doctors, business owners, especially the clergy and everyone who wants to make the world safer and more sane but is not sure of how to make the world better. This is a "How To" book for longer time periods of peace and for wars that are shorter, quicker and less destructive. Most of all this book was written for America's courageous and excellent frontline soldiers, sailors and airmen who deserve better Generals and Admirals and Washington DC Leaders than US frontline troops have had since the end of WW2.This book was written for the world's people everywhere who have for Centuries deserved smarter Leaders. Leaders who know how to have fewer and shorter wars and longer periods of peace. This book will NOT teach you how to successfully manage an Army Division on the battlefield or a Fleet of Warships in combat. That is a different book. America's Generals and Admirals already have that specialized knowledge and are the proven best in the world at winning battles. There is no need write a book about what the USA's Generals and Admirals already know. However this book WILL give you what Washington DC does NOT understand and know. It will give you insight into the correct Grand Strategies for making wars shorter in time and for winning longer periods of peace. This book will make you a more effective citizen and voter (a better political Leader) and a more effective salesman for world peace. Many of Military Strategy's Rules also apply to running a business and running an effective successful life. The 37 different kinds of Warfare are NOT an alien part of the world and life. Warfare is life by other means. This book is in many ways an anti-shooting-war book. Good Grand Strategy is NOT about starting shooting wars it is about preventing shooting wars. The objective of this book is to conquer wars the way disease was conquered by studying more intently the problem. The more you know about warfare and military Grand Strategy the more skilled and effective you become for helping to create world peace.

Book The Principles of War in the 21st Century

Download or read book The Principles of War in the 21st Century written by William T. Johnsen and published by . This book was released on 1995-08-01 with total page 46 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Throughout history, military practitioners, philosophers, and historians have struggled to comprehend the complexities of warfare.1 Most of these efforts produced long, complicated treatises that did not lend themselves to rapid or easy understanding.2 This, in turn, spurred efforts to condense the "lessons" of war into a short list of aphorisms that practitioners of the military art could use to guide the conduct of warfare.3 The culmination of these labors, from the perspective of the U.S. Armed Forces, may be found in what are called the principles of war.4 (See Appendix A.) Currently contained in Joint and Service doctrines, "the principles of war guide warfighting at the strategic, operational, and tactical levels. They are the enduring bedrock of US military doctrine."5 But, how solid is that foundation? While the principles have been thoroughly scrutinized at the tactical and operational levels of warfare, the study of their applicability at the strategic level has been less exhaustive.6 Moreover, the principles of war were derived predominantly from the study of Napoleonic and Industrial Age warfare.7 Whether or how these principles apply at the strategic level of war under the conditions of rapid technological change that many are calling the "Information Age" and its military offspring, the Revolution in Military Affairs (RMA), is an open-ended question.8 Because war at the strategic level is an intellectual process9 and the development and implementation of strategy is a creative activity, some form of intellectual framework is required to shape the strategist's thought processes. The principles of war provide such a structure. At the same time, because theory and creativity have limits, they offer a guide to understanding those restrictions. A good strategist-possessed of a comprehensive understanding of the principles-will be able, therefore, to expand creatively upon them, and will also be able to determine if one or more of them can or must be disregarded.10 Finally, a thorough grasp of the intent behind each principle 2 allows the crafting of strategies that reflect the best possible balance among the principles for a particular strategic challenge.11 Once thoroughly understood, the principles of war also may be used as a decisionmaking aid during formulation, planning, and execution of strategy. They can be used to assess current strategic plans, or as an analytic tool to shape new strategies and plans as they are developed. Further, they can be used to examine past strategic activities to derive insights from success or failure, and to extract the pertinent "lessons" that can be applied to future endeavors. It is, of course, always easier to use the principles in retrospect to critique plans and activities than to incorporate them when creating strategies--but those who can do the latter will be hailed as geniuses by future historians. In fact, the principles of war are important exactly because, short of war, it is difficult to identify potential "Napoleons" in our midst. A proper focus on the linkages and tensions among the principles can avoid the stultifying, dogmatic, pro forma use of "checklists" which inevitably creates vulnerabilities to be exploited by a more imaginative opponent. At the same time, innovative application of the principles in simulations and war games can provide a useful education for future generals and strategists, who may be called upon to practice their craft with little or no notice. They are aids, too, in the life-long development of patterns of thought found in the true strategist.

Book The 33 Strategies of War

Download or read book The 33 Strategies of War written by Robert Greene and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 471 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As in his bestselling The 48 Laws of Power, Greene puts a modern spin on wisdom that has stood the test of history, only this time his role model is Sun Tzu rather than Machiavelli. The argument is fairly standard: despite our most noble intentions, "aggressive impulses that are impossible to ignore or repress" make military combat a fitting metaphor for getting ahead in life. Greene's advice covers everything from steeling one's mind for battle to specific defensive and offensive tactics -- notably, the final section on "dirty" warfare is one of the book's longest. Historical lessons are outlined and interpreted, with amplifying quotations crammed into the margins. Not all of the examples are drawn from the battlefield; in one section, Greene skips nimbly from Lyndon Johnson's tenacity to Julius Caesar's decisiveness, from Joan Crawford's refusal to compromise to Ted Williams's competitive drive. Alfred Hitchcock, he says, embodies "the detached-Buddha tactic" of appearing uninvolved while remaining in total control. The diversity of subject matter compensates for occasional lapses into stilted warriorese ("arm yourself with prudence, and never completely lay down your arms, not even for friends"). -- from http://www.amazon.com (June 22, 2011).
