Book Active Array Antennas for High Resolution Microwave Imaging Radar

Download or read book Active Array Antennas for High Resolution Microwave Imaging Radar written by Jiaguo Lu and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-05-04 with total page 455 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book highlights the application of active array antennas in high-resolution microwave imaging radar systems. It introduces the basic principles, analytical methods, and performance parameters of active array antennas to achieve low profile, high efficiency, and lightweight. The book systematically elaborates the architecture, analysis, and engineering practice to achieve wideband, multi-band, multi-polarization, and common aperture in active array antennas. It explores hotspot technologies of digital array antennas, microwave photonic array antennas, and active packaging antennas. By presenting over 300 illustrations and diagrams, including schematic diagrams, block diagrams, relation diagrams, and breakdown drawings, the book enables a thorough understanding of the antenna array microsystem as the advanced phase of active array antennas and the direction of future R&D. The book is a good reference source for researchers and engineers interested in the engineering and implementation of microwave imaging radar systems and antenna technology.

Book Antenna Arrays

Download or read book Antenna Arrays written by Randy L. Haupt and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2010-09-09 with total page 534 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive tutorial on the design and practical applications of antenna arrays An antenna array is an assembly of antenna elements that maximizes a received or transmitted signal in a desired direction. This practical book covers a wide range of antenna array topics that are becoming increasingly important in wireless applications, with emphasis on array design, applications, and computer modeling. Each chapter in Antenna Arrays builds upon the previous chapter, progressively addressing more difficult material. Beginning with basic electromagnetics/antennas/antenna systems information, the book then deals with the analysis and synthesis of arrays of point sources and their associated array factors. It presents a sampling of different antenna elements that replace these point sources, then presents element configurations that do not have to lie along a line or in a plane. The complex and difficult-to-predict interactions of elements and electromagnetic waves are introduced, along with computer modeling and experiments that are necessary for predicting the performance of arrays where mutual coupling is important. Then, various approaches to getting signals to and from the array elements to a computer where the signal detection takes place are explored, as are the numerical techniques behind smart antennas. The book emphasizes the computational methods used in the design and analysis of array antennas. Also featured are signal processing and numerical modeling algorithms, as well as pictures of antenna arrays and components provided by industry and government sources, with explanations of how they operate. Fully course-tested, Antenna Arrays serves as a complete text in phased array design and theory for advanced undergraduate- and graduate-level courses in electronics and communications, as well as a reference for practicing engineers and scientists in wireless communications, radar, and remote sensing.

Book A Limited scan Antenna Comprised of a Microwave Lens and Phased array Feed

Download or read book A Limited scan Antenna Comprised of a Microwave Lens and Phased array Feed written by Robert V. McGahan and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Limited-scan antennas are finding increasing use in satellite communications and airport approach radars. Earlier attempts to achieve limited scan involved the use of parabolic lenses, zoning, and movable or dual-focus feeds. In the method described here, the main beam is scanned electronically by using a circular-arc phased array. The microwave lens is designed so that its back face satisfies the scanning condition. The beam is focused by shaping the front face of the lens to meet the required focusing condition and by varying the phase propagation of the lens. Two of the lenses studied were dielectric-loaded. A waveguide lens designed to scan in one dimension yielded experimental results that were good agreement with the theoretical predictions. Representative plots, and computer-generated farfield patterns of two topographically unique cases, are given.

Book Ultrawideband Phased Array Antenna Technology for Sensing and Communications Systems

Download or read book Ultrawideband Phased Array Antenna Technology for Sensing and Communications Systems written by Alan J. Fenn and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 2015-04-10 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Practical ultrawideband phased array technology used in airborne and ground-based systems applications. Ultrawideband phased array antennas are an enabling technology for many ground-based and airborne communications and radar systems. This book surveys electromagnetic theory and phased array antenna theory and provides examples of ultrawideband phased array antenna technology. It describes some of the research on ultrawideband phased arrays undertaken by the authors and their colleagues at MIT Lincoln Laboratory over the last ten years. The book focuses on experimental prototype ultrawideband phased array technology developed at Lincoln Laboratory for applications in the VHF and UHF bands from approximately 100 MHz to 1 GHz, and addresses dipole, monopole, loop, and other antenna array elements. It offers examples of antennas for both airborne and ground vehicle applications. Most of the examples are developed in the context of rapid prototyping for quick assessment of communications and radar systems feasibility, with measurements and numerical electromagnetic simulation results provided for many prototype examples. The book is intended primarily for practicing antenna engineers, radar engineers, and communications engineers, and for graduate students and researchers in electrical engineering. Readers need no prior knowledge of ultrawideband antennas, although some background in electromagnetic theory, antennas, radar, and communications would be helpful.
