Book Microwave Dielectric Spectroscopy of Ferroelectric Thin Films

Download or read book Microwave Dielectric Spectroscopy of Ferroelectric Thin Films written by Beomjin Kim and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 6 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We devised a measurement method of microwave dielectric constants of dielectric thin films without applying electrodes. The method uses a rectangular waveguide in which the dielectric thin films prepared on a substrate are filled vertically at the center. The frequency dependence of S-parameter measured by network analyzer enables us to calculate the dielectric constant and loss factor of the films at the microwave region through simulation. We prepared Ba(0.6)Sr(0.4)TiO3 thin films on (001) MgO single crystal substrate by pulsed laser deposition (PLD), and determined their dielectric constant and loss factor at ^10GHz using this method.

Download or read book Low Loss Microwave Dielectrics written by Dobbidi Pamu and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2012-04 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gives the over view of synthesis and characterization of low loss microwave dielectrics with the example of (Zr0.8Sn0.2)TiO4. The effect of processing parameters and smaller initial particle size on crystal structure, microstructure and on microwave dielectric properties of microwave dielectrics have been studied systematically. The microwave dielectric properties at low temperatures and the impedance spectroscopy of the microwave dielectrics have been reported. Thin films of (Zr0.8Sn0.2)TiO4 have been deposited by DC reactive magnetron sputtering from individual metal targets using single cathode along with its sub oxides (TiO2, ZrO2 and ZrTiO4). The crystal structure, microstructure, optical and electrical properties of the films are reported in detail. The dielectric properties of all the deposited films were reported both at low and at microwave frequencies. The correlations between the structure and microwave dielectric properties of (Zr0.8Sn0.2)TiO4 have been discussed both in bulk and thin film forms.

Book Ferroelectric Thin Films

  • Pages : 598 pages

Download or read book Ferroelectric Thin Films written by Carlos Paz de Araujo and published by Taylor & Francis US. This book was released on 1996 with total page 598 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The impetus for the rapid development of thin film technology, relative to that of bulk materials, is its application to a variety of microelectronic products. Many of the characteristics of thin film ferroelectric materials are utilized in the development of these products - namely, their nonvolatile memory and piezoelectric, pyroelectric, and electro-optic properties. It is befitting, therefore, that the first of a set of three complementary books with the general title Integrated Ferroelectric Devices and Technologies focuses on the synthesis of thin film ferroelectric materials and their basic properties. Because it is a basic introduction to the chemistry, materials science, processing, and physics of the materials from which integrated ferroelectrics are made, newcomers to this field as well as veterans will find this book self-contained and invaluable in acquiring the diverse elements requisite to success in their work in this area. It is directed at electronic engineers and physicists as well as process and system engineers, ceramicists, and chemists involved in the research, design, development, manufacturing, and utilization of thin film ferroelectric materials.

Book Comparison of Microwave Dielectric Properties of Between 001 and 011 Ferroelectric Ba 1 x Sr x TiO3 Thin Films Grown by Pulsed Laser Deposition

Download or read book Comparison of Microwave Dielectric Properties of Between 001 and 011 Ferroelectric Ba 1 x Sr x TiO3 Thin Films Grown by Pulsed Laser Deposition written by Seung Eon Moon and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 6 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The effects of anisotropic dielectric properties of ferroelectric Ba(1-x)Sr(x)TiO3 (BST) films on the characteristics of phase shifter have been studied in microwave regions at room temperature. Ferroelectric BST films with (001) and (011) orientation were epitaxially grown on (001) and (011) MgO substrates, respectively, by pulsed laser deposition method. The structures of BST films were investigated using x-ray diffraction measurement. The microwave properties of orientation engineered BST films were investigated using coplanar waveguide transmission lines that were fabricated on BST films using a thick metal layer by photolithography and etching process. The measured differential phase shift and insertion loss (S sub 21) for (011) BST films are larger than those for (001) BST films. Dielectric constants of the ferroelectric BST films are calculated from the measured S sub 21 using a modified conformal-mapping model.

Book Ferroelectrics in Microwave Devices Circuits and Systems

This book was released on 2009-05-30 with total page 405 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today’s wireless communications and information systems are heavily based on microwave technology. Current trends indicate that in the future along with - crowaves, the millimeter wave and Terahertz technologies will be used to meet the growing bandwidth and overall performance requirements. Moreover, motivated by the needs of the society, new industry sectors are gaining ground; such as wi- less sensor networks, safety and security systems, automotive, medical, envir- mental/food monitoring, radio tags etc. Furthermore, the progress and the pr- lems in the modern society indicate that in the future these systems have to be more user/consumer friendly, i. e. adaptable, reconfigurable and cost effective. The mobile phone is a typical example which today is much more than just a phone; it includes a range of new functionalities such as Internet, GPS, TV, etc. To handle, in a cost effective way, all available and new future standards, the growing n- ber of the channels and bandwidth both the mobile handsets and the associated systems have to be agile (adaptable/reconfigurable). The complex societal needs have initiated considerable activities in the field of cognitive and software defined radios and triggered extensive research in adequate components and technology platforms. To meet the stringent requirements of these systems, especially in ag- ity and cost, new components with enhanced performances and new functionalities are needed. In this sense the components based on ferroelectrics have greater - tential and already are gaining ground.

Download or read book Growth and Characterization of Thin Films of High Performance Microwave Dielectrics written by You Li and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 53 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Microwave dielectrics are widely used to make resonators and filters in telecommunication systems. The production of thin films with high dielectric constant and low loss could potentially enable a marked reduction in the size of devices and systems. However, studies of these materials in thin film form are very sparse. In this research, experiments were carried out on practical high-performance dielectrics.
