Book MICROBIOME BREAKTHROUGH

Download or read book MICROBIOME BREAKTHROUGH written by Raphael Kellman and published by Da Capo Lifelong Books. This book was released on 2017-10-31 with total page 405 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A groundbreaking, medication-free, scientifically based approach to healing depression, anxiety, and brain fog by focusing on your "whole brain" -- the brain, the gut, the microbiome, and the thyroid There is a fundamental connection between the brain, the gut, the microbiome, and the thyroid: if any one part of this system is malfunctioning, it will impact the others--and this is where The Whole Brain comes in. Integrative health pioneer Dr. Raphael Kellman presents his revolutionary concept of "the whole brain" (a biological system made up of the microbiome, the gut, and the thyroid). Kellman then shares a completely new approach to curing depression and other mood problems by focusing on this interconnectedness, explaining how this system works in tandem to heal mood and mental disorders without drugs. Based on Dr. Kellman's decades of experience as a physician and his ongoing study of the latest science, the book offers a lively, accessible explanation of how the brain works and why, for optimal brain health, you need to heal the microbiome, the gut, and the thyroid. With a proprietary three-week plan (21 days of meal plans, featuring 50 original and simple recipes; a complete exercise program; and a program of daily meditations and affirmations). The Whole Brain program will benefit people diagnosed with depression and/or anxiety as well as those who just want to feel better.

Book Science Breakthroughs to Advance Food and Agricultural Research by 2030

Download or read book Science Breakthroughs to Advance Food and Agricultural Research by 2030 written by National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2019-03-21 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For nearly a century, scientific advances have fueled progress in U.S. agriculture to enable American producers to deliver safe and abundant food domestically and provide a trade surplus in bulk and high-value agricultural commodities and foods. Today, the U.S. food and agricultural enterprise faces formidable challenges that will test its long-term sustainability, competitiveness, and resilience. On its current path, future productivity in the U.S. agricultural system is likely to come with trade-offs. The success of agriculture is tied to natural systems, and these systems are showing signs of stress, even more so with the change in climate. More than a third of the food produced is unconsumed, an unacceptable loss of food and nutrients at a time of heightened global food demand. Increased food animal production to meet greater demand will generate more greenhouse gas emissions and excess animal waste. The U.S. food supply is generally secure, but is not immune to the costly and deadly shocks of continuing outbreaks of food-borne illness or to the constant threat of pests and pathogens to crops, livestock, and poultry. U.S. farmers and producers are at the front lines and will need more tools to manage the pressures they face. Science Breakthroughs to Advance Food and Agricultural Research by 2030 identifies innovative, emerging scientific advances for making the U.S. food and agricultural system more efficient, resilient, and sustainable. This report explores the availability of relatively new scientific developments across all disciplines that could accelerate progress toward these goals. It identifies the most promising scientific breakthroughs that could have the greatest positive impact on food and agriculture, and that are possible to achieve in the next decade (by 2030).

Book excerpt: Bestselling author of the Wheat Belly franchise brings his next big, game changing idea - the human microbiome and the silent epidemic of SIBO - to the mainstream. Dr. Davis has connected the dots between "gut health" and many common, modern ailments and complaints. 1 in 3 people have SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth), which causes a long list of health issues and illnesses; it is a silent and profound epidemic created by the absence of microbial species that our ancestors had even 50-100 years ago, which have been erased by the industrialization of food and medicine. Dr. Davis has also found that patients with dementia have fungi on their brain-SIFO (small intestinal fungal overgrowth)-that has traveled upwards from the intestinal tract. Super Gut shares a four-week plan to reprogram your microbiome based on research and techniques not only gets to the root of many diseases but also to improve levels of oxytocin (the bonding/happy hormone), brain health, and promote anti-aging and weight loss. Dr. Davis provides not just the science and case studies but also more than forty recipes and solutions. In Super Gut, he intends to help readers understand the science, diagnose their gut issues, eradicate them, and maintain their long-term health.

Book Nested Ecologies

    Book Details:
  • Author : Rosalynn A. Vega
  • Publisher : University of Texas Press
  • Release : 2023-05-04
  • ISBN : 1477326863
  • Pages : 336 pages

Download or read book Nested Ecologies written by Rosalynn A. Vega and published by University of Texas Press. This book was released on 2023-05-04 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How functional medicine leverages systems biology and epigenetic science to treat the microbiome and reverse chronic disease. Each body is a system within a system--an ecology within the larger context of social, political, economic, cultural, and environmental factors. This is one of the lessons of epigenetics, whereby structural inequalities are literally encoded in our genes. But our ecological embeddedness extends beyond DNA, for each body also teems with trillions of bacteria, yeast, and fungi, all of them imprints of our individual milieus. Nested Ecologies asks what it would mean to take seriously our microbial being, given that our internal ecologies are shaped by inequalities embedded in our physical and social environments. Further, Rosalynn Vega argues that health practices focused on patients' unique biology inadvertently reiterate systemic inequities. In particular, functional medicine--which attempts to heal chronic disease by leveraging epigenetic science and treating individual microbiomes--reduces illness to problems of "lifestyle," principally diet, while neglecting the inability of poor people to access nutrition. Functional medicine thus undermines its own critique of the economics of health care. Drawing on novel digital ethnographies and reflecting on her own experience of chronic illness, Vega challenges us to rethink not only the determinants of well-being but also what it is to be human.

Book The Secret Life of Your Microbiome

Download or read book The Secret Life of Your Microbiome written by Susan L. Prescott and published by New Society Publishers. This book was released on 2017-09-01 with total page 471 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Immerse Yourself in Nature and Nourish Your Microbiome for Optimal Health For too long our bodies have been viewed as capsules, sealed off and protected from 'bugs' by our immune systems and an arsenal of antibiotics, pesticides, processed foods, and antibacterial soaps. The more insulated from nature, the better. The Secret Life of Your Microbiome shatters this deeply held myth, presenting a revolutionary new paradigm, backed by vast science; we're deeply connected to the biodiversity of nature through our microbiomes, the rich microbial ecosystem of our guts and skin, and this connection is essential to health and happiness. From sugar-rich diets wiping out good gut bacteria and exacerbating depression, to microbes mediating phytonutrient absorption in the brain, to inflammation and cancer, the influence of biodiversity on our bodies is everywhere. The great communicator is our immune system, a 'mobile brain' that interacts with micro-organisms in and around us with profound health consequences. Written with pace, clarity, and humor by world-renowned scientists in immunology, nutrition, and environmental health, The Secret Life of Your Microbiome makes the irrefutable case that health and happiness depends fundamentally on the health of biodiversity, and shows how we can nurture this nature. Dr. Susan L. Prescott, MD, PhD is an internationally acclaimed immunologist and pediatrician. She has authored 250 scientific papers and The Allergy Epidemic , The Calling , and Origins . Dr. Alan C. Logan ND is a naturopathic doctor and researcher, a trusted media commentator, and co-author of Your Brain on Nature and The Clear Skin Diet . He and Prescott live in New York and Perth, Australia.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Jesus Microbiome is a breakthrough book unveiling radically new but scientifically demonstrable, universally replicable and factually definitive findings on the most mysterious and controversial piece of cloth on earth: the Shroud of Turin. The implications of these never-before publicized findings are historic in nature for this book shows that: - Microbiome = the body of microorganisms that inhabit a specific environment. Although well-intentioned, the Carbon 14 dating study performed on the Shroud over three decades ago (1988) was unavoidably flawed because the investigators were unaware of what is now known about microbiomes and failed to demicrobialize the Shroud. No decontamination = no valid dating. The Jesus Microbiome is not just another book about the Shroud. It is a journey into the first century through the 21st where the ancient world comes to life again through the medium of the microbiome.
